I could be wrong, but I think Cover Drive are performing on Red or Black on Saturday! Don't know what song though seeing as it was recorded a couple of months ago!

They're with Global Radio aren't they? Ala The Wanted, Justin Bieber and Lawson. Expect to see them on X-Factor too.

Yeah, I think they are actually!

In regards to the new releases, I saw that Nervo's 'You're Gonna Love Again' is released on Sunday! Surprise top 200, it seems like the sort of song that would get airplay on the music channels on Sky that I can't get! :kink:

Apparently, there are rumours going around that Taylor Swift and her company have brought the 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' release date forward to this Sunday! It's going to be huge. It won't debut at number 1, but I'm expecting a fun. 'We Are Young' sort of run for it.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if it outpeaks 'You Belong With Me'/'Mine' and maybe even 'Both Of Us' but I definitely can't see it doing anywhere near that well. Nothing she ever releases ever will. She's still flopped with her last few releases ('Both Of Us' did alright but peaked and plummeted very quickly) even after inexplicably getting Radio 1 on board!

It sounds a lot 'poppier' than a lot of her other material. I think it could do really well IF it gets the airplay, and I'm not so sure she will (in the UK anyway).

But this track has smashed WW and I don't think I've seen a WW domination like this since 'Born This Way' ('Somebody That I Used to Know' was a hit at very different times so it doesn't count - same with 'Someone Like You'). Everyone seems to be talking about it too. It's going to be a monster hit.

I remain sceptical.

I see Wikipedia describes it as 'bubblegum pop' - what has Carly Rae Jepsen started? :(

Yep, I've seen this on Twitter too! I really hope its true, I think releasing it ASAP is the best way of making this a hit here with the massive hype currently surrounding it!

Queen Carly has started a POP REVOLUTION, just like Britney with 'Baby One More Time'! :D

Cover Drive performing on X Factor would actually be such a joke, I can't wait to see their intro. "ONE NUMBER ONE SINGLE (with zero longevity), 50 ALBUMS SOLD, COVER DRIVE".

So you've not heard it? How can you judge a songs success if you've not heard it?

Based on the fact Taylor has never done well in the UK apart from one time? I may have been a bit quick to judge it admittedly given its worldwide success which I wasn't aware of but my gut instinct is still 'if it's Taylor Swift, it's not going to do very well' :P

(It's not like you need to hear a song to be able to predict where it'll chart anyway. I already know that, for example, Maroon 5's next single is likely to be quite a big hit. This is not going to change when I hear it and inevitably think it's horrific).

Somewhere Iz is weeping for you saying that about Coverdrive James.

07. Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

08. Elbow - One Day Like This

14. Ryan O'Shaughnessy - No Name

15. Cheryl - Under The Sun

49. Aiden Grimshaw - Curtain Call (Poor Aiden would have got top 40 had it not been for the olympics)

82. Loreen - Euphoria

97. Rita Ora - How We Do (Party)

But surely the last couple of years have taught you, that anyone can get a hit no matter how irrelevant they were before that.

'Can' is the operative word here. That doesn't mean it should be expected for irrelevant acts to get big hits.

A little revisionist of pop history there, hello Billie, B*Witched, Aqua, etc lol

I'm too young for the likes of Billie, B*Witched and Aqua! :kink: 'Baby One More Time' is the first song I can recall having a massive impact on music and culture!

I remain sceptical.

a-Ha were described as bubblegum pop when they started out. Now you would be laughed out of court if you called them that.

 13. Lawson 'Taking Over Me'

She's hardly irrelevant in the same way Christina, J-Lo etc. were before getting their surprise smashes. She might not have had single success but SpeakNow and Fearless both sold decently, and WANEGBT has a very commercial sound that I'm sure she'll get a hit with. I just hope she releases it ASAP, or you will actually be right and momentum will be lost and she'll have nothing much bigger than Mine on her hands.
