April 3, 201313 yr Urgh, no Swiss Lips yet. HOPEFULLY next week then Chris Malinchak and Vampire Weekend are great additions, but I don't think much of the rest.
April 3, 201313 yr Pleased to see they're still supporting Misha B! Really love that song, hopefully she can manage to not flop horrendously.
April 3, 201313 yr Surprised they've got rid of Kodaline already! And The 1975. And Bastille still on for an impressive 11th week :o Amelia now officially snubbed, as is Pitbull/Christina.
April 3, 201313 yr Tom Odell out already wow.. YES to Palma Violets being added  boooo at The 1975 being taken off, although they have a new song premiering tonight so that should be added in the next few weeks
April 3, 201313 yr None of the new releases interest me this week. 30 Seconds to mars is ok, but not as good as older stuff. Yay for Calvun & Matt Zo going A list this week :) Not too sure if it's possible, but are we able to have a retro this week as we haven't had one for ages. Thanks :)
April 3, 201313 yr Glad there supporting Misha B I love Here's to Everything  Edited April 3, 201313 yr by troylovesmusic
April 3, 201313 yr Disappointing update this week. :( I had hoped they might have supported Bo Bruce's new single, I think that track's last chance is to be listed next week now. Happy for Misha and 30 Seconds To Mars though. :) Edited April 3, 201313 yr by cookie_monster
April 3, 201313 yr I echo the surprise of Tom Odell being taken off the playlist, same goes to Justin Bieber's All Around the World - it hasn't made an impact on the charts yet. Still, nice to Calvin and Ellie going up to the A-list to assure that Top 10 placing a little bit more.
April 3, 201313 yr Justin Bieber "All Around the World" - this really didn't happen, did it? Surprised, I actually quite liked it; though more so when it was first released as a promotional single in 2012. All four of his UK single releases have actually been pretty decent in his second 'era'; shame he's just become one of those unlikeable characters in the media now. Finding it quite odd that R1 are slow to pick-up on OA/OS releases of recent. James Blake "Retrograde", AlunaGeorge "Attracting Flies", Fall Out Boy "My Songs..." and now 30 Seconds to Mars "Up In the Air" could/should all have been playlisted a lot earlier, especially given how well they all did initially on iTunes. Guess it adds a bit of longevity, which is benefitted AlunaGeorge in particular (131-109-84 thus far + looking to climb again this week). Fingers crossed Rihanna's "Pour It Up" can become a T15 hit at the least. I think it could do well given there's not a huge amount of R&B going around at the moment. Looking at the T10, we've Nelly doing Flo Rida and Pitbull doing his usual rubbish. Hoping the label actually invest in the release though, and not treat it as a "Talk That Talk"; which was 100% filler until they could gear up "Where Have You Been". In the case of "Unapologetic", I'm hoping they don't push "Right Now" too early. Given the success of "Diamonds" and "Stay", they could easily push another of the ballads, "Half of Me" or "Love Without Tragedy" for example. And personally, if they want to go down the dance-y route, I'd go with the Labrinth-produced "Lost in Paradise"; much more unique than "Right Now". Straight to B-List for Chris Brown next week, perhaps?
April 3, 201313 yr Chris Malinchak is not in the New Release Schedule. :o It's great on first listen though. ^_^
April 3, 201313 yr Oh wow at Chris Malinchak going straight to the B-List, definitely looking like a hit now! Can't believe this, I heard it a few weeks ago and really liked it but never even thought that it could become a hit. Otherwise pretty uninteresting additions (yay for Daughter I guess, I'm not a fan of the new Vampire Weekend single at all so far sadly :() but great climbers to the A/B-List!
April 5, 201313 yr I'm glad Iggy is still on the A list she's gradually climbing on itunes and hope she goes top 20.Also surprised The Sats are still on the A list !

Guess it adds a bit of longevity, which is benefitted AlunaGeorge in particular (131-109-84 thus far + looking to climb again this week). I listen to mostly Radio 1 so I don't know if other stations are any better/worse but Radio 1 aren't very good with OA/OS. First time round it was very notable I remember Jessie J Price Tag which went in at 1 on it's first week was on the A-List for far too long as it was bombing down the chart. As they didn't straight B-List/A-List it but treated it like a normal held back release. So by it's later weeks on the playlist it was becoming fairly irrelevant. There has been a bit of a new wave of OA/OS records which I think is a good thing but they seem unwilling to treat OA/OS tracks any differently to other tracks still. I think AlunaGeorge was more to do with the fact that they were playing the Disclosure track to be fair. For minor hits it's less noticeable like James Blake. But with something which was pretty huge to start with like Fall Out Boy by the time it's A-Listed it's languishing much lower in the chart. I think Radio 1 need to have a think about their policy regarding OA/OS obviously they aren't simply meant to reflect the public taste (otherwise Ant & Dec would be on the playlist) but having tracks on the A-List as they head down the chart seems odd. If I was in charge something like Fall Out Boy or the Jessie J example I used earlier would have been straight A-List or maybe B-List and then as the tracks loses some steam downgraded. Giving it a normal length of time on the playlist but also more in touch with the public's buying patterns.
