Assuming it hasn't clipped into the top 10 today, heading for a 4th straight week outside the top 10 officially despite being top 10 on iTunes pretty much all week? :(

I think it's just a version of the song with Dougie singing the vocals, well it sounds like that from the iTunes clip. :lol:

Yeah Dougie is doing all the singing (including the talking bit in the middle) it's different from the normal single though and has a 'Dougie' verse aswell.

 

There's also Live Ukulele Version knocking around somewhere too.

 

 

 

I don't think most radio stations, especially Capital, are going to play anything Leona releases ever again, no matter how radio-ready it is. But if she gets on the radio again she'll get another big hit for sure.

Miss the top 40? It's going to land nowhere near the top 100.

 

'Lovebird' is such a mindless single choice, but I honestly think her record label knew this and are using it as an excuse to get rid of her.

 

If I were Leona, I would have been fighting so hard against this, but I guess that's what you get when you have no say in what you do.

Why mention that Echo sold poorly compared to Spirit if you're not going to even acknowledge the reason why it sold poorly? As much as I love 'Happy', it wasn't radio friendly at all (especially in the year of electro-pop). Sure, in comparison to her previous album, looking at figures alone, it's very underwhelming. But if you take the time to discover the faults in the marketing and campaigning of the record, you'll realise that it was also quite impressive.

 

I agree about the weak single affecting sales but I disagree that the sales were still impressive. IMO she had alot of people who bought Echo just because they liked Spirit which millions own. Now obviously people weren't so keen on Echo if we look at her recent sales. So it IS about the quality of the songs, but the album tracks as well as the singles.

Echo as an album was SO much better than Spirit it's unreal. The real big mistake they made was releasing a random album track as the second single when she had 'Outta My Head', which was one of the best pop songs of modern times. Given that blunder, I'm amazed the album did 600k-700k in total.

Leona needs massive collab. She needs a Calvin Harris ft or Guetta ft. Radio need to get back on supporting her. Glassheart may do the trick, such a great tune. Why would the label ever think LOVEBIRD was going to be played on radio???? At least the video is beautiful, as always for Leona I guess.

Looking at the (amazing) Carolynne Poole's twitter, she seems to confirm that Rihanna and Emeli are singing 'Stay' and 'Clown' tonight:

 

Just sat at the side of the stage, listening to Emili Sande sing my audition song in her sound check. She's amazing!

I assume Rihanna's must be 'Stay' as it is her new song and it fits Carolynne's description! :cheer:

It's actually quite limp compared to 'Glassheart' and certainly NOT one of the best pop songs of modern times. :huh:

She doesn't need a collab, she just needs to release the right songs. "Glassheart" should have been the lead single followed by "Come Alive" imo. If "Glassheart" is released as the 3rd single, she should go on a big radio tour. Radio is the thing that is holding her back unfortunately. :(
