Marina needs to get into that Top 10 which then hopefully will push her #7-8. Underrated :(

What's one directions next single? Have a feeling it's going to flop hard...

Global Radio’s Capital FM and Heart brands have not aired music by One Direction since the boy band accidentally thanked Radio One while accepting a Brit award in February that was voted for by Capital listeners.

It has been reported that Global’s executive president and founder Ashley Tabor placed an immediate ban on mentions of One Direction or plays of their songs on-air following the blunder.

The morning after the Brit Awards, Capital FM was due to announce One Direction’s tour dates as part of a co-promotion, but dropped the deal and removed all mentions from its website, Radio Today reports.

One Direction issued a statement apologising for ‘forgetting’ to thank Capital FM listeners.

Figures from Compare My Radio show that in the period between January 1 and February 21 this year, 95.8 Capital FM in London played What Makes You Beautiful 50 times and follow-up single One Thing twice.

According to information from ‘Now Playing’ feeds, between February 22 and April 18 the station hasn’t played a single One Direction track.

Statistics from CompareMyRadio show the single What Makes You Beautiful – the song which won the Best Single prize at the Brits, sparking the controversy, is still the group’s track that is most played by all UK radio stations, six months after its release.

A spokeswoman for Global Radio told Radio Today: “We never comment on playlist decisions.”

Marina needs the 59p effect desperately. Glad Train & B.o.B. holding up nicely and Carly holding on although I wouldn't mind Fun. getting there also.

Blue Jeans  to #40! :yahoo:

Although it's #35 if you take away 59p songs above it. I am really starting to hate all these 59p songs overtaking other songs all the time. I wouldn't mind if it was a current song and it was used to extend its chart run or to reach a new peak. But when it causes so many new enteries to the top 40 that just drop out afterwards, it's just too much for me :(

Apparently Lana is performing on the first live show of The Voice UK, so that should definitely secure her a top 40 placing at least! :D

That really annoys me too! :arrr: What is it this time?

See this is why I wish she was releasing "National Anthem" instead, would be amazing live and would probably do a little better charts-wise.

She's pretty unpredictable live, so it could sound absolutely shite which is the reason she hasn't performed it live yet :P

I do agree though, 'Blue Jeans' is one of the weakest on the album but 'National Anthem' is one of the highlights! :(

Confirmed performances

The Voice UK

Emeli Sande

Lana Del Rey

Scissor Sisters

Britain's Got Talent

The Wanted

Cheryl Cole

Tulisa

Excited for them already. Haven't watched any of BGT this series - but may just watch the results shows for the performances. Only problem with the BGT live shows is that they'll be five performers - one each night, so they can't all possibly reach #1 - but I guess The Wanted and Cheryl Cole are merely promoting the song, rather than promoting it on its release week.

To be fair though, they'll now probably get every song of theirs playlisted by Radio 1 because of that.

Not sure if it'll flop without the Capital airplay though. Obviously, it'd hurt a lot, but them being big in the US now will probably help.

One Direction won't flop hard at all now considering they "made it" to the US and have general British support for them. Basically if it's new material, it's a surefire Top 3 for them on release week.

What Makes You Beautiful's current chart run in the US is: 28-50-44-33-19-11-9-4-4-

It's doing extremely well, and I can see it spending 10+ weeks in the top 10, but I can't see it peaking any higher than #3 now.

Capital is such an abomination of a radio station. Can it just cease to exist please?

indeed, I don't think I've ever heard a song on there that hasn't done well in the charts -_-

ALL commercial radio is dire. I heard We Found Love 4 times and Moves Like Jagger 3 today between 8 & 2:30! :manson:

The only one I'd ever even consider listening to by choice is Absolute because they have a no repeat guarantee!

Orianthi 'According To You' was quite popular with them around September 2010, did absolutely nothing in the chart.

I really hate how they repeat the songs so much as it's the only radio station which I'm guarenteed to like at least 75% of the songs. I've heard Part Of Me so much in the few days since I've been back from America (it's everywhere there too!) It's killed my once love for it.

Capital played this song called Animal by Neon Trees LOADS aswell, and that flopped I think. But in general, the station is so popular that it's difficult for a song that they play to flop. And they used to play one of LMFAO's songs loads (this was before Party Rock Anthem), and then they decided not to release it.

I'm annoyed at how little they've played Niggas in Paris and Mirror though. And also annoyed me how they played The A Team and Lego House so much but never You Need Me.

I like the station overall though. I listen to Radio 1 a lot, but sometimes I don't like it since I only actually enjoy the minority of songs that they play. Chioce FM and Radio 1Xtra are my favourites. But I can listen to a lot of foreign radio stations on my phone now, so I don't listen to UK radio that much anymore. I think UK radio can be quite bad really. I remember getting so angry at how much I used to hear songs like Forget You, The Flood, Just the Way You Are, etc. I'm sure I'd be feeling the same way now about Moves Like Jagger, Domino, Titanium, etc. if I still listened to those radio stations so much.

I did not realise that Capital could really be that petty, they always seemed above that type of thing. It is a shame, but it seems management are letting their fragile egos get in the way of just playing what people want to hear. They forget that One Direction may be crap but they have millions of very young fans who will be future listeners. At this rate I am going to start listening to R1.

Which countries radio station do you listen to?

Which countries radio station do you listen to?

I don't know! Basically my phone just has a massive list of of them. It just has the title of each station, no information about them. But when I listen to them loads of them play songs that aren't well known in this country, and the presenters speak in a different language that I can't tell. Some of the radio stations from there are from the US though. I can't tell the difference between them, so I usually just listen until the station starts playing a song that I don't like, then I move on to the next station.
