October 5, 201410 yr I was a bit bored for the first 20 minutes but I really enjoyed the rest. I liked Clara being angry with the Doctor and him not understanding why.
October 5, 201410 yr I thought it was the best episode so far this series, and that's quite high praise as I've enjoyed them all so far! Seems very divisive amongst fans though.
October 5, 201410 yr Foxes is on next :w00t: looks proper creepy too. I didn't find this episode too bad anywhoo, but yeah it was not as good as I thought it was going to be
October 5, 201410 yr I was really looking forward to this, a proper alien threat and crew being picked off one by one...but then it went a bit downhill for me when it decided to do the whole moral dilemma/human choice thing. It wasn't a bad episode but I just want a big Doctor trying to save the world from an alien type of story. Next weeks looks creepy but I'm not getting too excited as it will probably be a let down Still can't get enough of the Doctor/Clara dynamic, more great performances and if this is Jenna's last series she's certainly going out on a high!
October 5, 201410 yr just watched it, great to look at, loved the character interplay, though plotwise, errr it laid an egg. The Doctor has interfered throughout his existence in other worlds, a bit late in the day to suddenly take a back seat. The growth/ loss of the moon as if it would just affect the tides and thats it is just silly. Where'd the mass come from? You don't get something from nothing a growing baby would just take up more room or absorb what was available around it. The moon has kept the Earth stable presumably the sudden removal, even if for only minutes, would be catastrophic in the real physics-based world. It was just very silly all round.
October 5, 201410 yr Yes but some planets have loads of moons. We could just nick one :D In the deleted scenes, it was revealed that Earth entered into negotiations with, and joined, the Galactic Union in 2032, which allowed for the free movement of natural satellites within the Milky Way. Unfortunately, the unpopularity of the body by a vocal minority led to the foundation of the Gaia Independence Party (GIP), who sought to remove Earth from the union and expel all moons from the atmosphere ("look at those bloody moons, coming over here, freeloading off our orbit"). Eventually GIP found their way into power, got earth out of the GU and expelled all non-indigenous satellites, before events on the only moon left led to the deaths of millions. So well done GIP.

October 6, 201410 yr I have a loose theory on the Promised Land/Missy arc. Which villain is returning in the final episode? Could it be that somehow the bodies/minds of dead people are being used to build an army of this villain? There's definitely an evil undertone to this Promised Land/Missy, could it be that it's just an image projected into their minds when actually they've been converted into something else? That's a really good idea actually :o Hadn't thought of it that way!
October 6, 201410 yr I've watched 'Kill the Moon' twice now, and really don't understand at all where the criticisms is coming from. By far the strongest episode of the series so far, and dare I say it one of the strongest NuWho episodes. Everything fell into place perfectly, the plot was very solid, the climax was something rather beautiful and posed a very poignant question about our moon (the odds of the moon actually being an egg waiting to hatch are slim, but it was still a very very nice twist), the threat was actually threatening, the character development was on point, natural (matched with exquisite dialogue), and the guest cast were the best we've had in a long while. The potential with Hermione Norris' character wasn't wasted like it was with Keeley Hawes. It all just seemed to flow very naturally and as close to realism as possible. The scares, the emotion and everything else weren't overdone, it was all just really believable. Courtney's actually a character I'm finding myself wanting to see (a lot) more of as well. Unlike other child characters there have been, she's the right balance between unknowing, youthful question-asker and witty schoolgirl who actually serves a purpose to the episode without being a mere plot device. The end scene with the Doctor and Clara though, wow. That was probably my favourite moment of the series by far. Chilling, and although Jenna's acting was PERFECT and the crack(s) in their relationship seemed real and it wasn't just something that appeared from nowhere - something that's been building up over the course of the series with her not being sure at all whether she does know the man she's travelling with despite taking 11's word for it - I think I'm feeling more sorry for the Doctor right now. The whole idea of the Doctor leaving the two of them to make the most important decision of their lives themselves was a flawless moment. And I really hope that's not the last time we see him do something as ruthless as that (although if the rumours re. 'Mummy on the Orient Express' are true, I think not). So yeah, definitely an episode I'll be revisiting a lot. I have a loose theory on the Promised Land/Missy arc. Which villain is returning in the final episode? Could it be that somehow the bodies/minds of dead people are being used to build an army of this villain? There's definitely an evil undertone to this Promised Land/Missy, could it be that it's just an image projected into their minds when actually they've been converted into something else? I'm actually thinking something along those lines also, although part of me is fully expecting it all to vaguely resemble 'Army of Ghosts' in the sense that The Promised Land is where these victims are being thrown (or where they imagine themselves to be) before/while being transformed into Cybermen?
