20 | Rihanna - S&M | 411pts

Coming in at #20, is the first of Rihanna's two huge hits this year. The first being the third single off of her fourth studio album 'Loud', the raunchy and controversial 'S&M' which

caused quite a fuss in the media for it's raunchy lyrics and video. I think it even got censored on Radio 1 and renamed the pathetic 'Come On'. I personally don't think it's anywhere

near Rihanna's best and she's capable of MUCH MUCH better, I can still understand why it was a single and why it was such a huge success for her though.

19 | Ed Sheeran - The A Team | 452pts

Undoubtedly one of the biggest newcomers this year as he scored three Top 5 hits and a huge #01 album in the latter half of the year. This was his debut and his biggest selling single

though as it finished in the Top 10 of the year. Not personally my cup of tea although it is quite relaxing and nice to listen to, I'm stiull somewhat baffled that it was quite so huge here,

considering how simple it is. Still it's much better than the even more dreary and duller 'Lego House'.

Wow. Rihanna coming last SHOCKER!!!! :o :o And The A Team aswell. Two MASSIVE #3 hits which had great chart longevity and outsold most of the #1s.

I agree though, S&M is boring for a Rihanna song. Similar to Jack said, I was really begging for it to be released as a single at the time, more because I knew it'd be a massive hit than because I liked it.

And I think the top 5 will be Rolling in the Deep, We Found Love, The Edge of Glory, On the Floor and Set Fire to the Rain, in some order.

Jealousy is obviously AT LEAST top 3. I don't mind it but it was near the bottom of my list.

Hehe it's fun knowing the results! :kink:

I do have to say there did look like some 'tactical voting' for Jealousy as at one point there was a row of about five votes which all had Jealousy at #1 and were only a top 10 all made by well-known Will fans who only seem to vote in the rounds that Jealousy was in :(

And there was a thread in their forum begging for votes.

Oh dear!

It's definitely not in the spirit of the game, but there's not really anything anyone can do to stop it from happening. It's a shame as we get results that are skewed.

I guess it's expected to happen really. I remember in the top 40 game for one year (I think 2006 or 2007?), they did the same in the Take That forum.

18 | Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath | 457pts

One of the more surprising #01's of the year came from former flop Nicole Scherzinger (although I'm pretty sure she's gone back to being a flop now, shortlived hit career there!) Don't Hold Your Breath is one of my favourite #01's of the year actually - not too generic and yet fits in with the times well too. We haven't had a good midtempo ballad at the top .. in well a long time. Her album was surprisingly good too and spawned two further top three hits, just a shame that since she f***ed up on US X Factor,

I doubt she'll have a hit again unless it's particularly amazing.

17 | Calvin Harris - Feel So Close | 484pts

The second of two HUGE #02 hits from Calvin that was released this year, only to be beaten out by Olly Murs' 'Heart Skips A Beat' (which ironically is still to come). I've always been a bit on-off with Calvin, I think he is capable of amazing production ('I'm Not Alone', 'Girls', 'Flashback') but can be a bit flimsy sometimes too ('Ready For The Weekend', 'Bounce'). Thsi was sort of in the middle, I do like it and it sounds good in a club but I don't think it'd be something I'd listen to out of choice.

Why doesn't anyone stop it happening?

no real surprises so far, glad S&M came last though, the censoring scandal was the only interesting thing about it imo, the actual song was awful
Woah, was not expecting DHYB so low :o

I was also expecting Don't Hold Your Breath to be higher.

I've been quite disappointed with the singles from Nicole's album last year, considering how much I loved the Pussycat Dolls. The only song I really liked was Right There (incase anybody missed the other 200 times I stanned for it this year ).

 My favourite song in this thing out already, I didn't expect it to do very well, but not that low. Meh. Adele (hydropyromaniac version) or We Found Love to win now.
