I find it interesting that some labels are able to delete the fake versions while others don't. I wonder if there's a reason for that (i.e. it costs to get fakes deleted or some labels can't for some reason?).

Whistle definately won't reach #1 this week though I am half expecting it to be reach #2. Next week it will certainly be Cheryl and now Maroon 5 will have an easy #1 the following week. Had Whistle been released the same week as Maroon 5, I am almost certain it would have beaten Payphone.

Whistle's only chance is if one of the above underperforms or it takes advantage in late June/July due to a lack of new releases. I can see Maroon 5 being incredibly front loaded

I wish people wouldn't predict a Maroon 5 no.1. I don't want to be getting my hopes up after what happened LAST TIME.

I think it's possible that, whilst most of the "fake" versions aren't legal, that maybe this one of Whistle is, so the label have no grounds to get it deleted.

Or maybe they don't mind, as long as they specify in the title that it's a cover version and not the original.

If you look on iTunes, there's actually loads of fake versions like that of songs released after the original too. So I bet some people just do them for all the hits, not taking into account whether they're released or not.

For example, Talk That Talk by Rihanna and Jay-Z (which wasn't exactly a big hit), there's versions of it by "Rihanna Cover Band", "The Beautiful People", "Talk That Talk", "Dubstep Kings", "New Year 2012 Dance Party", "Joel", "2012 Happy New Year", "#1 Hits Now", "Tribute Mega Stars", "Karaoke Pop Hit DJ's", "Karaoke Top Hit Crew", and many others.

Obviously, Talk That Talk wasn't held back (being a post-album song), so none of those covers were made to cash in on the song not being available already. I think a lot of the covers like this one of Whistle that chart before release of the original might not actually be trying to make money off the song not being available. People make them regardless.

I don't think it's up to do labels, it's up to the retailer (here iTunes). I can imagine if they don't get pushed by Flo Rida's label, they won't delete any fake versions.

Whistle should go top 10 tonight :cheer: hopefully knocking out Alex Clare!

I attempted to purchase the song but it's not letting me? Has anyone else got this problem?

If you try and click on it, it says not available in the UK, so maybe they added it by mistake then deleted it again :o

:P

When i click the REAL verison of 'Whistle' its saying its not out in UK? Has this happened to anyone else?
I suppose they are only downloading it to remove Cheryls wailing from their memory.

Aww, real Whistle added? There goes any chance of Can You Blow My even going top 40 :( Probably means Maroon 5 will get to #1 now as well. I should have expected no less from such an AWFUL week for the charts though. (I do really like 'Whistle' though). Hopefully Maroon 5 will now also release early and bugger up their chances.

Coldplay and Rihanna back up to #9, thank GOD - hopefully they'll stay top 10 now. Bieber/Ludacris at #14 but if they were going top 10 they probably would have done so by now, fingers crossed it'll stall like DIYA (although that turned out to be an okay if a little dull song).

Lady Antebellum still climbing? They're pretty much definitely going to re-enter the top 40 then <_<

Anyway, nice to see Superstition back in the top 40, a couple of Madness classics in the top 100 + 'The A Team' and 'Let It Be', at least some good things have come of this concert - just a shame its main effect has been further increasing Gary's lead and sending fecking Lady Antebellum back into the top 25.

Don't you like Lady Antebellum Bre?

The song is so fierce. I wish it could go to number 1

Read the comment above yours ;)

The same thing was happening with "Run to You" by Leanne Mitchell on Sunday - it'll be fixed shortly I would assume.
To those saying the fake version has ruined any chances of 'Whistle' reaching #1, I never really expected it to be a contender in the first place. To me, it's just another 'Good Feeling'/'Wild Ones', a song that if hopefully released this week (aka they correct the error on iTunes), will be a long-running top 10 single. 'Wild Ones' for example had a chart run of 05-05-06-05-04-04-04-05-. I'm just amazed that Flo Rida is likely to get a third top 10 hit from a single album, he became infamous for having only one big hit from each album ('Low', 'Right Round', 'Club Can't Handle Me').
Weirdly enough you can't purchase Whistle on iTunes but it's still cimbing...

Yeah, he tends to have massive hits and massive flops (like Rihanna, but more extreme ).

Now that he's had 3 big hits off one album, he might get better album success. And he also might end up the biggest-selling singles artist of 2012 the way it's going (it was Rihanna in both 2010 and 2011). As it stands, it looks like it's currently David Guetta (it should be Sia, but they don't include featured artists).

I kept getting the same message but I pressed to download and it worked for me

Let it Go  #91

Need You Now looks like it's a contender for top 40 officially come Sunday then :o

Superstition, Stevie Wonder at #37

Scream #2, looks like it'll be bigger then Climax, still no video?

Justin Bieber heading for top 10?

I like Too Close obviously, but would rather that leave the top 10 then Princess of China as thats had its time in the top 10 now whereas POC hasnt yet! POC also has an EP selling well on iTunes album chart at #27 :D
