October 17, 201213 yr I would love if Jake Bugg caused a hilarious mass upset here, but i can't see it happening. Leona will probably hold up better throughout the week. #2/3 would still be a highly impressive result for him though ...not really when seems like most people are actually backing Jake Bugg on here. October 17, 201213 yr Still quite close. Leona still has a shot, with her TV promotion starting today (BBC Breakfast) and more on Friday. Although I would be happy with #2, as long as it has strong sales (40k+). :)
October 17, 201213 yr Ed Sheeran, Pixie Lott, Chase & Status, Example have all tweeted about Jake Bugg's album. He has so much backing at the moment.
October 17, 201213 yr Not a bad fall at the moment for Leona Lewis’ Trouble, although it’s pretty likely that it will drop after this week. Would be great if Pet Shop Boys could hold on to a Top 40 placing - #29 seems to be a too high position to fall out of the Top 40. Also good to see Everything Everything in the Top 40, so they should be at least Top 50 for Sunday. Jake Bugg extending his lead so it seems he is pretty certain for number one – Mumford and Sons seem more of a threat than Leona. Rebecca Ferguson re-entering in the Top 10! :D Ed Sheeran will probably get there too.
October 17, 201213 yr Trouble #12, dropped 5 places, knew it wouldnt be anywhere near the fall of Hurt like some were suggesting  Hope it can stay at #12. The solo version off Glassheart is doing really well, may even pass the Childish Gambino version in the upcoming weeks.
October 17, 201213 yr Would be good to see some sales info or at least a gap for Calvin/SHM, Calvin won't be that far ahead (although comfortably enough ahead to have official #1 in the bag most likely :D) so whether or not he can do 100k again depend on how much SHM slide really. Hope he has topped the opening of WBCB. I did think it was strange 'State Of Grace' was #20, 'I Knew You Were Trouble.' makes lots more sense :P IIRC 'I Knew Your Were Trouble.' was top 40 at this stage last week though? So based on that 'State Of Grace' shouldn't do as well, although it will easily be top 30 again. So she will have more than doubled her top 30 hit count in just 9 weeks :drama: Woo at the climb for Disclosure, should be top 20 by Sunday and maybe challenging for top 10 next week? Currently #13 on iTunes :D Heard 'Single Tear' for the first time on the chart update and it is rather good so will be good to see that outpeaking 'Higher Love'. Completely forgot about Pet Shop Boys' release but not surprised it's top 30 today, it'll obviously drop out of the top 40 by the end of the week although it has a very good chance of beating the #86 peak of 'Winner' which is a good showing for them. Decent song as well. Absolutely thrilled to see Everything Everything in the top 40 today, they'll probably also drop out but they could also manage to hold on like 'Skirts' did ('Cough Cough' is still slowly working its way up iTunes). Jake stretching his lead, so pretty much guaranteed #1 unless Mumford & Sons put in a late surge really. Great week for British folk with Jake Bugg at #1, Mumford & Sons still top 3 and Bellowhead looking like going top 20 :D Expected Rebecca to be top 5 with her re-release but I suppose it could climb there over the week? Ed going back up to #11 isn't too bad considering how low profile this re-release is (not even a new single to support it). '21' only down 1 today and it always climbs a few places over the week so hopefully should make another climb this week woo.
October 17, 201213 yr She may have missed out on #1 last week, but at least Ellie doesn't look like plummeting as badly as she did last time... :)
October 17, 201213 yr ...not really when seems like most people are actually backing Jake Bugg on here. Difference being that if Jake Bugg doesn't get no.1, not many will be that bothered. Whereas if Leona doesn't make it we'll get excuse after excuse from her fans saying that she 'doesn't have enough airplay' or something. If sales are to be believed, things are looking shocking for Leona.

Hope he has topped the opening of WBCB. I think Calvin Harris' debut sales for the singles from 18 Months have ascended each time, so it would be great if Sweet Nothing continued that pattern. Expected Rebecca to be top 5 with her re-release but I suppose it could climb there over the week? It was #10 on Tuesday and #7 today, so I wouldn't rule it out at all, especially if sales aren't going to be to great this week (although nowhere near as bad as those in the summer).
October 17, 201213 yr Really pleased that Lawson have held onto the #4 slot - Was expecting them to be at 5 or 6 today - And Jake Bugg pulling away from Leona her album signing did little to help her then and everyone us saying she's selling more CDs than Jake but clearly he is selling more than enough MP3s to make up the difference and still leading the way on iTunes

Not quite: 66,920 'Bounce' 87,845 'Feel So Close' 77,252 'Let's Go' 102,320 'We'll Be Coming Back' A bit of a general upwards trend though.

Difference being is if Leona doesnt get to #1 we'll get comment after comment saying 'Leona is over' 'omg flop omg' even though she came in at #2 which is still good to be fair. I think Glassheart will do well over the next few months anyway so its not a disaster situation that some may make out it is.

If she only sells about 25k this week it will be a bit of a disaster though. People have been calling Cheryl a flop all year for getting much better first week sales. People still call Matt Cardle's album a flop even though in did almost thrice that first week at about the same time of year. I won't say that she's over, but she should be doing much better.

No 2 isn't the end of the world but it's about the sales that she ought to be worried. Muse, Mumford & Sons and the Killers have all opened in recent weeks with 100k sales after poorer charting "singles" than Leona has had so it is possible in the currrent climate to sell that many. Of she opens with 30-40k then it's going to be hard to paint that as anything less than a major comedown. Certainly if the slbum ends the year on anything less than 300k then "flop" would prbably be appropriate given who she is.
October 17, 201213 yr OMG could Pet Shop Boys be in top 75? That'd be brilliant. (No way they'll stay in top 40)

While Muse & The Killers have subtaintially larger fanbases (well loyal fanbases) than Leona. I don't think it's fair to compare her with them, due to the fact they are completely different. But, saying this, I was expecting Leona to do at least 50k at the minimum. I think the biggest problem is the lead single, yet again. But, this time round they seem to be on top of that, as the video for the next single is being shot next week. I think this era will go well for Leona, but there's going to be a few bumpy rides along the way.

She has only two hits pretty much elsewhere in the world (Bleeding Love, Better in Time). She's not exceptional by any means. She was globally huge for a while but only because of the fantastic song she got from Ryan Tedder. If the rest of the world don't think she's special, why should UK treat her like a national treasure?
October 17, 201213 yr Ouch at Adele, down to no.6 already and likely to fall further. I'm very surprised at just how quickly this has tailed off. I can't see any chance of no.1 now, even with the inevitable boost it will get when the film is released. It would have to be a Massive* boost, coupled with a *very* quiet release week for that to happen.
