Strange that Leona's day time performance looks to have done absolutely zilch for her sales, yet Rebecca's re-released album was propelled by hers.

That's because people don't like her single, it really is a lame duck song.

Ferguson is a debut artist with new fans but it's very likely that her Sophomore album will bomb if she doesn't bring something new to the table next time.

Weel, duh, overcourse we'll never know. What we do know is that she has a fantastic voice to still, be referred to continually as the best voice to come out of the show.

Bugg has it in the bag now. Fair play, just hope Leona's long term project for this album is, er, long term, none of her albums have yet made it past single #2. :(

Her debut album had five top 5 singles, including three #1s?

Essentially, she's not had a run of more than two singles without a new track that isn't on the existing album being released. She could have easily released "Take A Bow" or "Outta My Head" and done decently, but they gave up after the second 'proper' single and moved onto something new each time.

It's almost like they're trying to preserve some credibility and keep it so she has a top 20 streak going, but it has the opposite effect. She's seen as a joke because they have no faith in her releasing outside of the X Factor period.

Have Syco given up on this era for Leona already? :kink: She is performing 'Run' on the 'Stand Up To Cancer' show rather than her new single or even if that was not appropriate then at least a new song from the album which let's face it needs all the help it can het this week!

That song was more appropriate for the choir to perform with her. Plus, she's performing "Trouble" later.

No performance of 'Trouble' so Syco have decided to move on from that 1 week after release!

She performed it on This Morning earlier today. Plus, "Fingerprint" was much better suited to the event. :)

I wonder what position it will fall to next week though - there's a fair few possible contenders to the Top 10 next week: Dappy, Dionne Warwick (a possibility as she's performing on Strictly this week and whilst the album is a greatest hits, it has non-singles on there), Lady Antebellum (perhaps a little early for a Christmas album?), Lawson, Taylor Swift (probably number one), and Tony Bennett (based on how well his previous duets album did, although that was boosted by the singles with Gaga and Winehouse). I can see Mumford & Sons and Jake Bugg staying ahead of Leona.

I'm thinking she'll fall out of the Top 5, maybe #6-8.

Next week is the week last year when Michael Buble and Justin Bieber's xmas albums got released - where'd they enter? It was also the week Coldplay released their new album!!

 Just heard Cheryl's epic fail on SUFC jeez that woman hasnt got a note in her head #tonedeaf dont expect a rise for CMN.
But he's hardly known by the masses is he? His campaign was handled SO well though - Buzz singles, key live shows etc, - They have been building the album for months rather than Syco who wheeled Leona out on XF expecting an instant #1 from it

EXACTLY!!

Symbolises the complete opposite to sycho about the way to release a new album - they are just typical capitalists trying to make as much money as possible and once the artist loses sales they dump them after sucking them dry - Susan Boyle being the best example - new album every november when sales are gauranteed then as sales get lower each year thats it - they dont nurture their acts or care about the product!

Leona needs syco to stay relevant & somewhat successful even though i can see her becoming a radio 2 artist in the future. I cant see leona take a risk like Alexandra because she owes her massive debut success to simon & syco label so she'll stay with them.

Alex on the other hand could have commercial success again without syco because she seems more ambitious & hungry to keep fighting her way back to the top. And im rooting for her Us launch to go as planned & silence the haters & doubters.

Alexandras voices suits the more rhythmic pop music which radio stations like capital lap up whereas Leona is in between that and a singer song writer if you know what i mean?

Michael Buble: #3

Justin Bieber: #13

Although there was a week between them. I guess Lady Antebellum could quite easily get Top 10, especially with the recent exposure of Need You Know this summer.

But what we can never know, is if she would have made it *without* the XF?

In the same sense we'd never know if an artist who wasnt on X Factor would make it though on X Factor either...it's just a different way of getting noticed, I dont know why people believe its easier, in a way it could be more difficult with the added pressure and the 'x factor label' comes with a lot of critcism and people are always waiting for you to fail, more so then artists who make it in other ways.

I think people shouldnt be snobby about it and judge the artist as an artist not discriminate them due to the route they chose to get to where they are.#

I've come to the conclusion Leona will be #2, still good, but disapointed it didnt get the #1.

Also Jake Bugg's poster of his new album is everywhere in the tube stations around London, I havent seen one of Leona's. I havent seen the TV advert that they made for Glashhear once. Jake Bugg has that initial hype for his debut, loads of other artists are tweeting about him. He has the #1 in the bag now.

12 pages  thanks guys for keeping the thread going this week, it usually ends up between 4 to 6 pages for the week.

Tune in at 3pm tomorrow onwards for the Sunday Chart Show thread.

She performed it on This Morning earlier today. Plus, "Fingerprint" was much better suited to the event. :)

It might have been better suited but it's had zero impact on album sales and it clearly didn't connect with viewers judging by it's iTunes performance - Leona needs sales at the moment and should be pushing her latest release rather than an album track from an underperforming album.

Well considering it was performed at 11:30pm, I'm not too surprised. But you also have no idea if it has affected her album sales or not. Some people might be going out today to get her album after seeing her perform yesterday instead of buying the single. :)

I guess so but as is usual I would have expected to see a spike in sales on iTunes - The album has dropped to it's lowest point and the album track is struggling to go Top 700

Michael Buble: #3

Justin Bieber: #13

Yeah then both albums plummeted for a few weeks until mid november and sales soared for them helped by healthy tv exposure in december and Bieber had the Mistletoe single too. I would say Lady Antebellum isnt as big a name so will maybe go top 20, plummet and then recover well in december depending on exposure over here. Here's how sucessfull i think xmas albums will be this year -

1) Rod Stewart - A very merry christmas (released 12/11) (top 5)

2) M.Buble (top 5)

3) John Travolta and Olivia Newton John (released 5/11) (top 20)

4) Lady Antebellum (top 20 initially, top 40 in december)
