January 6, 201313 yr Unfortunately they just never seemed to play the video on TV, can't remember seeing it once, yet seeing Shake It Out loads (probably due to the hold 'racism' complaints about the video). I am even more upset Never Let Me Go didn't even get into the top 75, one of my favourite Florence tunes and it completely bombs here. At least it did brilliantly in Australia so it got some recognition. I always find Florence seems to have completely erratic chart runs. I remember 'Cosmic Love' was HUGE in Ireland (I think it was used on an advert or something) and 'Rabbit Heart' flopped there. Then 'Drumming Song' flopped here and 'You've Got The Love' was HUGE, it was going well on iTunes even before it got much promotion. It just seems that there is no guessing where their next single will peak. The most surprising one for me is Spectrum getting three weeks at #1. I know the remix did almost all the selling but I'd still have never expected it to do that well. Edited January 6, 201313 yr by cookie_monster
January 6, 201313 yr In the 80s where they belong ^_^ I do love their 80s stuff + Go West from the 90s, but there is no place for them in 2012 - that "Winner" song is terrible and I haven't heard their new single but I imagine it's not what I'd like. IT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU'D LIKE A classic PSB single from head to toe.
January 6, 201313 yr Just realised what's been bugging me about this Taylor Swift song. It's the 'warping' effect on the guitar throughout the track that really annoys me. GUITARS SHOULD NEVER, EVER BE WARPED.

January 6, 201313 yr Capital FM and Radio 1. For example, Twilight by Cover Drive got to #1 almost solely off Capital support. And likewize, Radio 1 was the only station playing the Calvin Harris remix of Spectrum before it got to #1. So both stations have a lot of power. Interesting, so only two major radio stations? wow :o
January 6, 201313 yr Looks like Haim and Jake Bugg missed out, I be gutted if they both end up at Nos 41 and #42.
January 6, 201313 yr Interesting, so only two major radio stations? wow :o Radio 2 is also a strong influence, but mostly on the album chart.
January 6, 201313 yr Looks like Haim and Jake Bugg missed out, I be gutted if they both end up at Nos 41 and #42. Today's chart is sooooo old. Bom Bom, Taylor Swift, Wiley, etc. I wish Haim & Jake Bugg were top 40.
January 6, 201313 yr Interesting, so only two major radio stations? wow :o BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 are more major than Capital and BBC Radio 1, but they have little to no influence on the chart.
January 6, 201313 yr A radio station making a music video and premiering it on the station? Perhaps I'm just a Luddite, but isn't the point of radio that it's entirely...aural?

January 6, 201313 yr Radio 2 is also a strong influence, but mostly on the album chart. I wonder what influence on the chart Heart FM has, they tend to play singles loads when or after they've become hits which then hang around forever. But do they play them because they hang around forever or do they hang around forever because Heart excessively play them?
January 6, 201313 yr Sorry if I'm late to the discussion, but the reason why Radio 1 have changed the format of the chart show is because they want to have a realistic chance of competing with the Big Top 40, which is far more representative of what the people want to hear and is the biggest chart show in the country if I'm correct. It makes no sense to not have a thread on the biggest chart in the country every Sunday and we can't really call this forum a UK Chart Forum if we don't have a thread on the biggest chart in the country. Yes, I know that it's not the Official Chart, but it's still a chart in the UK. Off-topic but I felt that it needed to be said. I would be happy to make a thread on the Big Top 40 every Sunday if this would be OK with the moderators. And I love Niggas In Paris. :kink:
