I'm going to join the Pixie hate (aren't we all) - I will cut someone if she manages to beat Lana :( I used to adore her but Kiss The Stars is so average... Shame the public are lapping it up as it looks set to re-enter top 10 :(

It's not "average", it's positively DIABOLICAL. Easily the worst pop song I have heard in years.

It's not like it's chart run suggest it's been hugely popular;

81-14-08-19*

*as of chart update on Wednesday, likely it's position on Sunday.

To me, the 81-14 is purely because of the 59p reduction and the 14-08 was the week where R1 in particular seemed to be playing it non-stop, and even then it fell 2/3 places during the week to only manage a #8 peak. With the single release, it'll likely go 81-14-08-19-12 (or something similar), before falling down the chart. It's not an awful song, in my opinion, but is very similar to 'All About Tonight', but even then seems like a poorer version of that. As someone on a blog, or perhaps even here, mentioned - it sounds like some sort of demo she may have released as an attempt to 'break through'.

OK, what happened the last time the thread devolved into Pixie Lott talk? *shudders* I think I preferred it when you were all talking about Alyssa (even if you were hating on her )

Apparently Kiss the Stars has just been used on Celebrity Big Brother.

I had a feeling that something was telling me this! As if a million voices suddenly cried out as they were infected with vapidity.

With regards to Pixie, I think All About Tonight is worse than Kiss the Stars. I don't like Kiss the Stars either though. I hope in the near future the UK public can go back to having the mindset that generic songs are bad, and that artists should try interesting things in their songs. The 2011 year-end charts really scared me, so I hope things can start changing ASAP.

What Do You Take Me For? was briliant. We need more of that sort of stuff. I was surprised when I found out who it was produced by aswell, it sounds so different to most of his other songs.

Titanium  #1! :cheer:

It was also just used on the CBB series highlights clips so it will probably get quite a big lead because of that!

'kiss the stars' was used on celebrity big brother tonight so expect that to rise again.

:kink:

The year-end charts weren't that bad, the top 10 showed a reasonable amount of variety given the first six months of the year.

Titanium's lead has already grown to ~14.1% :D

(Sorry I didn't post an update today, I shan't bother posting it now :P)

11. Kiss The Stars - Pixie Lott +1

WOW, Back to TOP 10?

I think the charts this week have been rather boring, especially the albums, and with terrible sales.

It would be better if they cancelled the album chart for this week. I have also sent a mail to the OCC about it.

That's true, but there was an awful lot of tacky pop songs, which aren't any better than Kiss the Stars being massive hits last year (see: Yeah 3x, Give Me Everything, Where Them Girls At, etc.). You just didn't get that in previous years, to that extent.

The year-end top 10 of 2011 wasn't that generic, but I think it must've been the most MOR (or Heart FM-friendly, or adult contemporary, or however you want to put it) top 10 we've had in the UK in a long time. Not that that's a bad thing.

Give Me Everything >>>>>>>>>>> Kiss The Stars.

The production is so much better it's untrue. Where Them Girls At is standard Guetta but the melody in the chorus is pretty strong, Yeah 3x less so but it's still got a bit more class than Kiss The Stars.

Can't we just cancel you?

Oh PLEASE. You can't possible say Kiss The Stars is on the same level as those songs. Those three mentioned had huge choruses, big sing along hooks, were big dancefloor anthems, had big productions and had much better videos. How can anyone say Kiss The Stars is as good as Yeahx3??

it's not as good as Y3X but it's better than the other two.

I don't actually see what's so bad about 'kiss the stars' tbh... I mean, yes, it's generic, but so what? 'different' isn't always good, especially considering that songs like 'give me everything' and 'where them girls at' already fall under generic pop. her voice isn't half bad on the song either. only low point I can really see with it is the video, which is horrible, but so is the video for nicki minaj's 'stupid hoe' in a very similar way and that's getting cheers all around (the song, not so much).

kiss the stars might be rising even more, was performed today on Friday download on cbbc which gets a decent. viewing and the songs performed get decent exposure from it
