#7.

Oh. :( I thought it would be higher!

Thanks anyway :)

The 59p tactic certainly has helped the likes of Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, The Saturdays and now The Wanted secure a top 40 position - 'You and I' is a prime example of a song looking at a #33 peak, but managed #21 (?) with the reduction - an undeserving chart position, in my opinion. Likewise, 'Warzone' shouldn't be top 40 at all really, the 59p looks set to have it climb into the top 20 though.

I wonder if a music video will help JLS, they're hanging around the #50 position at the moment, somehow managing a #41 peak thus far. I think I'd actually enjoy seeing them miss out on the top 40 - would really ruin their streak.

MDTH seems to have stalled a bit this week, but it will hopefully rise in sales and then peak next week or the following.Thought it would get to no1 eventually!!

They already have a music video. Its as cringe as ever

JLS obviously just thought they could pull of a rush release and still get a hit out of it (stupidly, as TACOM flopped on it's arse despite a top 3 placing) - and that's backfired with them releasing a video FAR too early which has led to people erratically cherry picking so it's had a low chart placing but a (fairly) consistent run.

I can just see it now...

Awkward! :o

Btw I'm not sure EWS even peaked at #9...

Doesn't 'Do You Feel What I Feel?' have a video with a slight Christmas theme to it? That would explain why they released it when they did, and also because it's based around/samples a Christmas song called 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' so I understand why they released it when they did. Shame it's not done well as I personally think it's their best single yet.

As for 'Warzone' I do think the video was released too early and also the song seems a bit more subtle, not such an obvious big/catchy chorus as Glad You Came & Lightning had. Still one of the better songs from the album though.

I can just see it now...

lol. It's not really that awkward. One of Rihanna's singles missed the top 40 last year too, and that was arguably her most successful year. Every artist flops. And I'm sure they'll have more big hits after that, like Rihanna did.

Rihanna and JLS are in extremely different situations though.

Rihanna is an international artist so she probably doesn't care if one of her songs misses the top 40 in the UK. 'Hard' wasn't even a single (if that is the one you are talking about). IIRC its video premiere didn't coincide with radio play and she didn't promote it anywhere. As far as I am aware, the label only pushed the song in America.

JLS, on the other hand, are a boyband who naturally have an advantage in getting top 10 hits. So the fact that their new single is looking to miss the top 40 in their homeland (the only place where they are established) is quite shocking. :P

I do hope DYFWIF? makes at least the top 40 - liek Jack I think it's their best single to date so it's a shame to see it doing so badly :( On the other hand I was happy to see Warzone flopping because it's a complete nothing of a song, like a bad result from a 'boyband song generator'. However it is growing on me a bit now and it's not their worst (that would be HV).

The video premiere and radio airplay did coincide, sort of. They thought it was going to be the 2nd single in the UK initially, so some radio stations like Capital started playing it (the radio airplay is what actually got it its peak, it did even worse on its actual release :o), but they changed their mind to Rude Boy. It eventually became the 4th UK single, and Radio 1 playlisted it then.

Using your logic, Just Can't Get Enough by the Black Eyed Peas wouldn't be a single.

Quite embarrassing seeing Heart Vacancy peaking in the top 3 considering how awful the single is.

Not liking the hate for Heart Vacancy, it's their 2nd best single behind Glad You Came :( It is very soppy, generic and perhaps dull though, I'm not even sure why I like it!

Warzone isn't one of their best it must be said, I can see why it's struggling to get top 10...

Should have guessed that "First of the Year (Equinox)" would re-enter given the time of year and the hype around Skrillex.

This remix of Heart Vacancy (by DJs From Mars) is better (although possibly even MORE generic than the original, but slightly less boring if that makes sense ). It has We Found Love-esque instrumental sections in:
