It's determined by the price the dealer pays, not the sale price. An album sold for a penny would count towards the chart as long as the dealer paid a high enough price.
January 4, 201313 yr I am surprised Right place right time by Olly Murs is still number 10, i expected it to show recovery signs in today's update. That said i doubt Olly is worrying as the album as it stands will have been deemed a success when in reality we know it has loads of sales to come yet. Great to see the Killers back in the top 40 but i would suspect its only by the skin of its teeth, it would be nice if it could stay top 40 plus the album is getting quiet near to platinum sales now.
January 4, 201313 yr Calvin Harris still currently #1! :cheer: I presume the 700 copies gap has increased since Wednesday, so hopefully Calvin should return to number one on Sunday. How Ed Sheeran however can be as high as #3 is beyond me. Would be nice to see fun. climb into the Top 10, although I don’t think Olly at #10 can fall any further.

However as I recall two sales were the equivalent to one sale of a normal price album certainly for certification purposes

January 4, 201313 yr It could be really close in the single chart this week for #1. Although I don't think it's too big a deal, since will.i.am will surely get #1 next week. I honestly was not expecting the song to do this well, I was expecting success more like T.H.E., with 2-3 weeks in the top 10 and about 200,000 sales, but this has done so much better than that.

January 4, 201313 yr Just realised TJC are down to #23 on Tuesday's update - Physicals must still be strong for them but its surely their last week in the Top 40, This is looking like having a 4/5 week chart run in the Top 75!

January 5, 201313 yr James could do but he still has a lot to sell, he is in with a chance though as he is still number 1 and selling decently so i think at the least he will come very near to beating alexandra. Great to see battle born by the killers back in the top 40, may its rise continue.

January 5, 201313 yr So it looks like he will easily surpass her sales - And to think a few weeks ago we were all predicting 300k total sales for the XF winner this year :lol: Alex was just off a million after 3weeks but her 3rd week was already down to 100k ish so she was trailing off faster than James who should be on a similar figure after 4 weeks but may sell better in the long run based on early indications. Should have it by end of year latest i`d wager (probably much b4)
