September 23, 20213 yr Author Can’t say I’m excited about this tbh, the show turned to shit towards the end and I just can’t see it being like the gritty, realistic, exciting first few series.
September 23, 20213 yr Wow this is great. I wonder how they will explain the move back to Manchester or will it just be glossed over as never happening? Haha
September 23, 20213 yr This is interesting as I’ve been rewatching the whole series this Summer with intent to finish it this time. I dropped out halfway through series 8 last time. I’m not sure why they didn’t just go with a brand new school drama as everything got so messed up. The move to Scotland really killed to show, its amazing to think it got another 3 series then. It’s good that it’ll be in Greater Manchester again But I wonder how they will tie it to the old series. The mainstays were all killed off, weren’t they? I’m not sure they’ll be able to capture the feeling of the first five series again.
September 23, 20213 yr I can imagine it being for when BBC Three returns as a linear channel, I feel that would make more sense and a better fit!
September 24, 20213 yr I can imagine it being for when BBC Three returns as a linear channel, I feel that would make more sense and a better fit! I thought this too but it isn’t, it’s heading back to BBC1!
September 24, 20213 yr I think they’d have been better off by having the BBC produce a new school drama. Like this may have Waterloo Roads name but I can’t see it having any continuation from what we knew as Waterloo Road. I’ll watch it but yeah I’m confused at why it’s returning and moving back to Manchester as well. I’ll wait until I see it but yeah a new show might’ve worked better. When Waterloo Road was first on air it should’ve ended around 3 series or so before it did. If it comes back then I hope it’s more stripped back and we don’t get too overexposed with too many episodes. It went downhill once we started to get more episodes as they focused on quantity over quality. Edited September 25, 20213 yr by Jord

September 25, 20213 yr I'm excited to see this coming back though I think I'd prefer if they had as few links to the original series as possible. No mention of Scotland, just a school in Manchester with a brand new cast (I mean obviously the kids wouldn't be the same ones anyway). There's definitely a place for Waterloo Road in 2021 but wrapping itself up in continuity isn't going to do it any favours IMO.
September 25, 20213 yr I think one link would be cool like a past pupil becoming a teacher would be fun
October 4, 20213 yr I think one link would be cool like a paat pupil becoming a teacher would be fun Janeece to return as a teacher pls
December 1, 20213 yr Adam Thomas has confirmed he is returning as a teacher, but he won't be playing Donte.
December 2, 20213 yr Adam Thomas has confirmed he is returning as a teacher, but he won't be playing Donte. That seems a bit unusual.
January 24, 20223 yr Angela Griffin is returning as Kim Campbell who is now Headteacher. Chlo and Donte also returning. I’m guessing their daughter is now old enough to be in High School?
January 24, 20223 yr Author Well this is all very exciting and definitely what was needed if the show was going to stand a chance of being a hit with viewers. Hopefully they have some good script writers to go with it.
January 24, 20223 yr Getting Kim, Chlo & Donte back is a good way to launch with a throwback to the show's golden days. I think that's enough returning characters tbh although I wouldn't be opposed to a Janeece return which I suspect will also happen. We just need to hope the writing is on top form now.
January 24, 20223 yr Oh, guess that news about Adam Thomas not playing Donte was FAKE then oop. Glad that we're getting a few returnees now

The actress who played Janeece is currently in Hollyoaks (playing pretty much the same character tbf). Can’t see her coming back unless she quit the role as I think HO are rather strict about their cast members doing other projects whilst on the show.
