August 9, 201213 yr Michel Teló's Ai Se Eu Te Pego is Greg James' 'Big Thing' this week, although not on the playlist yet. I wonder if it will get added in the coming weeks, shame they've got a female rent-a-rapper on board for the UK release though, it's great as it is :/
August 9, 201213 yr Author I don't see how having a rapper on the song will help at all, unless its for you guys to have something in english

I wonder if it will get added in the coming weeks, shame they've got a female rent-a-rapper on board for the UK release though, it's great as it is :/ Oh well, it could've been worse - we could have got the version featuring Pitbull (as much as I like him, his vocals don't work well on the song) or the English version (If I Catch You). I haven't heard of this Becky G person but I think the song could've done fine without her.
August 9, 201213 yr I don't see how having a rapper on the song will help at all, unless its for you guys to have something in english I should think that's exactly it...typical UK record companies -_- It's catchy enough to pick up the lyrics even if you don't understand any of them...
August 9, 201213 yr Ai Se Eu Te Pego has done amazingly in virtually all European countries and only Portugal predominantly speak Portugese. Admittedly we have less foreign language hits than most countries but I think it doing so well despite not being sung in a widely spoken language shows that the right songs can break the language barrier.
August 9, 201213 yr Why is Sleep Alone not into the blist? GAreat song but its oa/os so it needs support!! That new XX song is gorgeous!!

It seems to be the year of cheeky Brazilian hits. Since then there's been "Balada", and now there's "Bara Bare Bere Bere" raging the charts.
August 9, 201213 yr "Handwritten" and "Runaways" are both great to see - the former as it confirms it's the next single and could have "Gold On The Ceiling"-style success (peaking higher than the even better lead single thanks to constant R1 rotation and a timely price reduction), the latter as it's a relief they're not snubbing The Killers this time and it's a while to go until its release.

I think I actually prefer the Pitbull version to the original to be honest haha. I guess as long as it's a hit here any version is fine with me though!
August 9, 201213 yr Great to see The Script and will.i.am's collaboration getting playlisted - only heard it the once, but hopeful/sure of it being a hit.
August 9, 201213 yr I heard that song on TV today (the Michael Telo one)! :o I don't really like it and I hope it doesn't do well in the charts. Edited August 9, 201213 yr by Griff

August 9, 201213 yr There's always the chance that they'll release the original version as well as a rent-a-rapper version in the digital bundle, as has happened on other occasions. On itunes, it lists the EP as:- 1) Version with Becky 2) Original 3) Version with Pitbull Will be interesting on how it does, I think it could do quite well, top 10 at least if it gets support. I wonder what if its the original version being played on TV or if they have made a newer one with the UK edit on?
August 9, 201213 yr Surprised to see the Killers on there - I thought that it was a definite Radio 1 snub as a) they don't appeal to Tweens, b) it is a rocky song and c) They are on their fourth album. All knells of death as far the R1 playlist goes...

It's been massive all over Europe A major surprise it's been released here - a foreign language song released in the UK - not before time too. Edited August 9, 201213 yr by euro music

All knells of death as far the R1 playlist goes... Excuse me but what the fuck are you on about? Radio 1 playlist a LOT of songs that are 'rocky' and 'don't appeal to tweens'. Look at Muse and Twin Atlantic on their A-List right now. I thought R1 critics were generally annoyed about R1 *ignoring* songs that 'appeal to tweens' in favour of 'rocky songs'
August 9, 201213 yr Oh Cheryl's been added, that's a relief. For some reason I'm very worried about Radio 1 snubbing her and the slight delay in playlisting this made me a bit suspicious. Should have no problem in going top 10 now!

I wonder if it will get added in the coming weeks, shame they've got a female rent-a-rapper on board for the UK release though, it's great as it is :/ Oh my god. I was praising the UK for being the last country to resist to this terrible song/hysteria. It can sound nice on first listen, but believe it, when you have all the 13yo to 55yo girls/women miming the stupid choreography everytime the song is played on the radio or in a club (which was every 2 minutes I guess), it gets VERY annoying and after 2 weeks you get SICK of it. Delighted for Cheryl, The XX and Two Door Cinema Club, great tracks all around !
August 9, 201213 yr Little Mix A listed? :o I can see this song sailing to number one and them doing pretty well to be honest. And delighted for Cheryl. :D
