Good Afternoon to you all Buzzjackers- Join us from 4 to count down the 40 biggest hits in the UK of last week

[/ode to Bruno Brookes]

I remember listening to that 97 retro on my ninth birthday. Time flies!

Hello all.

Really hoping 'I Will Wait' is top 10 today

1997's top ten is so good.

GOT 'TIL IT'’S GONE- Janet Jackson Featuring Q-Tip

Was Joni Mitchell not credited on this?

Hello Buzzjackers :D

2011

1- LOCA PEOPLE- Sak Noel (75,161) It was amazing to see this get to #1, it was so close and I had a bad feeling that Maroon 5 had just overtaken Sak by the end of the week. It didn't deserve the terrible chart run that came afterwards :(

2- MOVES LIKE JAGGER- Maroon 5 Ft Christina Aguilera (73,056) This is an excellent song too!

3- IRIS- Goo Goo Dolls (64,992)

4- NO REGRETS- Dappy (53,840)

8- HEART SKIPS A BEAT- Olly Murs Ft Rizzle Kicks (34,200)*

9- ALL ABOUT TONIGHT- Pixie Lott (33,200)*

10- LIGHTERS- Bad Meets Evil Ft Bruno Mars (29,020)

2007

1- ABOUT YOU NOW- Sugababes (34,068)

3- AYO TECHNOLOGY- 50 Cent Ft Justin Timberlake (21,177)

4- BEAUTIFUL GIRLS- Sean Kingston (20,988)

5- LET ME THINK ABOUT IT- Ida Corr Vs Fedde Le Grand (20,039)

7- STRONGER- Kanye West (13,097)

8- 1973- James Blunt (12,537)

9- SHE'’S SO LOVELY- Scouting For Girls (12,140)

10- SHUT UP AND DRIVE- Rihanna (10,152)

2002

3- COMPLICATED- Avril Lavigne (54,000)

4- JUST LIKE A PILL- Pink (34,000)*

5- THE TIDE IS HIGH (GET THE FEELING)- Atomic Kitten (26,000)*

10- NESAJA- Scooter (13,000)*

1997

2- STAND BY ME- Oasis (137,000)

3- SUNCHYME- Dario G (94,000) Amazing piece of 90s dance. It won't be too long before it gets used by Flo Rida, Pitbull or Guetta lol

5- TUBTHUMPING- Chumbawamba (61,000)*

9- MEN IN BLACK- Will Smith (40,000)*

10- THE DRUGS DON'’T WORK- The Verve (38,000)*

2007 was the best year out of those. Those were the days when the Sugababes still knew how to make a pop anthem. I miss 50 Cent, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake's presence from the charts too. Ayo Technology was not their best song but they haven't scored any chart hits in 2012. :(

Anyway now that I've finished mourning their dead careers I will finish on a happy note. Today will go into the history books for a good reason, because PSY will be #1 tonight :cheer: Amazing song!

Loca People beating Moves Like Jagger is ridiculous even looking back. One year on and I can barely remember how Loca People goes and it did nothing for me at the time. Non no.1.

Joni Mitchell was credited on GTIG

Hi everyone :D

Guests - why not sign up and have a chat - it only takes a couple of minutes B)

Something that I've noticed for a while but never mentioned - now that the B) emoticon has been removed, can that be from the OP? :P

Not a very good set of retro charts overall - my favourite would probably be 2002, but 2007 provides the best #1.

Yay for Carly holding on!

3 entries, 4 entries

That must be DJ Fresh, Paloma Faith and Nicki Minaj with re-entries from The Fray, Jason Mraz, Muse, not sure about the fourth re-entry. Maybe he meant it the other way around because Taylor Swift has a good chance of T40 this week.

Pleasing to see Carly Rae stay in the top fourty for half a year now! STILL one of my favourite songs of the year - I hope she gets a few more hits from Kiss later this year/next year :D

Album Discussion Here

My favourite of the retros is 2007. I can't believe it's 5 years ago, it seems to recent that About You Now, Ayo Technology, Beautiful Girls, 1973, She's So Lovely, etc. were big. That said, I hardly ever heard Ayo Technology on the radio at the time, and on the few occasions I did hear it, most of the song was censored.

Hooray for Tulisa!!! :cheer:

Edited September 30, 201214 yr by Eric_Blob

Bit embarrassing for Tulisa there

Hello all.

Really hoping 'I Will Wait' is top 10 today

I have a terrible feeling the final few hours when it fell away on itunes has robbed it....sales are so close between 6-14 in the chart this week, overall sales could be below 3 million!
