I'm against all this "oh, all should be excused because IT'S FOR CHARITY!!!" stuff. Why not just release a new charity song every week, get it to #1 and then say something like "you all go away, it's all for the good cause!" We can aswell rename the singles chart into the charity chart that way because people buy the songs not for the reason that they like it but because they want to donate something for charity.

For example, the X-Factor producers don't care about the charity aspect of their 'The X-Factor Finalists' singles at all, it just gives them extra hype. And in case of the latest "effort" another #1s for JLS and One Direction.

I'm not against Military Wives though, as I don't mind the song and can see how some people (especially of older generation) can like it. They don't buy the similar songs in normal circumstances because very few songs of this type receive so much hype around them. Some of the sales are inevitably only 'charity sales' - yes, but that's still much better than said X-Factor atrocities. I really enjoy when a good charity single gets to #1. This way you kill two rabbits at once.

By the way, apparently all the profit for Alex Day's song will also go for charity.

86. The Daily Mail - Radiohead

Not sure where this came from, but I'm surprised it's doing so well!

 368. Post Apocalypse Christmas - Gruff Rhys

Keep going! :D

We've had MUCH worse songs get to #1 than Military Wives Choir (e.g. She Makes Me Wanna, Don't Hold Your Breath, All About Tonight, Don't Wanna Go Home), so it's not a big deal imo. And I don't care that it's for charity. It doesn't offend me.

I actually fully expect something like Teletubbies to appear in tomorrow's iTunes top-10 and Crazy Frog the day after.
Oh my, everyday there is a new novelty/charity song in the Itunes top 10  What a crazy week that is, I better come back next week when they all drop off the charts ...
What is this Radiohead song? Is it another campaign or is it a new single? Odd that it's doing better than 'Lotus Flower' which actually had airplay before its release if it's the latter :o

'The Daily Mail' - Just released today!

I might give the official chart a miss this week. :drama:

I would gather a lot of people are because it's Christmas and would rather spend it with family which is what I'm doing. May listen on the Internet later but I may not also  It will be very weird how they are gonna mention the number 1 considering it'll be already announced through Christmas TOTP a few hours earlier

I haven't actually listened to the top 40 for 2 weeks and certainly won't on Christmas day. I keep getting much better offers!
I don't see how going to a charity and donating 99p to them is 'incredibly patronising'. Charities seem to appreciate any money they get and even a small amount can make a difference, whether it be 99p or £99. If I see a charity bucket in a shop I might throw in some change, 50p or so, I don't get how that's insulting.

Didn't people drop a pound or something for their poppies? This is basically the same thing we did a month ago. Why didn't he arrange this for then, get them on X Factor and capitalise on that marketing?

Exactly, they're hardly going to turn you away because you're not handing them a cheque for hundreds of pounds  If I get stupid change like 10p then I'll always put it in one of the charity things you see often on counters, and also if there's anyone collecting while I'm in town etc. I'll always give them like 50p-ish, and they obviously still appreciate that.

Note: As there are two 'single versions' of Dominick The Donkey, I've differentiated them by the second track - the higher one has a remix of DTD, the lower one has a song called 'Dance Little Bird (Birdie Song)'.

Military Wives increasing again :drama:

Lou Monte up to 74%, 89.4% combined - if this keeps growing through the week from Chris Moyles giving it another promo spurt every morning it could get to #1 on the download chart this week. I know I said this about Alex Day as well and he's now decreased a lot, but DTD has promo all through the week while Alex was obviously extremely frontloaded so I think Lou will hold up much better.

Move your feet, Bray, while they exist...

We'll see what happens when all the pre-orders vanish from its bar at midnight :P

Prepare yourself for it to still be number uno Michael Bubré

It might not drop from #1, given that the iTunes chart is weighted to more recently within the 48 hours, but its lead will start to evaporate.

Most of the pre-orders have already vanished I'd imagine.

Wow at Military Wives increasing :o And the physical was literally FLYING out when I was in HMV - will be interesting to see its sales at the end of the week...

Oh dear at #2, another song to add to the list of songs that will be top ten this week and out of the top 40 next :drama:

Yeah, I doubt it'll lose #1 (unless Lou Monte continues to increase a lot before midnight). But even though its massive pre-orders aren't affecting its bar as much now as they were yesterday/earlier today, they are still affecting it and they no longer will be at midnight so theoretically it should drop a bit. Theoretically. It probably won't actually happen because none of my predictions about it have come true yet
