A 1 week #1 that falls very fast that only got there in the first place by fan buying not casual music buyers. Basically, a waste of a #1.

I kind of liked THE more about 2/3 weeks ago than I do now. On closer listening it is a bit lazy.

I love Mick Jagger's part (and find it hilarious that he agreed to this).

I do like T.H.E but I'd much rather Titanium to get a second week at number 1 (if it's number 1 today) I think it's a better song and I don't like it when you have a run of different songs at number 1 each week.

In fairness though, who really cares about the lyrics on 'club bangers' surely they are just about making you feel good or having a big beat for friday and Saturday night's!?!

I've listened to it like 3 times, and it makes me just laugh every single time. Absolutely hilarious how we have Will.I.AM on about boners and then Mick Jagger just pops up in the middle of this club banger :lol:

mick jagger's part of the song is probably the only part of it that I don't like anymore, he sounds really out-of-place. it annoys me how the tempo especially changes when he comes in, lust like will.i.am has done on many of his other songs. apart from that I don't find the song that offensive anymore.

Surely Gotye is more likely to be #3 this week? I don't think he's going to overtake Guetta any time soon. He'll definitely be in the top 10 for a long time though, I'm sure it'll eventually manage at least a week at #1.

 

Guetta's going back to 99p, it was for a week only. I reckon Gotye won't take too long to overtake after that, it might not be in time for next Sunday's chart but you never know.

I don't think 'Next To Me' can be considered a "dark horse" anymore. With a cover track charting fairly on iTunes it's clear there's demand for the single already. I predict Emeli Sandé will be no. 1 next week and then remain no. 1 if she performs the track at The Brit Awards - it'll definitely boost sales of the single version plus added with the Brits live download, it strikes me an early contender for biggest selling single of 2012. Emeli's album could end up being this years '21'.

 

I can't imagine that this would happen. When has an emerging artist ever performed their new single at the Brits? None of the other Critics Choice winners ever performed before did they? It wouldn't be an 'event performance' of any sort so they wouldn't bother with it, maybe next year when she's had a year of having properly broken through.

 

I do think that Next To Me will be a big hit though, it's far better than Daddy, should have followed Heaven imo.

I can understand why so many people wouldn't like 'T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)' but when Will.I.Am sings (in vocoder vocal style) "OMG, this beat is so hard", that beat that kicks in makes my head bop. :lol:

 

I don't think Mick Jagger's bit at the end is random. It's similar in formulae to 'Imma Be' by Black Eyed Peas, only 'T.H.E.' has a more commercial sound about it. Jennifer Lopez potentially getting a second UK #1 barely a year after 'On The Floor' and Mick Jagger getting his first UK #1 since the 80s. Another great year for the acts 30+ years of age (to think at one time the UK charts were deemed as being ageist towards acts over 30 years old :D ).
