I think the video is a large part of Mama Do the Hump's success (that along with people finding the song catchy :D). It's so original, and always makes you smile. :)

it just makes me cringe. :puke: especially as it features james cordon, my number 1 hate figure.

Yeah, I guess it just connects with some people. A lot of people can relate to the video.

Although obviously it won't help that you don't like James Cordon.

I like the song and i agree with you about the video featuring James Cordon.I find the bloke irritating at the best of time LOL

Nicola Robert's 'YoYo' used on CBB, hoping it recieves a boost seeing as its an unknown song, may help people discover it.

Didn't Kiss the Stars get used in CBB yesterday?

Yes, I am not sure if that was mentioned at all in this thread :kink:

I don't really get the big deal about Mama Do The Hump's video. I mean it's different, but it's not exactly 'funny' and I haven't really heard anyone talk about it outside of this forum.

The song is pretty good though, but I can never decide which of their singles is my favourite. But I'd much rather have Antidote or Titanium at #1. I don't think it's climbing as such, just Good Feeling dropping behind it.

I can already imagine this thread in something like 15.07.2016 and posts appearing like "Oh, didn't anyone notice that Pixie's "Kiss the Stars" was used on CBB 4 and a half years ago? I can't even remember now what does CBB mean but I'm definitely sure it was used there!"

 So true.

I wonder what the charts will be like in 2016. Although. now that I think about it, it probably won't be that different to now. Musically, I can't see it changing that much. Artist-wise, I think it'll change a bit, but a lot of the artists in the current top 10, I can see still being around in 2016, unless they retire or something. Flo Rida, David Guetta, Taio Cruz, Coldplay, Lloyd, Andre 3000, Lil Wayne, Avicii and Beyonce I can still see being around in 2016.

Lil Wayne will be wrapping up his career come 2016 - he plans to retire at 35, so 2018. I imagine we'll just see the release of some really epic albums, or just a year and a half lining up the one final album. Hopefully the likes of Rihanna will still be around - but it's hard to tell when she'll give up / when the public are going to give up on her.

I think people are already getting bored of Gaga - the appeal of her 'wackiness' has certainly diminished, I just wonder how album #3 will go. 'The Fame'/'The Fame Monster' had 4 #1s, 2 T10s and a T20, while 'Born This Way' had 3 T10s, a T20 and a T30 - surely this is evidence enough that the initial fanbase have stopped buying her music legally/at all.

The general public are definitely getting bored of GaGa's "character" (?). I guess they preferred it when she wasn't so pretentious and didn't seem to try as hard as she does now. The shock factor from her is almost definitely wearing off on people. It's just like "Oh." now. I think I'd prefer to see her in just jeans, t-shirt, trainers and with her hair down as that to me would be far more shocking.

Surely Taio Cruz isn't going to still be relevant in 2016? (It's incredibly surprising he's still somewhat relevant now).

I'd also be surprised if Avicii can still get hits in 2016, unless he becomes somewhat of a 'new David Guetta' figure.

I don't imagine many of the artists currently in the top 40 having much relevance. With BRIT school, The X-Factor and music polls each year - new acts are constantly being 'discovered' and replacing another artist's niche. Some artists, I feel have already reached peaks - anything more they do now will just confirm it.

I'll take Florence as an example, her second album hasn't proved as successful as the first - the fact that so much was put into the debut and singles were being released from it a year after a release just meant it was constantly receiving sales. 'Ceremonials' however debuted at #1 and people who wanted the album will likely have got it already. Holding ourselves within the top 10 though - Pixie Lott will not be around in 2016 - her success was 2009/10, 'Kiss the Stars' doing well at the moment is a bit of an exception. I don't see Rizzle Kicks being relevant in 4 years time either, or sadly Ed Sheeran for that matter.

Would laugh if LMFAO had hits in 2016 - it's weird enough that it's an uncle and nephew, but 4 years from now it'll be even weirder; surely one of them'll be nearing 40?

I'm pretty sure Gaga's here for the long run. It's album sellers that survive the test of time, not generic 'single' artists. Yes BTW produced some underwhelming singles in terms of sales (mainly because theyre just not that mainstream), but at least shes showing progression, and her cultural impact is still undeniable.

Loon out.

Gaga's become increasingly reliant on her 'Monsters' to sell records. She hypes everything up so that people go out and buy it immediately and get it to #1. I remember reading reviews under 'Born This Way' (single) that said "I've not even heard it yet, but it's bound to be great" - and pay the 99p without even listening to it. That's just an artist with a fanbase wrapped around her fingers. Musically, she's just become a bit too weird, 'You and I' and 'The Edge of Glory' were the best releases from this era - the former under-performed because it wasn't really commercial and the latter is the type of music I wish she'd stick to.
Its hard to know how sounds progress, I'm not sure what I thought 2012 would sound like in 2008 in all honesty so I guess the same will happen again  I'd be very surprised if we're still dominated by the electro-pop club banger sound, dubstep has developed over the past year so we could see the emergence of an underground style

Out of them all Florence and adele will most likely be still around as they are career artists rather than pop artists!!

Shes being saying for ages that BTW will be for the fans. I dont think she intended the whole world to sing along to Hair or BTW or Highway Unicorn, she just felt she needed to do this for the fans. I guess whether she can hold onto the title of being 'one of the biggest global superstars' depends on her next release and musical direction.
