Gallup? I doubt they had a website between 1983-1994 :D

Exactly. :)

BTW, am I the *only* person who didn't know the Chart Show doesn't start until 5 today?

Forget I said that - I didn't spot the chart show thread...

Eric the JLS example was in relation to their new single that Capital are backing big time at the mo.

I'm listening to the Big Top 40 (normally Radio1 but thought listen to Cap to see if they mention Leona's new single is out) and they havent  They normally list the main new single releases and they just havent bothered with trouble...

Yes, I know the song is getting a LOT of radio airplay on many stations. I meant their new single will be big, because it's getting lots of radio airplay.

JLS's previous 2 singles didn't do that well, so people thought their career was over, but the only reason they flopped was because nobody ever heard them. JLS will still be around for a few more years.

JLS aren't a good example of an act that Capital support endlessly, since they didn't playlist two of their singles recently. Try Rihanna or Lady Gaga.

I still think JLS are in rapid decline, and while this single will probably go top 3 it'll be another 5 weeker in the top 40 at the very most. Kind of like 'Take A Chance On Me'.
Yeah I really dont know why Capital have not supported Trouble & Leona  They just change their minds so quickly on who they support. They go so OTT on supporting some acts (at the moment Lawson, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and JLS for a few examples off top of my head).

Welcome to the world of being a fan of an artist who has to continue to be successful without the support of Capital (and radio1). Just be happy she has X Factor. Touring and live performances need to be her priority to maintain a solid fan base or she'll struggle once the show is over. She isn't the high profile star she was and the gp quickly forget if you let them.

Yeah, probably. It's very urban-sounding, so it won't spend long in the charts. But they're going nowhere if they can get this much support for every single from now on.

However, there's many, many artists I like that will never get Capital support in a million years. It doesn't make them bad though, and many of them are still very well-known, and they can continue making music for as long as they want.

01 (1.0000) Adele 'Skyfall'

02 (0.5285) Swedish House Mafia 'Don't You Worry Child'

03 (0.4375) PSY 'Gangnam Style'

Adele better watch out - the SHMafia are heading for the top. The figure above accounts for the two versions, though with the EP boost I'd imagine that'd put them at about 0.65-0.7 at least. I'm happy for either to grab the number-one, either way a #2 for Swedish House Mafia marks their highest peaking single (and last).

Eric i'm not saying they support JLS with all songs, I was literally using their new song as an example, so maybe I should of written the actual songs I was talking about not the artists.

Ofcourse Rihanna, Gaga and Katy Perry are the obvious examples of artists that seem to be supported by radio/tv with every song they release.

Yeah luckily Leona has always been known for being a great live performer, and thats one of her biggest selling points as an artist. That's why I'm glad she has two big promo slots this week where she can excel.

Trouble  #27

Oh dear. The main problem is it just isn't very good  -shrug-

I think it's a great song, just the main problem being not many people have heard it. Lots of "not very good" songs have been big hits just because they were absolutely everywhere for months.

Nonetheless, it's great to see Childish Gambino getting a top 40 hit, it's something I never thought would happen (who's infact a good example of what I was talking about earlier, an artist who'll never get Capital support and probably never get many chart hits, but is quite well-known and lots of people listen to his music, and will probably still be making music for years to come). One of his songs got supported by Radio 1 a few months ago, and managed to get top 100 on iTunes, which is very promising.

This!

Dont worry Eric Childish Gambino should have a top 10 hit by Sunday *fingers crossed*. I'm just so curious which version she'll sing tonight :o

two?

She's performing on Alan Carr Friday.

The acoustic version of "Trouble" seems to be doing well. It's currently #293. I think her X-factor performance will put her into the top 10, but I'm uncertain how high. She went to #2 with "Hurt" last year based on an X-factor performance, so hopefully the song will surprise us and do something similar.

Latest situation:

Adele still doing well, but Swedish House Mafia has shocked expectations by reaching No.2 with their final track.

Leona picking up slowly, but wisely as she has Alan Carr and X Factor.

I think anyone with a half-functioning brain on here expected that.

SHM is hardly a shock, everyone knew it'd get top 3 at least.

I LOVE Childish Gambino!! 'Fire Fly', 'Heartbeat' and 'Lights Turned On' are fantastic.

Does anyone know what song Taylor Swift recorded for X-Factor?
