All of the releases this week are utter rubbish. This Ne-Yo song though? Crikey. Can we please move on from the cheesy euro-dance now.
I like that Wings is putting up a bit of a fight.

Yeah, I wish Ne-Yo would've released a song like this as his single tbh:

I'd rather him chart at #35 with a great song that I love, rather than chart at #4 with a song that I'll never listen to again.

^ Loving Trey's face in that thumbnail.

I'm very disappointed at Pink performing better than I expected, this is a really poor rehash of her previous hits, in my opinion, which has already got boring for me. :/

...and Ne-Yo's new single isn't dreadfully generic? :D

I'm actually impressed that Pink has managed to get to #1. I never thought 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' would get there either but it reminds me of when 'Just Like A Pill' got to no. 1 in 2001 when all the signs suggested Busted would be no. 1 with the truly abysmal 'What I Go To School For'.

It might be "generic" (this word is overused on Buzzjack :P ) but it's a very good result as far as I'm concerned.

I wasn't talking about Ne*Yo? For the record, yes it as well.

Despite over-use of generic, the new Pink track is nothing she hasn't done before.

lol. I think strip clubs bring out strange facial expressions in people.

Pink's song at least doesn't sound like most of what was in the charts last year, even if it's nothing special for her.

I definitely think Ne yo will overtake Pink in the end now because I remembered I live in the UK.

15. Let Me Love You (Until You Learn...) - Ne-Yo

61. I Cry - Flo Rida

67. Avalon (feat. Sierra Kusterbeck) - Professor Green

92. Teenage Icon - The Vaccines

118. Top of the World - Smiler

132. Mountain Sound - Of Monsters and Men

 You mentioned Pink's song being generic but didn't mention Ne-Yo. They're both generic in that case. :P

Anyways, I shall put a light spin on these tracks and say "if it ain't broke..." and that's exactly what both acts have done with their new singles. It's their trademark familiar sound so it doesn't alienate the loyal fanbase. I guess because I like Pink's singles more than I do Ne-Yo's (in general) will explain why I prefer 'Blow Me' over 'Let Me Love You'.

Yes, but there are loads of other tracks in the top 40 that are generic that I didn't mention. I hadn't realised there is a generic war going on between Pink and Ne*Yo.

I guess Ne*Yo generic is more my taste than Pink generic for the record :P

I still say there's nothing wrong with sticking to your own sound as long as it still sounds different to what's about at the moment. You know when you're hearing a Pink song and she doesn't jump on the latest trend bandwagon. I wish more of my favourite artists would take this approach.

Good point! I call Pink generic but ironically I am a huge Coldplay fan

I really hope this can go top 100 this week. The beat is awesome. But it'll probably have fallen loads on iTunes by the end of the week.

I like Coldplay too. I love it when an artist knows their strengths. Or at least has strengths.

P!nk is a f***ing legend. Her new single is generic, but she always releases a gimmicky track for her first release. 'Raise Your Glass', 'So What', 'Stupid Girls'. Where she is amazing is that her album will sound fantastic and subsequent singles will be something different. I can't wait for the album. even collaborations with Eminem, Lily Allen and the Fun. frontman aren't going to put me off :D

Ne-Yo has always been dreadful. Even Chris Brown makes better music.

...but even Coldplay have changed their sound throughout the years. It's like the band who recorded 'Paradise' are completely different to the band who recorded 'Yellow'.

I understand what T Boy is getting at. I'd say he's described my earlier point better than I did. With Pink, what you see is what you get and it's a formula that continues to work wonders. :D

I really like Stupid Girls actually (apart from the Fergie and 50 Cent digs :coffee:), and that's quite different-sounding for Pink imo.

The Pink song is nothing groundbreaking, but I still much much prefer it over 'Hall Of Fame' and 'Let Me Love You' so I'm fairly pleased! Would've prefered a second week for Little Mix but ah well.
I personally love Pinks new song. One of my favourite singles from her, it's not eurodance like everyone else seems to be doing, and it's not a ballad. It's a good summer song for me, it's upbeat and quirky.