October 6, 201410 yr You feel more sorry for the doctor than Clara? Fair enough, his logic was a little bit of bad medicine, but it will do them good, but he is really coming off as totally unsympathetic, arrogant, lacking in compassion and generally just being a bit of a twat. Capaldi plays it effortlessly and I know they wanted a Doctor with an edge and it makes excellent TV, but the way he treats Clara and those around him just smacks of hubris.
October 6, 201410 yr Am I the only one annoyed by Peter Capaldi acting like a bitter old lady every single episode?
October 7, 201410 yr I've watched this again and it remained an episode with a couple of nice ideas that should probably have never been combined. The spiders only really featured for the first third and only once were they even remotely threatening or scary... I found the second half of the episode better but it just didn't bare any relation to the spider story at all - it really would have been better to have the entire episode focus on the dilemma about the moon and the breakdown in Clara/Doctor relationship and just save the spiders for a fleshed out story of their own. October 11, 201410 yr Great episode tonight, my favourite of the series so far. It was a bit like Time Heist in terms of pace and action, but with that added sense of urgency and slight scariness, great setting as well, always love mysteries on a moving train. The mummy was very convincing and looked really good too. My only qualm being the resolution seemed a little bit rushed and I'm not sure I entirely got what GUS' intentions were, he didn't seem to be 'destroyed' either so perhaps we could see him later on? Seeing The Doctor and Clara patch things up and the Doctor actually act totally selfless was lovely, a little bit fast but they are so good together that I couldn't have imagined them apart for long (looks like it's heading for quite a sad end for her at the end of the series if she's still with him). The actions of the Doctor were definitely the sort of thing he'd do and was great coming after that very out of character moment last week. (Foxes wasn't really in that much was she? It sounded like she'd have a major part from some of what I read) Ranking: 01. Mummy On The Orient Express 02. Time Heist 03. Deep Breath 04. Listen 05. Into The Dalek 06. The Caretaker 07. Kill The Moon 08. Robots of Sherwood Edited October 11, 201410 yr by Chez Wombat
October 11, 201410 yr I agree one of my favourite episodes so far of the series, I thought Foxes was going to have more impact on the episode, it was more of cruise ship performance for her.
October 12, 201410 yr It was a great episode. I can certainly see some younger viewers reviving the old tradition of hiding behind the sofa. A good use of Frank Skinner too with a few Skinner type jokes thrown in.
October 12, 201410 yr Full version of 'Don't Stop Me Now' with some new clips from the upcoming episodes as well! :o h-OTYT02W7E LOVED that episode. It had the right balance of almost everything. The Doctor was fantastic and his line about old ladies dying basically being their job description had me in stitches for all the wrong reasons. I'm finding myself starting to hate Clara though, and I really shouldn't be. And I also get the impression it's not the way the audience as a whole are supposed to feel right now, but oh well. Glad they've made up though, even if the whole thing was a bit disjointed with just how angry she was in 'Kill the Moon'. All in all, an episode with a really stunning visual environment and it was something really different and interesting. It really is hard to rank the episodes from this series though because literally all of them have been perfect, minus one. 1. Kill the Moon 2. Time Heist 3. Mummy on the Orient Express 4. Listen 5. Deep Breath 6. The Caretaker 7. Robot of Sherwood 8. Into the Dalek
October 12, 201410 yr Great episode, possibly my favourite of the whole series! Only criticism being the ending, it felt a bit rushed but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Next weeks looks interesting
