JONATHAN BAILEY... TAKE ME NOW *.*

 

I've been looking forward to this episode ever since Keeley Hawes and Jonathan Bailey were announced, as well as seeing all the filming pics. Absolutely stunning episode! Definitely my favourite so far :wub:

 

I did initially think 'The Caretaker' would be the dud of the series considering all of Gareth's previous efforts have been, but it actually looks quite decent!

Oh dear Lord, another alien monster romance.

I don't think it was a romance as such, more just one half of the two last members of a species being locked away from the other.

Probably the best, most consistent episode of the series. The Doctor's reactions to Clara's date at the start of the episode was hilarious, the villain was pretty scary, and it was resolved in a great way.

Pains me to rank 'Robot of Sherwood' so low because it really is amazing.

Not sure I entirely GOT this episode, I found it kinda hard to follow at some points, got into it more as it went on though.

It wasn't just me then. I thought the first 25 minutes or so was largely poor apart from the dialogue about Clara's date. Thankfully it improved after that. Of course, there was also Jonathan Bailey to provide some eye candy.

 

Wasn't there also a reference to the woman in the shop early on?

I found the ending pretty bad, but I was quite sleepy so I'll have to rewatching it :P

I am really enjoying this series so far - probably the most since the days of Donna.

Its definitely putting the awful Series 7 to shame.

Very good episode, I haven't been particularly disappointed by any episode so far, which is good going. I did find that, while interesting, this one felt a bit like a filler episode in the grand scheme of things.

 

I think the series direction is definitely building, which is good. I'm guessing 'the woman in the shop' and Missy will probably be resolved. I also get the feeling that Clara shouldn't be dating Danny for some reason or another. I've noticed that the Doctor has asked her who she's dating on a few occasions and she hasn't said anything - I think he asks it again in the preview for next week. We've met his sister (?) in episode 2 and a younger version of him and his great grandson in episode 4. I just feel suspicious of it all, I don't think they're showing bits of Clara's social life for no reason.

Time Heist was a good episode (and timey-wimey again which I LOVE!), however, I don't think it was executed as well as it could have been at times. Having said that, so far in terms of execution Series 8 is shitting all over Series 7 and all of the plots are pretty strong.

 

I'm expecting to to see the augmented human and mutant human back again at some point as I felt they were underused considering they had quite a lot of back story.

I really enjoyed last night's episode...until the last 10-15 minutes when it just went a bit downhill for me and I lost interest

 

Keeley Hawes was way too underused for me and I do think there were too many ideas and concepts that could have been explored better as a 2 part story which is why I don't like these episodes where there are 2 writers

 

I'm not looking forward to next week, yet another Danny episode so soon after Listen but I'll still give it a go but as always I'm loving Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, I wish we could just have these two in every episode!

So basically you cannot make any comment whatsoever re. the other three episodes.

The ratings have been ok, not exactly amazing but still quite consistent (given the lack of consistency in the quality of the episodes for me!!)
