Can't believe Heartbeat didn't chart for Childish Gambino - any chance of that being re-promoted on the back of this? Should have been top 20 at the very least.

#7 awesome! :D Hopefully it'll spend a few weeks in the top 40 before they go onto single #2.
You've put the video for 'Hurt' up!

Good dance tune from them, better than I originally though

Trouble technically is single #2 isn't it? I was just thinking it's weird thinking of 'Collide' as the first single of this era when it was a whole year ago.

Really like Childish Gambino's part on this. I often find rap features really pointless and irrelevant, but this isn't at all! Slightly reminds me of Eminem on Rihanna's Love the Way You Lie (Part II).

I was just thinking it's weird thinking of 'Collide' as the first single of this era when it was a whole year ago.

I thought the same with Labrinth and Let the Sun Shine and Earthquake. Wonder why they do that?

Trouble's OK, but she has nowhere near enough personality to pull it off, its a bit wasted on her really...

'Collide' isn't even on the album (bar an Afrojack remix on the deluxe version) so I'm counting 'Trouble' as the first single.

Trouble technically is single #2 isn't it? I was just thinking it's weird thinking of 'Collide' as the first single of this era when it was a whole year ago.

"Collide" isn't on the standard version of the album though and the afrojack remix is a bonus track on the deluxe lol. That's why I'm discounting it as the first single

Shame Trouble hasn't done better. Think it's a very fine single - but maybe doesn't quite have the impact she needed to get a huge hit. Also I thought Collide was a bit lame and maybe that killed the momentum for this release somewhat.
I thought the same with Labrinth and Let the Sun Shine and Earthquake. Wonder why they do that?

I think Leona's album first was scheduled for last year, but as Collide didn't exceed the expectations they pushed it back to this year.

The awkward moment when Leona's 'real' first single off the album charts lower than 'Collide'-the apparent 'flop' they want us to forget about.

Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

P!nk will return with her sixth studio album 'The Truth About Love' in September. Here she explains her thoughts behind her latest project:

"The Truth About Love is one of my favourite songs on the record, but I realized it also sums up my whole adventure in this lifetime. I used to be really motivated to do really dangerous and stupid things for love, and I was really fearful of love. When I was a little girl, 'love' meant fighting and bickering and losing your parents. But now love is also having a child and unconditional and beautiful and, with my husband, sexual. Musically, it's not a Sade record, where you know what you're going to get when you put it on. It's a P!nk record; you have no idea what you're going to get. I don't know what I'm doing when I go in to record an album, so I think that's the theme: questions and experiences and running from - and running to - love." - P!nk - HMV

Mercy Mercy

Aug 2012

Jeff Lynne’s timeless new album 'Long Wave' is a stirring, heartfelt and vivid tribute to some of the very songs that first taught this legendary singer-songwriter the awesome power of music in our lives.

The radiant songs revisited here helped turn on an electric light in young Jeff Lynne that continues to burn as brightly today as ever. Jeff Lynne somehow makes these pre-rock standards along with a few of his favorite gems from the Sixties—his own with these loving versions.

The result is an inspired love letter to music itself and an exquisite reflection of the way songs grace and change our lives. - HMV

Mr. Blue Sky

Aug 2012

Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra is a powerful new testament to Jeff Lynne's enduring artistry and his singular desire to get things right once and for all.

Here Lynne has artfully revisited and re-recorded the greatest hits of Electric Light Orchestra, and actually improved on some of the most classic and beloved recordings ever.

The result is, in effect, a kind of showdown between Jeff Lynne today and his extremely illustrious past, and thanks to improved technology and recording artistry, wouldn't you know Lynne somehow comes out on top again.

So too do all of us who get another fresh chance to hear these extraordinary songs sounding quite literally better than they ever have before. - HMV

All Over The World

It's quite amazing just how many great songs ELO have and "All Over The World" is a magnificent collection because of that. Jeff Lynne was the real driving force behind ELO and his genius should not be underestimated. His ability to write a catchy, memorable song is unsurpassed. From "Mr. Blue Sky" to "Evil Woman" to "Don't Bring Me Down" every song is great and those are just the first three songs. This collection also features "Sweet Talkin' Woman", “Livin' Thing" and so many more it's hard to believe they are all by the same band. There really isn't a bad track on here and every song is memorable. A truly brilliant greatest hits. - Ryan Evans, HMV Newport

I think Leona's album first was scheduled for last year, but as Collide didn't exceed the expectations they pushed it back to this year.

It was pushed back due to the material itself. Leona wanted more time and Fraser was drawn in to improve upon the material they already had. It was a good move, as the album is really strong.

It may not have reached number one, but at least Halycon won't (I hope) have a second week fall as big as Lights. Hope the album is successful in the US, after Lights the single sold 2 million there! :o
