 36. Madness - Muse

Ooh, this is doing quite well. Might outpeak Survival since it actually has most of the week to sell for a change.

I think maybe this Muse song will go top 10 on iTunes. Survival peaked around #11 or #12 on iTunes iirc, I can see this doing slightly better at least.
You're fine to have your opinion and think it's rubbish, my problem is that some of your posts seem to be intentionally hating on her/the song (see the post I quoted before) in a way that it could be seen as something different.

I say this with Taylor & Gaga being my two favourite artists.

I have a decided preference for wholesome 'girl-next-door' artists like Taylor, Kylie, Katie Melua, Katherine Jenkins, etc.

I think the "pop girl boom" is over now tbh. I mean, seriously, nearly every time they try and make a comeback, they flop. I think even Rihanna is going to struggle a bit with her next album. I think the Hot 100 at least, is going to be more dominated by artists like fun. and Gotye for the next few years. Let's face it, their songs are the songs that have caught public attention now, and are more interesting to people than the stuff Katy Perry, etc. have been releasing.

Speak for yourself...

This thread is like a massive facepalm moment.

What the bit about Gotye and fun? I can't speak for everybody, but I think that there's evidence to support that. For example, in the US, I (almost) guarantee you that Some Nights will be a bigger hit than Pound the Alarm and Where Have You Been, maybe even Wide Awake.

I don't mind Gotye, but to me 'We Are Young' was just a dirge.

Please Mr Griffon, do elaborate...

There are a lot of members who are missing the points of some of the posts, there are terrible jokes, there are melodramatic posts, there are terrible emoctions and there are some very cringey posts.

I am aware that I am being hypocritical.

My surname is Griffiths, not Griffon. :kink:

Yeah, those songs won't be to everybody's taste, but judging by their chart success, and the underperformance of certain other songs recently, I think it's fair to say a lot of people are prefering this "new" sound that they're starting to hear on the radio now.

Heard it this morning. Fairlplay I was half asleep but I found it a bit boring. I just don't know if they can sell Leona anymore.

As much as you can use Gotye or fun. to oppose this 'pop girl boom', a certain Carly Rae Jepsen happens to have one of the years biggest hits, and Taylor is doing amazingly worldwide, so I wouldn't really say it's on it's way out, but fun pop seems to be coming back, while people are growing slightly tired of the electro side.

Katy only needs to come back with another fun summer pop song like California Gurls and she should fit in fine wity the current pop climate.

So what do you all thinking about the new Leona song?

It's average... not a MASS like Collide of course.

Its brilliant, with oddly the best bit on my first listen being Childish Gambino, who captured the mood of the song perfectly.

I think an easy 4th #1 for her unless something absolutely massive is out that week also. Its way more commercial than Happy and that sold 80-odd-k in a 3 year old sales climate.

And you are right, Collide was a mess. With a chart run to prove it.

Well I will give it a listen, but only if she hasn't nicked a sample of a song that is due to be released soon ("Fade into Darkness") or horrifically brutally murdered and ruined a brilliant song ("Hurt") which she sang despite having no concept of what the lyrics were about/mean..

Hate to use this smiley but

No she's done neither of those, it's like one of Emeli Sande's darker tracks. I'd liken it to a slower version of Daddy.
