September 11, 2024Sep 11 I’ve just finished episode 5, Coral is an icon this season which I wasn’t expecting, she’s had such a glow up the past few seasons and great character development.
September 21, 2024Sep 21 Lindsey Coulson is reportedly joining the next series as the replacement headteacher :cheeseblock:
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Finished the series, having watched at weekly pace. Jason Manford did a very good job. I didn't even see him as just that comedian I've seen on telly for years. It was frustrating, as someone who has been bullied, to see Billy not actively stand up to Schuey, and it feels like that hasn't been fully dealt with either. I'm glad they gave Libby some form of character development and the scenes with Luca were also nice. Ditto the scenes between Noel and Preston. I do imagine the sixth formers may be leaving the show now but it'll be interesting to see what they do. I wish they spoke a bit more about Steve's recklessness (like with Carla). I'm just glad the loose ends were all tied up. For some reason I didn't know if I could see Donte & Nicky lasting. It did feel like the cracks formed as soon as Steve came into the picture.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 Finally watched the series, and I have mixed feelings. On one hand I definitely think it's the best series of the revival so far (which isn't really saying much as none of them - this one included - have managed to fully capture the essence of what Waterloo Road was in the original run), and on the other hand it was a series of two halves once again with the first four episodes being very mediocre and just dealing with mundane school life and introducing new characters while the final four episodes really stepped it up a gear. Schuey's storyline has been so messy, and still there's no end in sight with it either or any consequences for what he's done over the last two series. It's like they can't decide whether they want to portray the character as a misunderstood delinquent that deserves more, or a vicious lost cause that's going to get his day eventually. Billy coming into the show was the perfect opportunity for them to finish it all nicely, but they fumbled it by introducing Boz and having it play out the way it did. Other than that, I really enjoyed Jason Manford (even if he did end up being highly unlikeable like Tom Chambers was in series 5), and Billy was a great character. Episode 5 was the highlight of the series for me seeing Luca being introduced and Coral being iconic. Lord knows why they didn't have her as a deputy all along instead of Joe. Here's hoping series 15 builds on the strengths of episodes 5-8 of this series. Also praying Lindsey Coulson stays around for more than just one series because I think that's where the show started to go downhill with the constant revolving door of headteachers. We need more 2-3 series heads like Jack, Rachel, Karen and Michael.

December 12, 2024Dec 12 The BBC have confirmed Jason Merrells will be guest starring in series 15, returning as Jack!! :o wasn't expecting that, but very excited! Also confirmed that series 15 is coming in February.
February 11Feb 11 As expected, Lindsey Coulson is absolutely outstanding, classic Waterloo Road right from the off.
February 11Feb 11 Very happy this is back and Stella is a breath of fresh air as a head. Nice to have Celine back as an adult and the continuity there with her and Donte.
February 12Feb 12 This was the best season of the revival, absolutely incredible run of episodes, particularly from Stella, Schuey, Amy and Libby/Jared.
February 12Feb 12 I'm up to episode three, so this contains spoilers. It's been good so far, but the time scale is more bizarre than ever. Episode 2 - Coral announces that she is pregnant. Neil says his younger daughter will be arriving next week. Episode 3 - Younger daughter turns up and Coral is six months pregnant. If the series started at the beginning of a new school year, how are teachers leaving for the pub in broad daylight in episode three? If new boy Ashton has been behaving so badly for all these months, why has the hardline head allowed him to stay?
February 12Feb 12 Regarding the episode timeline In episode 2 it is suggested that Coral is further along in her pregnancy as Neil asks about how the baby is already kicking. Episode 3 is definitely the following week so just likely that Coral didn't know how far along she was. Generally though I don't think we're ever supposed to know when exactly in the school year it is. I assume this is September/October but it's never really been confirmed at what point in the year any of the series are lol.

February 16Feb 16 Episode 6 is classic Waterloo Road. Let's introduce a trans character. Just so we can tick another box, let's also introduce her grandmother who has dementia. Then we'll kill the grandmother off in the same episode. There, we've done trans issues and dementia now. OTOH, the treatment of domestic violence is being done well (apart from Amy's idiotic behaviour). Jared's constant gaslighting is all too typical of the perpetrators of this horrible crime.
April 2Apr 2 I just completed the series today, watching at weekly pace. It was a definite step up on the previous one for me. That one felt too heavy on villains, if anything.I think they handled the Libby & Jared stuff as well as they could have. I will miss Amy though if she's not back.I'm glad they have given Donte a bit more to do as well. Nicky didn't feature much but her & Debs scrapping got old.I'm liking Neil a lot more too.
