'Green light' by Roll deep and their other song which sounded exactly the same.

"Good Times" funny that was #1 the week that shower of shit were elected.....if only people knew what they were really like.

I think it was "chav power" that had a part to play with their #1s

Dizzee Rascal - Dirtee Disco

DJ Pied Piper - Do You Really Like It (was massive at the time, but haven't heard it in ages)

Gary Barlow - Love Won't Wait

Michael jackson. BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR

One of his weakest singles but went to number 1.

I love it, one of his best and most underated, in my eyes!

I love the Roll Deep ones but definitely think they're mainly forgotten now.

From the 2000s:

A good handful of Westlife, Busted and McFly #1s that only went there briefly because of their loon fans.

Manic Street Preachers - The Masses Against The Classes (doubt many could hum that one)

Black Legend - You See The Trouble With Me (brilliant, but you never hear it)

All Saints - Black Coffee (never mentioned/played when it comes to AS nostalgia)

Bob The Builder - Mambo No. 5 (astonished it ever made it especially only 2 years after the original)

Gareth Gates - Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake) (bet 95% of people could only name "Unchained Melody" or "Spirit In The Sky")

David Sneddon - Stop Living The Lie (most people would only associate Lemar with Fame Academy)

Daniel Bedingfield - Never Gonna Leave Your Side (it was "IYNTO" pt. II anyway)

Sam & Mark - With A Little Help From My Friends/Measure Of A Man (terrible and very flash-in-the-pan)

Nelly - My Place/Flap Ya Wings AND Ja Rule ft. Ashanti & R. Kelly - Wonderful (god 2004 WAS an awful year!)

U2 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (great song but I had completely forgot if even got near #1)

Nizlopi - The JCB Song (again, could anyone even hum this now)

Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua - What A Wonderful World (zzzzzzzzz)

Mint Royale - Singin' In The Rain (all down to BGT, probably stayed in public conscious for not long after)

Kid Rock - All Summer Long (has anybody ever heard this since summer 2008?!)

Vanessa Jenkins & Bryn West ft. Sir Tom Jones & Robin Gibb - (Barry) Islands In The Stream (one joke too far, just dire)

Peter Kay's Animated Allstar Band - The Official BBC Children In Need Medley (cute for about a week)

Hope For Haiti - Everybody Hurts (I could barely name 5 people who were on this)

Dizzee Rascal - Dirtee Disco (nobody will ever remember him for this one)

Shout For England ft. Dizzee Rascal & James Cordon - Shout (YAY ITZ DA WORLD CUP... OH FFS WE'RE OUT *drops 25 places*)

JLS - The Club Is Alive (came from nowhere and got left firmly in 2010)

Give it a few years...

Nero - Promises

Wretch 32 ft. Josh Kumra - Don't Go

Cover Drive - Twilight

Jeez- quite a few- i'd say Boyzone's "All That I Need" and Ne-Yo's "So Sick" are probably forgotten by the general public, as is Ciara's "Goodies".
Nizlopi - The JCB Song (again, could anyone even hum this now)

oh I could easily sing this back to you! well the chorus anyway  I don't think thats forgotten, I agree with the rest of your list though

"Stomp" was quite a random song for Steps to top the chart, especially since they only have other (and far more remembered) #1.

Such a shame that they didn't lead with It's The Way You Make Me Feel, would have been a FAR more deserving #1 and then Stomp could have slipped in at #3 in January as the second single and let Fragma peak at #2 with Everytime You Need Me!

It did, another one from 2009 is Oopsy Daisy by Chipmunk, what a rife year for non-number 1s, we've come up with 4 more or less right away
Really? I don't think I'd class 'Oopsy Daisy' in this category, personally. I can see why people would think 'Never leave You' as 'Number 1' and even his non-number 1 'Take Me Back' are far more memorable. But I still hear a few people quote Chipmunk now and again.

Nizlopi 'The JCB Song'? Really? I sadly agree with Nelly 'My Place' though. :( Such an underrated song.

Oh and 'Good Times' and 'Green Light' are still pretty much doing the rounds in my circle of friends.

'Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake)' is the Gareth Gates #1 that I remember best!

'JCB Song' is far from forgotten for me at least.

I still hear 'Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own' quite a lot.

Edited by M.I.É.

I think Evacuate the Dancefloor by Cascada and Bulletproof by La Roux are the two most forgotten #1s in recent years (although there's probably some more, but I've forgotten about them ).
Going further back....I doubt many people remember this from 1982:

I've never even heard of this song. I doubt many people on here were even in existence when this came out.

Dirtee Disco's definitely one of the most unmemorable of recent years. I don't think I can recall ever hearing it, even at the time!

I wouldn't say Bulletproof's been forgotten...

I love "The Hindu Times"! In my Top 3 songs of theirs, but then again I'm not really a fan.

I remember this wonder VIVIDLY but go outside music fanatics and I think we have a bit of a HUH? moment...

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned '3 Of A Kind - Baby Cakes' - or perhaps that's because it's *so* unmemorable that everyone has forgotten it?

Are you joking? I understand not everybody likes that song, but I'd say it's one of the more memorable ones (partly for that reason).

Another one is Don't Hold Your Breath by Nicole Scherzinger. It's only a year ago aswell.

I think we have a future "unmemorable" Number 1 sitting at the top right now in Chris Brown.

Ok picked a random year - 2010

Songs I can't even hum...

Helping Haiti : Everybody Hurts (I can hum the REM version but can't even remember a cover being number 1)

Jason Derulu : In My Head (?)

Scouting For Girls : This Ain't A Love Song

David Guetta : Gettin Over You

Roll Deep : Green Light

Ciara - Goodies

Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers

Both good songs. But totally fogettable that they were once #1.

Jason Derulo's 'Don't Wanna Go Home' from as recently as last June I still can't believe was number 1  Similar with Ke$ha's 'We R Who We R'...in a few years if you asked me what their number 1 hits were, I'd probably name 'Ridin' Solo' and 'Tik Tok' over those!
