Only two new entries in the top 40! :o I wish the charts would bit a little bit faster... It seems like nothing is happening. I guess it's expected on BRITs week with old songs climbing and re-enterting.

I think Adele will overtake Emeli for number 1 album but top 3 albums sales should be strong, Blur best of back in at #25 already, looks like a top 10 could happen for them.

Strange whitney movement this week, greatest hits plummets and the essential is starting to rocket, i wonder is due to the availability of phyisical stock, i think either way her albums will trail off again quickly.

Re-entries for Party Rock Anthem, The A Team and Someone Like You :nocheer:

how exciting <_< why is PRA back? I can't see it in the Itunes top 40 anywhere!

It was performed on Jonathan Ross, so had 2 versions top 100 for a while (until the BRITs effect knocked them down).

Ouch at the drop for Pixie Lott though, from around #26 last week and to no longer be in the mids. I thought she would have got a minor Brits effect but she's dropped over 20 places since last night!

As expected One Direction fall quite fast. I can see it dropping out the top 20 come Sunday.

The reason why 'Sexy & I Know It' is doing so well again, is due to the Media attention that

the GB Diving Team is giving it.

That's appropriate, as hearing it makes me want to jump from a high place, too...

I think the main reason for its boost is LMFAO performing it on TV, but the diving thing may've helped too. All I hear is people complaining like "Shouldn't they be training instead of dancing to LMFAO songs?"

Why?

She didn't win or perform and was one of the least interesting nominees. I'm more surprised at how long that weak track has hung around.

Horrid position for Sleigh Bells, I'd have been disappointed with that were it Sunday. Excellent to see Gotye holding up so well though, and Black Keys back on the rise.

It's to do with stock. Same happened with Michael Jackson. Everyone wanted the Number 1's album, the stock dried up and the Essential flew up there too!

Has Matt Cardle made the top 100 with this single?

Midweek Charts: Adele's 21 on verge of 4 million UK sales

Source: MW

By Paul Williams

Adele’s 21 will sometime today become only the eighth album in history to achieve 4 million UK sales and now looks like heading back to number one for a 21st week.

Boosted by the XL artist’s Brits performance of Rolling In The Deep and her winning best album and best British female, 21’s sales are 14.3% up on the week and by the end of business on Thursday the album was only about 600 sales short of leading this week’s artist albums market, according to the Official Charts Company.

With its cumulative UK sales by midnight on Thursday just around 3,000 short of 4 million, the album was just behind Brits Critics’ Choice winner Emeli Sande’s Virgin’s debut Our Version of Events. Sande’s album debuted at number one last Sunday and has been the biggest seller all this week, but 21 is very likely to have overtaken it by the time the final chart is published this weekend.

Double Brit winner Ed Sheeran’s Asylum/Atlantic album + moves 5-3 on the midweeks with a 52% sales rise, while Polydor act Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die falls 2-4 with a 43% sales slide, despite her own Brits win for best international newcomer, and Island act Gotye drops 4-5 with Making Mirrors.

Among the Brits contingent, there are sales gains for Parlophone act Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto (up 2.8%), Island’s Florence + The Machine with Ceremonials (up 36.8%) and Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna album Talk That Talk (up 4.1%), but there are week-on-week sales slides so far this week for latest albums by performers Noel Gallagher, Bruno Mars and Olly Murs. This, however, could all change by the time the final chart is published as there are still two days of sales to factor in.

Island’s Gotye looks like regaining the singles number one spot he lost last Sunday with Somebody That I Used To Know. The track that then replaced it at number one, the Ministry of Sound-issued Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh featuring Rita Ora, is down to three in the new chart week as Virgin act Emeli Sande holds at two with Next To Me.

Surprised Adele isn't #1 - assumed Emeli's 2nd week sales would be similar to Lana's 60k, and that Adele could match that.

There's still two days of sales left not taken into account.. don't forget this only includes two days (Weds/Thursday) of sales after the BRIT awards so I think it's definitely possible.

She's only around 600 behind and started the day roughly 3000 short of selling four million so she will have passed four million by now.
