Is there any difference whatsoever between Turn Me On and every other David single this era besides Titanium? It is so tiresome to see "OH THIS IS AWFUL" for everything and then "OH LOOK, IT'S A WOMAN! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!". Titanium is at least different from the rest. Emotionally resonant and with powerful vocals. TMO is just as generic and vapid with vocals as autotuned as you can get. The only thing that seperates it from the rest is that the person singing it is Nicki, a woman.

This! :P

Except I think all of the 'generic' songs are great too!

Titanium >>>>>>>>> Where Them Girls At? >>>> Little Bad Girl > Turn Me On >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Without You

Without You is probably an 8/10? And that's after much overplay.

In fact Without You probably beats Turn Me On lyrically as well.

I know Turn Me On is just as generic, but I don't like it just because a woman is singing it. Sure, the fact I love Nicki does help, but overall it's just a better song. If say Usher or Akon sang it, I would probably like it less admittedly, because they don't have the appeal Nicki does imo, but I would still much prefer it to Little Bad Girl and Without You.

whilst Turn Me On is generic, I think its far less so than Where Them Girls At, I don't mind it but it sounds like a complete reworking of Sexy Bitch, seriously, the synths in the background are almost identical!

Titanium>>>>>>(and about 100 more I just don't want to stretch the screen :P )Without You>>>>>>>>>>>Turn Me On>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Little Bad Girl>>>Where Them Girls At

the first two are 10/10 moments definitely, I never thought it was in him to produce songs like that - Turn Me On is about 8, and the latter two are still solid 6/7/10 moments

Some songs have lower peaks but really longer chart runs. If you ask people from countries other than the UK to name the biggest pop songs of 2011, a lot of them will probably mention Till the World Ends, along with Fireowrk, Born This Way, We Found Love, etc.

yeah TTWE is one of those songs which have low peaks WW but strong longevity, eg in Australia no.8 peak is Britney's second most successful single (Baby One More Time is first), in France has peaked at no.8 too but have spent more than 30 weeks in the chart and has sold 100,000+ In Scandinavian countries has id really great job, only where it flopped imo is Austria, Germany and Netherlands. in UK it has did ok job, selling more than 135,000 with #21 peak is not that bad.

Remix with Nicki and Kesha has sold less than 400,000 in USA that means that definitely is not helped massively..

I'm not saying I don't prefer a female vocal too, because I do. But some songs are beyond saving and Turn Me On is one of those for me. It just always amuses me how people will go for almost anything that a woman is on!

And would I be right in saying that she hasn't had success in Germany and the Netherlands in ages? I've been told she gets nothing but bad press over there.

In the UK, whilst it still did badly here, it was one of the best-selling non-top 20 hits of 2011 (vidcapper posted a list of them, and it was 2nd near the end of the year, but I don't know if something else would've overtaken it before the end of December), so even here it did better than it peak suggests, but still quite badly overall I guess.

But anyway, even though TTWE did bad in the UK, her record label are still probably seeing it as a big success, and probably her biggest hit overall since Womanizer or Circus 3 years ago in 2008. So certainly not a flop at all, at least from the broad perspective of things, although we could say it was a flop in the UK. Britney and her label are probably very pleased with the song's success, rather than disappointed.

My EXACT thoughts.

Unrelated, but 'When I Was A Youngster' is back up to #49 :o Really shocked at how well this has held up since the gift card week (well, I was shocked at it climbing so much from the gift card effect to start with :P)

I noticed that aswell. It seems like the success of Mama Do the Hump is helping sell more of their previous singles aswell. It looked like When I Was a Youngster was going to have a really bad chart run and have poor sales overall, but it's done quite well now thanks to the random resurgence its had the past month.

Might as well join in the David Guetta rate whilst I'm here. :D

Titanium > Without You > Where Them Girls At > Turn Me On > Night Of Your Life (yeah, you 'eard :P ) >>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>> Little Bad Girl (Taio, you're British. Please sing like one!!! :) )

I've realized I've heard all of David Guetta's album without intentionally trying to. :drama: I blame related videos on Youtube. But imo it goes:

I Just Wanna F*** - BEST

Titanium

Turn Me On

Crank It Up

Sweat

Nothing Really Matters

Night Of Your Life

Repeat

Little Bad Girl

I Can Only Imagine

Without You

Where Them Girls At - WORST

I think you are over exaggerating here, Britney has had millions of hits and #1's.

This is my favourite thing I've read in here for a while!

Gotye's lead back down to about less than 13%. Doubt he'll be #1 then :(

He's still closing the lead until Guetta is actually ahead. I think he will get #1, Guetta was only 2k ahead on yesterday's update, down from 5k on Wednesday - if Gotye closed the lead by 3k on the 2 lowest sales days then the lead he has now will probably be more than enough to close the remaining 2k on higher sales days. I think. I might be wrong.

For me it goes:

Titanium >>>> Turn Me On >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Without You >>>>>>>> Where Them Girls At >>>> Little Bad Girl

The start of this era was so poor :( luckily we are now getting great single choices like Titanium and Turn Me On

I agree with this order, except taking about half of the >'s between 'Turn Me On' and 'Without You' and placing them after it.

That happens really really often I think. They hold stuff back a lot I think and so they get stuff selling upwards of 500k like all the time. I think the record is around 2 million.

It's not like that, in Japan they release album and singles in a different way from UK, USA, Germany and Mexico, first they release all the sigles from and album, then they choose a name for the album and after 8 months or 1 year or 3 singles they release the album and after the album is out they don't release more sigles off of it :) they only go to TV shows to promote the album singin a few songs from the album and after 1 month they promoted the album, release a brand new single, and other singles and another one for a new album.

And diferent in Korea in Korea they onlym release a promo single 1 month before the album is out :) then 1 month later release a new singles for the repackeg album :) adding just one or two songs :)

Turn Me On - not bad

Without You - meh

Little Bad Girl - :puke:

That's interesting what they do in Japan. It makes sense though, I was wondering how some artists have so many #1s!! There's some groups there that have like 20+ #1s.

I'm glad you agree about I Just Wanna F***! :D It's such a weird song. I love it. It sounds totally different to everything else David Guetta does. It was co-produced by Afrojack aswell. I don't know how to describe it, but to me it sounds like a mixture of Stupid Hoe, Swagger Jagger, Look At Me Now (also co-produced by Afrojack) and Single Ladies. It's just so weird. And whenever I listen to it, the part where the police car/ambulance sirens come in, I ALWAYS think they're real. I love it, but nobody would have a clue it's a David Guetta song if they heard it on the radio, they'd just hear Dev's voice and think it's one of her own songs.

Gonna go along with this:

Titanium >>>>>>>>> Turn Me On >>> Without You >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Where Dem Girls At? >>>>>> Little Bad Girl

Gonna go along with this:

Titanium >>>>>>>>> Turn Me On >>> Without You >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Where Dem Girls At? >>>>>> Little Bad Girl

Mine would be the same as yours, only the space between Without You and Where Dem Girls At? would be a bit smaller.

But Little Bad Girl is a pretty good song, it's Taio that ruins it for me. If it were Nicki Minaj singing it (okay, they'd have to change some of the words :P ), I'd probably think it was amazing though! And Ludacris add's NOTHING to the song :puke2:

Although there is no denying 'Turn Me On' is generic, I still think it's one of the freshest songs David Guetta has produced. I really don't see how the melody is similar to the likes of 'Where Them Girls At' and 'Sexy Bitch' etc...
