I was about 7/8 when this song came out but I still remember the moment he sang it on the X Factor :) My favourite winners song I think!

15. Shayne Ward - That's My Goal

2005

#1

Shayne Ward was the second winner of the X Factor and this was his winner's song. It's the only original song to date used as an X Factor winner's single, making it the only Christmas #1 between 2003 and 2010 that was a newly released original song. Despite this doing over a million Shayne never had another #1 - unlike the other X Factor winner still to come on this countdown.

The only X Factor winning song which isn't a cover I think?

The only original X Factor song! Why did his comeback flop! :( I liked Gotta Be Somebody (if that was what it was even called! :P )

Poker Face! I remember when this came out, it was MASSIVE at my school, it was everyone's ringtones :P

I remember seeing it on starz music channel and thinking 'wow she's pretty!'

Class pop song (although not her best) and properly great video. Odd to think that as recently as 2009 sales were that low that the biggest song of the year is only #14 here.

14. Lady Gaga - Poker Face

2009

#1

The second of four #1 hits to date by super megastar turned regular sized megastar Lady Gaga. This remains her highest seller but seems to have nonetheless been overshadowed a bit by 'Bad Romance' - you never really hear 'Poker Face' any more do you? I don't anyway.

I now hand you over to Rob!

I remember the week this got to number 1 - we were all counting the non movers and risers in the chart show thread and suddenly we realised by about number 4 that Poker Face was actually number 1!

The biggest song of 2009, but not the biggest song from 2009. Still would have done even better in 2010/2011 climates
