February 4, 201213 yr I would certainly be concerned yes, but only cos Matt is my friend IRL. He hasn't replied to me yet anyway, hope he's fine. I agree you can't really extend the deadline, espeically since everyone met it. But if either of them happens to vote (which is unlikely) maybe you could accept it with a smaller points reduction? I remember this happened when (I think it was) Martyn hosted, though it was a bit different as like 10 people didn't vote so it was a lot more affecting to the results, but still. I think this would be a fair way to do it if either of them do get them in swiftly (ie in 2/3 hours) - I know going like 12 hours over deadline is pushing it a bit, so really it's up to Freeze what he wants to do, because whether he accepts potential votes or not, it will be unfair on one party or another. I'm actually not sure what I'd do in this position tbh  Edited February 4, 201213 yr by Liаm
February 4, 201213 yr The only downside to people not voting is the potential loss of 12 points to a song that could determine whether it qualifies or not. So say the song that just misses out from making the final by 1 point is a song Bré or Jester would've given 12 points to, that's the main downside for people not voting imo. Can't say for sure if Jester has been online in the last week but Bré has definitely spent most of the week in the iTunes thread so I know he's been online. I think in those cases they should just be given an auto DNQ even if they got the most points off everyone else. There needs to be some form of incentive to stay in the competition rather than just making up the numbers and having no intention of voting. The loss of votes is balanced by the reduction, but it's not a perfect solution. However, an auto DNQ? That can't work. For one, it would take a lot of excitement out of the semi results if we already know 2 or 3 of the non-qualifiers, and for another, why should a song that is potentially a winner or a song that a lot of people love DNQ just because the sender didn't vote? (Sober is a perfect example in this case, in terms of final voting) I can see where you are coming from, give more of an incentive for voting, but that could damage the results too much. But if reminders have been sent, and people don't take notice of their PMs (it's pretty hard not to from my position, but there you go) that's for people who've been online around the deadline time, which is just Bré out of the 3 this month... what can you do?
February 4, 201213 yr If Freeze doesn't want to change, he shouldn't have to accept votes after the deadline. I did, but that was my choice, if Freeze doesn't wish to accept them, in my opinion, that's perfectly alright.. I love Matt as much as the next guy, but he has been online during the week, cos he's posted about how Twintapes were getting disappointing odds. I can't talk particularly because there have been occasions when I've forgot to vote, but I don't we should make exceptions if Freeze doesn't want to accept late votes. February 4, 201213 yr I have to agree with Freeze on this one. As the deadline has passed, surely we shouldn't be making excuses and letting people vote 12 hours late? It could affect the results majorly which wouldn't be fair on some people. A deadline is a deadline and unless there are exceptional circumstances - that should be it. That's my opinion though :)
February 4, 201213 yr An auto DNQ? Where is Hits and what have you done with him? As everyone says though, this should be TOTALLY up to Freeze.
February 4, 201213 yr An auto DNQ? Where is Hits and what have you done with him? As everyone says though, this should be TOTALLY up to Freeze. Ok, that does sound a bit ridiculous reading it back. :D My account was hacked by Mikey. :kink:
February 4, 201213 yr  It's not ridiculous, it's just a bit harsh... There's nothing to say that there might not have been mitigating circumstances that stopped someone voting in the semi, but they might have every intention of voting the final.
February 4, 201213 yr Author It would be a shame if theoretically someone DNQ's because I let someone else vote 9/10/11 hours passed the deadline. It wouldn't be fair. They have had plenty of time to vote, there is even a recap there if they're is short on time as well. And if they knew they were going to be busy, then they should make use of that or at least say something. Obviously I'd be more lenient if there was - like Phil just said - genuin and extenuating circumstances. Well.. I still stand by this, and I don't think there's much else to say about the matter, really. So we'll see what they have to say when they get back. But I have to start preparing now :drama: I JUST thought of this :drama: You're right, and MGP is scheduled around that times as well. How about if I present some of the qualifiers at 6:30 PM and then take a break until after MGP and Melodifestivalen is finished? Or would it be best to do everything post MGP/Melodifestivalen? Now, what do you guys think about when is the best time to start the results? :D Edited February 4, 201213 yr by Freeze
February 4, 201213 yr Well.. I still stand by this, and I don't think there's much else to say about the matter, really. So we'll see what they have to say when they get back. Now, what do you guys think about when is the best time to start the results? :D I agree Freeze, I think it's the fairest way - a deadline is a deadline after all! I don't know what time Melodifestivalen finishes, but if it's not too late you could maybe do it all afterwards as I know a couple of people have said they're at work etc. and will be missing the beginning of MF anyway. It would also be better for me as I'm out until about 8pm (GMT), but that's a bit selfish of me - I can always catch up when I get back  It's up to you, whichever suits you best! :) Edited February 4, 201213 yr by Ryan741
February 4, 201213 yr Whenever's best for you suits me, but it would be a good idea to it around Melodifestivalen. Personally I'd rather have some before and the rest after but that's just me :P
February 4, 201213 yr I don't think it really makes a difference if you do it through MF, half of the members probably don't follow it anyway. I'll be watching MF, but I can definitely still be keeping track of this at the same time. Edited February 4, 201213 yr by ROBOT

I didn't realise they did... :o I shan't be watching anyway, but I probably won't be online this evening either.

There's nothing to say that there might not have been mitigating circumstances that stopped someone voting in the semi, but they might have every intention of voting the final. Yes, this. The semi-final isn't as important as the final which is why we currently only have a penalty situation for those who fail to vote in the final. Plus going way way way back there used to be massive number of AQ's and not voting in them semi just didn't have the same effect as not voting in the final.

February 4, 201213 yr Author Okay, then. I think I shall split the results. I will present SIX of the qualifying countries before MF/MGP, starting from 6:30 PM. I will then be revealing some countries at random throughout MF/MGP to have some form of interesting activity going on in here, and continue with the results full non-stop until finished from around 8:30 PM. Sounds good? Edited February 4, 201213 yr by Freeze
February 4, 201213 yr Author WOO. Can you please announce my obvious qualification first? No. I will do no such thing  It wouldn't be exciting if I did -_- I LIKE (Keri Hilson song) :D Edited February 4, 201213 yr by Freeze
