It's kind of lacking airplay, but surely all the media hype for Plan B should easily see it sail into the top 5?

As for Chris Brown's Turn Up The Music, it's a good song but very generic - I can't see how it will number 1 just because it's got good airplay if Yeah 3x and Beautiful People didn't manage it (even I prefer it to the latter, awful overrated song).

Weren't both of those releases OA/OS? Maybe not exactly but I can't remember either having much airplay at all when they were released here.

Now you mention it, I think they were

I guess with all the potential sales squeezed into one week, it could have a chance, but I still think it will very likely miss it.

Beautiful People definitely was. It was released after the album. I remember because Look at Me Now TRASHED Beautiful People in the first week (I think LAMN debuted at #50-something and Beautiful People at #195), and then they chose Beautiful People for the UK. :drama: I can understand why fully, just what a disappointment lol.

Both Beautiful People and Yeah 3x had been on the Internet for months before they were released though.

I do wish they released Look At Me Now as the third single instead of going with Next To You followed by She Ain't You (which missed top 40) Chris Brown doesn't do much singing in LAMN, which makes it much better than any other song from him this era

Look At Me Now is such an iconic song. It's a song that actually had cultural impact and got media attention, whilst Beautiful People and Yeah 3x are so forgettable. It's a shame, but OH WELL.

It was the 13th best-selling song of 2011 in the US. It would've done much worse here, but I still think it could've been big. Radio 1 and Capital would've caved in and played it I think.

AND, Afrojack's production on Look At Me Now is MUCH better than what he did on Give Me Everything, let's be honest.

Starships (0.8353) is about to overtake Somebody That I Used To Know (0.8373)
I haven't seen/heard Plan B's song ANYWHERE since it premiered. :( And Chris Brown is on every music channel. :(

Thats because plan b isn't really a pop artist so will find it hard to get video airplay whereas chris brown makes generic us pop music that younger people like so they get played 700 times a week on mtv(see also rihanna/flo rida and katy perry)! :P

Think oa/os releases apply to radio premiere of a song, obviously in this day and age people can hear songs ages before this on the internet!

 3 Nicki Minaj - Starships

 4 Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

Go Nicki!!! Hopefully the video boost next week will finally get it to #1!

I think Alexandra has held up amazingly well, considering she dropped out of the top 10 last Sunday.

Now that I've said it, I bet she plummets now.:(

That effectively puts Gotye out of the running for next week then, if Nicki has already overtaken him. It would be funny if Nicki got to #1 without a music video.

Yeah, she has. I'm quite impressed. It happened recently with Dappy (until he got deleted :drama:) and Marcus Collins aswell. They free-fall when they're in the top 10, and then hover around the #11-#13 region for like 5 days. You'd think they'd plummet even faster without the top 10 effect.

The sales for Starships is going to be huge! it is everywhere on the radio at the moment, Capital and Radio 1 constantly play it!
Yeah, unless they're "current" (like Katy, Beyonce, etc.), I noticed most of them don't have much of their dicography selling well, even though they have many classics. Do you have any theories as to why?

I'd imagine it's mainly because alot of these tracks either don't appeal as much to the downloading demographic, or (more likely) they appear on ALOT of high-selling pop compilations, coupled with being high sellers to begin with, meaning more people that maybe WOULD be downloading them, already own them, perhaps?

08. Emeli Sande - 'Next to Me'

09. JLS - 'Proud'

^ And it's descent begins again. Will definitely be pushed out of the top ten next week with Chris Brown and Plan B likely to debut within.

30. You Me at Six - 'The Swarm'

^ Either next week's biggest faller or a drop out of the top 40 all together. Think I'd prefer the former, the band never seem to do well with singles past the first week, even 'Rescue Me' free-fell out of the chart after it's debut.

I actually want Turn Up The Music to go to #1, but i dont think it will, it may be as big as both Yeah 3x and Beautiful People though :)

'Call Me Maybe' is going to be massive upon its UK release. To think if the record company hadn't removed the song from iTunes, Carly might have already been top 10 with the song by now. In fact, had the track not been removed it probably would be #1 next week. Complete missed oppotunity (once again) by the record company.

It's doing so well all over the world, so I think it could be big here too.
