October 17, 201213 yr She'll have zero interest outside of X-Factor season and a single released outside of that period would struggle to go top 40 so they should probably milk it for all they can. Thats my fear with Leona that she will have to rely on XF to get a hit - I mean without that performance this year there was literally zero interest in her 'comeback' from radio, media and TV and without it i think the single would have struggled. The other worrying thing is Leona is performing to her core market on XF the ones that crowned her a winner and she is not getting a Top 5 single off the back of that. I am a Leona fan i just wonder whats next for her post the XF season and wonder if there is enough interest to sustain further singles from the album.
October 17, 201213 yr Really happy for "Sweet nothing", it is a good tune. Really pleased for Rebecca Ferguson, this album/era has been a SUCCESS for her, not Adele style, but still, pretty healthy. I'm glad cause she deserves it and I'm happy we probably get a second album. Happy for Bat For Lashes, although I'm yet to get into the new single...
October 17, 201213 yr So I had to go and do some research on Jake Bugg and...OK he's not as sleep inducing as Ed Sheeran. But he is still, man with guitar and he makes regressive music. I can't help but think that you're trying to link the two statements at the ending.
October 17, 201213 yr I can't help but think that you're trying to link the two statements at the ending. I am linking them, its very difficult for a singer standing at a mike with a guitar to come out with anything progressive.
October 17, 201213 yr I am linking them, its very difficult for a singer standing at a mike with a guitar to come out with anything progressive. Bob Dylan says Hi.
October 17, 201213 yr #2 for Leona wouldn't be a big deal if we didn't know Syco. They will not be happy with this and I'm quite sure they are gonna start hesitating about everything now.
October 17, 201213 yr #2 for Leona wouldn't be a big deal if we didn't know Syco. They will not be happy with this and I'm quite sure they are gonna start hesitating about everything now. That's probably the main problem - Simon see's Leona as one of his biggest most bankable stars, If she pulls in at #2 with 30k of sales they will then either knee jerk and push her back on the XF or let the campaign limp on and write this era off.
October 17, 201213 yr Its being used in the 'TalkTalk' advert and returned to the charts last week for the first time since 1974 at #49 It re-entered at #49 three weeks ago, then dropped out of the top 100 and last week re-entered again at #52.
October 17, 201213 yr It re-entered at #49 three weeks ago, then dropped out of the top 100 and last week re-entered again at #52. My bad - Had a quick look on chartstats and took the #49 entry as the recent weeks chart.
October 17, 201213 yr My bad - Had a quick look on chartstats and took the #49 entry as the recent weeks chart. Easy mistake to make :P They just haven't added last week's chart yet for some reason.
October 17, 201213 yr I've got to say that "Sweet Nothing" continues to do absolutely sweet FA for me. And it's not because it is going to be number 1 and I'm some annoying hipster-y "can't like that because it's popular" type person, because I LIKED "I'm Not Alone" and that was a number 1 for Calvin, and I love most-if-not-all of Ms Florence Welsh's output. Anyway, quite literally WOOP in a chart geek-stylee for Natasha Khan debuting at No.4. Should be a Top 5 debut just about I think/hope. :D Edited October 17, 201213 yr by Doctor Blind
October 18, 201213 yr Until a few weeks ago, I didn't think Leona's third album would even get released. This sums up the whole situation pretty well.
October 18, 201213 yr Has holding back an album ever had positive results? I can't think of an instance where it has
October 18, 201213 yr Mumford & Sons's are coming off of the back of a huge era. While Muse & The Killers have subtaintially larger fanbases (well loyal fanbases) than Leona. I don't think it's fair to compare her with them, due to the fact they are completely different. But, saying this, I was expecting Leona to do at least 50k at the minimum. I think the biggest problem is the lead single, yet again. But, this time round they seem to be on top of that, as the video for the next single is being shot next week. I think this era will go well for Leona, but there's going to be a few bumpy rides along the way. It may be a poor example but the central point is correct!! Ive said it before about Leona - amazing voice not a pop star unfort! Edited October 18, 201213 yr by steve201
October 18, 201213 yr I mean, they held back Leona's album, and by the sound of it, the album they had last year was a lot better.
October 18, 201213 yr Gap down to 3.3k. It's going to be very close I think. Hopefully tomorrow's midweek report will have Leona close the gap even further :)
October 18, 201213 yr Hopefully Jack can stay at the top - will be good to see him debut at the top as opposed to Leona 'Wheel me out at every XF series' Lewis
October 18, 201213 yr What's your source on the gap getting closed to 3.3k? Maybe Leona performing on Stand Up To Cancer might help her reduce the gap even more, but if Leona has a chance the gap will need to be around 2k tomorrow! She should have booked in more promotion this week though. I wouldn't worry about the album if she manages to get a hit from Single 2 and another xFactor performance. Glassheart should hopefully still pass 300,000. Cheryl Cole arguably done much worse! I doubt she will even pass 200,000!
