The best song of all time (imo) has to either be Adele - Someone Like You or The Killers - Mr Brightside.

Off-topic I know (but since since when did iTunes stay on topic? :P) but my top 5 is:

01 Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You

02 Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights

03 Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats

04 Christina Aguilera - Hurt

05 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

the bad touch by the bloodhound gang is always in the top 1000 as well

Well, there's loads of top 1000 staples. And some artists like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry usually have most of their singles in the top 1000. It probably helps if you're "current". I bet if Christina or Britney ever get really popular in the UK again, all their old songs will rise.

Other songs such as Wonderwall by Oasis, Pump It by the BEPs, How You Remind Me by Nickelback, Crazy in Love by Beyonce, Low by Flo Rida, Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon, and many others seem to always be in there without fail.

SCHNAP! 'Mr Brightside' will always be THE song to beat imo. Britney's 'Everytime' is 2nd and it's easily one of her more underrated tracks. People talk alot about 'Baby One More Time', 'Toxic', 'Oops I Did It Again', 'Womanizer' and stuff when they talk about Britney but not many seem to speak about 'Everytime' (or 'Stronger' which is up there for me!)! And it disappoints me greatly. Such a beautiful, simple and understated piece of pop music.

My list of favourite songs ever does not have any exact positions aside from the top 2.

1 The Prodigy - Breathe

2 The Prodigy - Firestarter

There are probably like 50 songs I've proclaimed to be in my all-time top 10, including several others by The Prodigy  Mr. Brightside is one of those I've said to be in my top 10.

Lol at "Someone Like You" being called the best song ever. "Mr. Brightside" was very high up in my top 100 favourites thread (#3, in fact) and I doubt that either "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" or "Knights of Cydonia" will receive similar acclaim in the future - although the latter is very much the "Stairway to Heaven" / "Bohemian Rhapsody" of the 2000s IMO.

Everytime is such a nice song, I agree. I hear it a lot though, thanks to Heart FM. It's probably her only song that they still play (I guess most of her stuff is too upbeat or too electronic for them ).

I couldn't possibly list my favourite songs ever. The most I can do is "best of the year", or I can try and rank them if people give me a list of songs (and even then I have difficulty). There's too many songs that I think are "ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE" for me to get my head around and attempt to pick one as my favourite.

It's impossibly hard for me to compile the all-time favourites too, maybe I'd know that about 40-50 songs should make the all-time top-100 for sure but I don't even know the order. And the other 50-60 songs are bound to be changed.

My all-time top-10 as it stands, very poppy, haha!

1. Kylie - Can't Get You Out of My Head

2. Sugababes - Stronger

3. Sugababes - Round Round

4. Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child

5. Nelly Furtado - Maneater

6. Aqua - Turn Back Time

7. Black Eyed Peas - My Humps (yes, Buzzjack! :D)

8. Ace of Base - The Sign

9. Sugababes - Hole in the Head

10. Gala - Freed from Desire

But everything outside the top-3, I think, is quite interchangeable.

my top 3 songs of all-time would be:

avril lavigne - my happy ending

dj sammy ft. yanou & do - heaven

alice deejay - better off alone

two of those are euphoric dance tracks, the other is an avril lavigne song so there's not much unpredictablity there. :kink:

If I had a top 200 I think Round Round, Maneater and My Humps might probably be in it (well, I think the latter two definitely).

Maneater really highlights how dance-pop music has deteriorated the past few years.

I loved Heaven (well, kind of. I love the normal version, but I HATED that piano ballad version they always played on the radio :drama: ).

Fantastic dance tracks too! 'Better Off Alone' is incredible and 'Heaven' is one of the greatest covers of all time. However, the best dance song ever for me is N Trance's 'Set You Free'! I'm gutted it didn't receive much of a boost thanks to being in one of those adverts. Well a cover of it. (In the style of Charlene Soraia's version of 'Wherever You Will Go') :( I was quite hopeful it would impact considering whenever it's used on a compilation it's quite often the most cherry picked track from that album. It often goes top 100 too!

My top 3 songs of all-time are:

1. Leona Lewis - Happy

2. Stevie Wonder - Redemption Song

3. Rihanna feat. Jay Z - Umbrella

Tad off topic, but I didn't really know where to ask. Anyone know if So Listen by Cody Simpson made the Top 200 last week?
my favourite song of all time is and probably always will be Fix You by Coldplay - cliche and overplayed for some, but no other song speaks to me like that does, other ones that would be 'up there' would be Beautiful Day (U2), Hurt (Johnny Cash's version), More Than a Feeling (Boston), One Day Like This (Elbow) and probably so many others...

Not really good at chosing my favourite songs of all time, but I imagine some of the following would feature -

Suede - Stay Together

Teenage Fanclub - Sparky's Dream

The Beatles - Here There & Everywhere

The Cure - Just Like Heaven

Vampire Weekend - A-Punk

Eels - Novocaine for the Soul

Air - Kelly Watch the Stars

And perhaps uncharacteristically:

Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes

Proud  #11 Niggas in Paris  #10

Have JLS performed?

79p Songs:

212 #16

Talk That Talk #20 :D

My top 3 songs of all-time are:

1. Leona Lewis - Happy

Also End Of Time at #44 now, climbing nicely hopefully a big hit

Its impossible to name a favourite song of all time, it'd be hard to choose 10

I did like the candelight remix too, but it has absolutely NOTHING on the normal version. whenever I tell people that I adore the song they always point me to how much they love the candlelight remix but don't rate the normal version which annoys me a bit, it just doesn't have the energy of the normal version. :drama:

Leave this board NOW! :o

Off the top of my head, a few songs that are probably somewhere up there with my favourites of all time (but it's a VERY long list which I could never order and would include the majority of The Prodigy's discography because I'm just a loon like that):

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (to get the obvious one out of the way first :D)

Toto - Africa

Bonde Do Rolê - Solta O Frango (bit of a random one I know but I consider this to be potentially my favourite song of the 00s, if I had a personal chart in 2007 this would have been #1 for months on end)

Biffy Clyro - Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies

Biffy Clyro - The Captain (I'm probably alone but this is by far my favourite off Only Revolutions)

Pendulum - Propane Nightmares

Pendulum - Watercolour

Pendulum feat. Liam Howlett - Immunize (slightly heavily biased from the link to The Prodigy but I genuinely do love this enough as a song for it to be on here)

Coldplay - quite a few (Viva La Vida, Fix You, The Scientist, Speed Of Sound, In My Place, Clocks)

Example - Stay Awake

U2 - Vertigo

My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade (will always have a special place for me as the song that first got me even remotely interested in music)

Sub Focus - Rock It

Chase & Status feat. Liam Bailey - Blind Faith

Chase & Status feat. Plan B - End Credits

Plan B - ill Manors (perhaps a bit too early to include this but it's rapidly heading this way)

System Of A Down - Chop Suey!

Serj Tankian - Empty Walls (similar to Welcome To The Black Parade above, although this one is a bit more 'obscure' being a #78 SMASH)

Young Knives - Turn Tail

Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla

Kanye West feat. Pusha T - Runaway

Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx - Gold Digger

Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

Madonna - Frozen

Nero - Guilt

Swedish House Mafia feat. Pharrell - One (Your Name)

Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah - Miami 2 Ibiza

The Bravery - An Honest Mistake

The Killers - Mr. Brightside (as mentioned above) + several others (Somebody Told Me, Smile Like You Mean It, When You Were Young, Bones, Human)

Take That - Patience

I could really go on forever here, I'll just stop there so I don't bore you all TOO much
