didn't want to sleep because i didn't want to forget and then wake up and remember, and i didn't want the gut-punch of remembering. but i woke up with it fresh in my mind. i guess this is the way it is now. i'll have to eventually accept what happened but i'll never and should not ever accept the consequences. but until then i honestly don't know what the f*** to do with myself. i keep spontaneously crying. during my worst suicidal moments, it always had to do with the sense that the future was so bleak that i had no future left. this feels like that but amplified tenfold.

sorry for being dramatic. i just feel so f***ed up and i don't know when i'm gonna feel okay again, if ever.

I'm really stressed out and still kinda numb.

But the answer isn't to give up, even if there isn't much resistance at this point anywhere to these right wing ideologies. But giving up now means we have to wait even longer to right things!

Republican Party being over my ass - it now has the NE Rust Belts!!

I am listening to Katie Melua's Cried For You and Fergie's London Bridge with my changes in mood between defiance and heartbreak regarding this result.

and by 'rewards them' i mean like more vote points / less vote points. it may put older voters off voting but good lol

Any system that gives more power to younger voters over older is classed as ageism, which is also a form of discrimination.

Surely the answer is to engage the younger voters in politics - had Cameron done this by allowing 16 and 17 year-olds the vote the referendum may well have had a different outcome.
Aside from being devastated for America, its female, LGBT and PoC citizens, and the world as a whole, I'm just so, so sad for Hillary.

I felt very disappointed with Brexit but that completely pales in comparison to this. I couldn't hold food down all morning, the sickly feeling in my stomach was too much. I drove to work in a daze, bemused, trying to make sense of HOW exactly so many people feel they have nothing left but to vote against a candidate who was still likely to be reliable and keep the US economy steady.

This article however does go some way is making sense of this f***ery, it's made me feel a tad better about the whole shitstorm.

So I don't claim to know much about American politics, but I was assured there was no way Trump would win, and certainly not by the margin that happened with the key states. So what happened? These polling companies are paid millions, yet they got it so wrong. I can only assume they were over-sampling Democrat voters as the polls were so wrong.

I hate to gloat, but I did think Trump was going to win the election - not that I am happy about it. But I would not have been too impressed with Hilary either, save for her being a much safer pair of hands and much more experienced and suited to the role.

Looking at this, and Brexit, it's clear there needs to be shake-up in politics. Both Nigel Farage and Donald Trump spoke to the people. They both made countless f***ups, fales promises, yet people continued to believe them. The Remain and Camp Clinton made sane and logical arguments, but never really touched the people like the Brexit & Trump. What's clear is there is a lot of hurt and anguish from people who don't like globalisation and are willing to take any sort of chance. It sucks as a young person because the long term effects will be felt by my generation the most.

I'm sad that climate change is going to take a huge beating, and also that we seem to be reverting away from globalisation and more to isolationism. In this respect we're turning the clock back 70 years and it sucks. The world needs to work closer together and not further apart.

These polls are usually accurate however they sometimes struggle to accurately capture the more conservative/right wing votes as some people feel ashamed to admit. A left wing vote is more idealistic and thus carries less stigma. It's unfortunate that the pool of "shy republican votes" was large enough to go under the poll radar and slyly find its way through to the ballot paper this creating a shock result. Very similar to Brexit.

This wasn't just a few shy voters though - it was a lot!! I do agree that it's a likely explanation however. Also, I think a lot of people just did not turn up to vote, especially Democrat supporters. That said, I don't think Bernie would have beaten Trump either.

Don't they? 1963 is all I need say.

Conspiracy theory. No proof. Anyone can make up a theory about anything.

they really do need to get sorted a way of voting which categorises different age groups and rewards them for how they'll suffer / gain from the outcome. i hate the thought of 70+ stuck in their way straight white males having the same vote as a kid who will soon have to deal with the ramifications of a trump presidency when he'll be immune to a lot of what is and isn't passed soon anyway. it's totally not fair and makes me so uncomfortable to see that map in particilar

Main problem being 70 year olds of every generation tend to act the same way and ditto through earlier parts of life. people have very short memories and they forget what they felt like when they were young. I see it all the time. i have diaries of what i thought and a good memory so i have no illusions about things being better in the past.

Hoping young people start working and planning ahead now to reverse brexit and all the various policies about to turn up in both the usa and uk. it will take 20 years or more to achieve... :(

Please be aware that if you continue in that vein, I WILL raise your warning level. It's one thing being pleased he won, quite another derive to joy or happiness from the anguish of others, be gracious in victory.
This is just wonderful. Maybe too wonderful.

Please.

I also cried I am not ashamed to say and I am not American.

I ferl awful for the non racist voters and utterly heartbroken for HRC.

This is just wonderful. Maybe too wonderful.

Maybe it will be wonderful to you if/when ISIS come to strike America and Trump doesn't do anything about it.

One of the huge problems opinion polling faces at the moment is non-response rates. The kind of white working class voter whose vote for Trump was their first in years/ever has a tendency to just tell a caller from an opinion polling company to fuck off.

This is just wonderful. Maybe too wonderful.

In fairness to PeaceMob, I don't see much difference in this being posted compared with the reels of white people crying I was limbering up to post if Trump lost.

You're still a cock though.

These are young people's lives ruined, not to mention minorities. Hillary was far more inclusive and not a threat to any alt right turd.
