I realised what was meant but it just doesn't make sense to me. :)

It's an unlucky term for it, but there's no better...

Not a bad start to the chart thjough I'm getting a bit sick of Love On Top!
My favourite Ed song (in fact the only one i even remotely like!!). It still has not been killed by overplay which probably means i'll be able to listen to it forever

Think of it as a shortened version of 'non-event of a #1'. (The term non-event uses 'non-' in the same sense).

Great to see Lego House getting another week top 40, thought it'd drop out this week :D

What's Ed's album like? I've liked the singles so far and was thinking about buying it.
On the topic of 'non-#1s' - the whole point of a #1 is that it sells more than anything else that week - nowhere does it say it needs to sell well any other week. Some artists are concerned with sales, but others are concerned with gaining #1s, as it's a milestone and means it was the most bought song in that particular week. I do like to use the phrase 'non-#1' though - JLS, Cher Lloyd and Nero were all good examples from 2011 - 2012 has had Cover Drive, but at the moment it's chart run isn't too bad (01-06-07-12) - although it may not fall as far as #12.

I still like Jar Of Hearts despite the massive overexposure. Hope it makes it to 30 weeks top 40.

I have NEVER liked 'Jar Of Hearts' and NEVER understood it's appeal. It's so whiney and repetitive. How can this still be the 36th most purchased song this week?!

I definitely wouldn't consider Twilight a 'non-#1'. It was everywhere for a good few weeks, and everyone was talking about it/singing it

Careful what you wish for- It got to be TOO fast by 1999/2000

Barry, any chance you know what No Doubt's Don't Speak's total sales are?

Not bad, though better to buy it when it is cheap!

Woo! Great to see Heaven back  I do love 'Next To Me' as well but this is the clear highlight of her career so far.
