Surely she'll soon be ahead of DJ Fresh combined since he is at #1 and #36?

Emeli's top version is falling away from DJ Fresh a bit now the album version is taking sales away. I think it'll balance out and DJ Fresh will stay ahead (at least for a few more days anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Emeli does overtake combined about halfway through the week as I think she's the less frontloaded one).

Album version of 'Next To Me' is up to #21 - this is getting uncomfortably similar to the Please Don't Let Me Go/Teenage Dream situation, Teenage Dream got 2 versions into the top 10 and Next To Me could do the same :o

As of the last Kworb update, Emeli combined is at 76.5% of DJ Fresh combined, but Fresh also has his EP still at #5 on the albums feed (behind Our Version Of Events, Whitney GH x2 and Making Mirrors) and of course a few more versions a lot lower down the chart so he's quite a long way ahead of Emeli at the moment.

All of the Whitney songs seemed to have stalled now, apart from 'I Will Always Love You' which could have been boosted a little more by Jennifer Hudson's brilliant performance of it at the Grammy's last night or mabye the showing of 'The Bodyguard' on ITV2 last night as well:

16. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

37. I Will Always Love You (2000 Remaster) - Whitney Houston

131. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

How on Earth did it miss the #1 spot then? :o it must have been very close?

Hopefully the top version reaches Top 10 but it may not have enough steam to get there. It should easily make Top 10 combined though!

I'm not sure, but I do remember it happening aswell. The same also happened to RITD on its 2nd week, and it also only got to #2 that week.

Emeli Sande - Next To Me  to #2 & #17

Could it go to #1 officially?

The single version went into plummet mode when the album version made the top 10 IIRC. (Either that or the album version was only top 10 for about a day before being knocked out by something else - the former scenario definitely happened to Rolling In The Deep like Eric said and the latter happened to Price Tag which also briefly had 2 versions top 10, but I can't remember what happened exactly with Teenage Dream). I don't think it was particularly close between Olly and Katy, Olly had a pretty big lead I guess, as DJ Fresh has now.

 16. Next to Me - Emeli Sandé

 49. Someone Like You - ADELE

 51. Rolling In the Deep - ADELE

 62. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

Clear Grammy effect here, especially for RITD (as it was the song she performed). '21' is also back up to #5 now, kicking DJ Fresh's EP to #6.

'Niggas In Paris' back  to #97 after being knocked out of the top 100 by the weekend effect and Whitney invasion :cheer:

Clearly with the Granny effect Adele's tracks are going to climb inside the 40 this week, and well into next week with the BRITs transmission, Tuesday week.

I'm wondering can Adele go back to #1 with Someone Like You next week :kink:

I'm not too sure, grannies could just buy her songs any day of the week. :kink:

I think we've found ourselves a new 'Mikey Of The Week'! :D

I do hope Next To Me's 2nd version can help it to official number 1, I really think it'll do a Teenage Dream/Rolling In The Deep though :(

Well you can hardly blame them for wanting those $$$.

It's actually iTunes who do the pricing iirc. Probably with a push from the greedy company though.

The week Price Tag had 2 versions top 10 was one of the weeks it was #2 as well if I remember correctly, it's just that Adele hd 2 versions really high up at the time as well so she cancelled it out :P I don't think there were ever 2 versions of both in the top 10 all at the same time though.

EDIT: Yes, it would have been on the album's release week which was Price Tag's third week at #2 behind Someone Like You - that was also Someone Like You's peak sales week despite starting one and a half weeks after her BRITs performance!

So basically having 2 versions in the top 10 is more likely to get you to #2 than #1  Rolling In The Deep was actually #3 the week it had 2 versions top 10!

The only other example of having 2 versions top 10 that I remember is Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden's Bonkers. At one point the club mix was #2 and the radio edit was #3 - but that was because the radio edit had been deleted then re-added.

It's okay, Mart!n. They're nicknamed the "Grannies" for a reason.

 14. Next to Me - Emeli Sandé (album version - single version #2)

 60. Read All About It, Pt. III - Emeli Sandé

 97. Heaven - Emeli Sandé (album version - single version #68)

Read All About It, Pt. III looks like it could be heading for the top 40 then.

 80. Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra) - Gotye (album version - single version #3)

Hopefully this should help STIUTK increase sales again this week :D

 47. Rolling In the Deep - ADELE

:o Heading for top 40 again?

Why is the Grammy effect having such in impact in the UK, especially for an artist who has already shifted over 3 million albums? :s

It's only affecting Adele, no one else has got a significant boost as far as I can tell. 'Because it's Adele' is probably a suitable enough explanation :D

But seriously, the fact this is Adele's first major TV performance since her surgery is probably helping a lot - if she hadn't have had those vocal difficulties I don't think her Grammys performance would have any impact at all. I also think her vocal problems will increase the effect of her BRITs performance as that's her first UK performance since the surgery (and it's not on at like 1am UK time like the Grammys performance )

She won all 6 Grammys as well which is a pretty big deal and I guess the UK media is covering that quite a bit? We shall see if she gets all 3 of her BRITs nominations, she'll definitely have Female and Album, it's just a case of if the public have voted 'Someone Like You' over one of the fanbase acts nominated for Single.
