I hope so (although I'm not expecting anything from any of them to trouble the top 100).

When was the last time that a comedy song was number 1 on iTunes?

I wouldn't call Thrift Shop a 'comedy' song. But 'Bom Bom' and 'Gangnam Style' both have crazy lyrics and could be seen as a novelty hit, if that's what you're talking about. 'Loca People' and 'We No Speak Americano' from recent years too, even if the former wasn't an iTunes #1 it did get there officially.

I love how most non-English spoken tracks are seen as "novelty songs". Really? I wouldn't call 'Loca People' "novelty", anyway. (nor 'We No Speak Americano', but I can see why some people may find it a "novelty" track).

'Loca People' is definitely novelty. Let's face it, almost everyone who bought it did so because it says 'what the fuck' in the chorus.

On an unrelated note, how many #1 singles released on independent labels have there been? I know 'Someone Like You' was technically released on an independent label but don't immediately know any others. ('Thrift Shop' was released through Macklemore's own label, Macklemore).

I'm sure Dizzee Rascal released 'Dance Wiv Me' back in 2008 on his own independent lable. Is it Dirtee Stank or something like that?

Keep in mind this is One Direction - the group with a truckload of fangirls who fancy them and will buy anything they release :(

You're right - all 4 of Dizzee's #1s (excl. 'Shout') were released on Dirtee Stank. Forgot about that!

Any updates following the big reunion

Five 'Keep On Moving #76 (59p)

The Honeyz 'Finally Found' #237

Five 'If Ya Gettin Down' #269

Liberty X 'Thinking It Over' #281

Nothing else Top 300.

Arctic Monkeys' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' and 'When The Sun Goes Down' were both (EXCELLENT and) released on Domino - which I believe, like Adele's XL, is an independent label.

Doesn't XL still count as an independent label?
Yes Honeyz! Hopefully on the week that they're more prominently featured Finally Found will climb a bit higher, forgotten classic!

'The Big Reunion' is a show on ITV2 and it documents 6 former groups pop careers, highlighting the highs and lows of being a popstar in a band. 5ive and LibertyX were on the show today. Next week it's 911 and Atomic Kitten, leaving The Honeyz & B*Witched for the week after. They're all reuniting for a special "Reunion Concert" at the end of February.

Surprised The Honeyz have entered though! :o (And higher than 5ive and LibertyX's tracks - despite it being their episode tonight) :s

Rihanna's 'Stay' video is supposedly in less than 2 days!

EDIT: Omrimayo, I'd recommend ITVplayer-ing the show tbh. It was very interesting.

I'll watch! I just read all the shit that J Brown said about the band and try to shut down their site and all... he is insane or something :P

I'm listening on Spotify to their songs... I'm in love!!!!!! such a PERFECT TIMING in my life.

PS -

"Closer to me" makes me cry :( the J Brown part! he was the best in the band anyway...

Five have loads of songs in the top 1500, same with Honeyz (barely even featured, I'm sure loads of people will rediscover them from this show having completely forgotten that they existed), 911 and Atomic Kitten have one each, B*Witched and Liberty X both have three each!
