Promotional slots from successful artists are needed though to boost viewing figures. There is a higher chance of the average TV viewer wanting to tune in to see Emeli Sande than Django Django.

Just because a TV show would rather have Emeli doesn't mean the label has to let them have her. It's not hard to say "No sorry but here's Ellie Goulding instead". I mean sure, the Graham Norton show isn't going to be taking someone like Django Django any time soon, but there is a really rather large amount of middle ground between that and Emeli Sandé.

The video is starting to get constant airplay on the music channels.

Great too see Anne Hathaway's version of "I Dreamed A Dream" at #33. My favourite ever rendition.
It's a shame this probably wont stay top 40 for next week :( I do hope it can at least go top 75 though!

Completely agree! I might just be bitter about Figure 8 not properly taking off, but Ellie needs to be getting some big promo slots (or even small ones), so it's just tiresome seeing the same few artists everywhere :drama:

Top 75 would still be a good achievement though. :)

Coincidentally, it was a year ago today that Emeli Sande pre-recorded her performance on her last appearance on Graham Norton (the Madonna special).

Everyone keeps banging on about Emeli get too much exposure but fair play to her tbh - She might end up the next Duffy, Dido etc and never get a 1 million+ selling album and a string of hit singles again so why not take everything thats offered while the goings good?

And im literally :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: that Andy Burrows has made an apperance in the chart - His album is immense so its great to see one of his singles finally get some love!

 148 - Andy Burrows - Hometown

This is a pre-order :kink: Out on Sunday, would be nice to see it do slightly well (haven't got any big expectations for it)

Was going to say, I pre-ordered it the other day and noted 13/1 as its release date. Such a fantastic way to kick off 2013 in terms of new music (I'm talking about Peace's "Wraith" for those not following). Hoping it can at least crack the T200 so the band get their first chart placement, the R1 support is certainly there.

Only because they've never heard of Django Django. You have to discover a band somewhere.

Another release i'm hoping the best for is The Neighbourhood's "Let It Go". But it's R1 support is pretty minimal, so it's likely to do virtually nothing :( And of course, would be great if Biffy Clyro could get in the Top 40

^ Any reason for this climbing? I can see it being a hit if it starts picking up airplay soon

I'm not saying that it would be a bad idea, but the record companies probably don't have the same amount of foresight as we do. So, the record company will accept a request for any artist to come on the show because they think that it could maximise their record sales. It's a bit of a Catch 22 situation really.

I do agree with you though, one notable example was when Plan B filled in for Cheryl Cole on The Jonathan Ross Show because she had broken up with Ashley Cole.

I Dreamed a Dream at #25 I hope it goes Top 20 officially! :D
