Time to start the speculation for who will be the UK entry for the 2014 contest in Denmark!

Little Boots has revealed that she is interested in taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. The electropop singer - real name Victoria Hesketh - tweeted that she may consider entering next year to provide a fresh song for the UK.

She tweeted: "Would be totally up for Eurovision. Maybe I should enter." BBC Eurovision host Graham Norton wrote in reply: "You will get the call!"

Bonnie Tyler came 19th out of 26 countries for the UK with her song 'Believe in Me', while fellow veteran Engelbert Humperdinck finished second from bottom the year before. The BBC has been urged to find a younger act to represent the UK next year, with former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips - who choreographed Humperdinck - saying: "It's time for a frivolous, fun-filled, catchy pop song - edgy yet crowd-pleasing."

Kylie Minogue's musical director Steve Anderson, added: "It's time for the BBC to realise the older artists/naff song route isn't the way to go - and hand over to people who get it." A BBC insider told The Sun: "It's widely agreed the UK entry needs to be younger."

Little Boots would be amazing! Especially with a song like 'Remedy'!

That article is spot on with it's observations. But LOL at "Arlene Phillips - who choreographed Humperdinck - ..." choreographed? LMAO. He didn't do ANYTHING.

But nice to see that there seems to be talk of the UK getting fed up with this whole sending retired, has beens. I doubt they'll listen though. :drama:

We don't just need a youthful artist, but a National Final as well.

I'd don't think Little Boots would do well. My main position ATM is that a girl group should represent the UK.

I'm not sure about Little Boots, for me I would prefer Birdy, Charlene Soraira or Gabrielle Aplin, we did well with the likes of Jessica Garlick and Jade Ewan. I'm not sure about a girl group representing UK.

Oh but he did Jonjo. :(

He did his signature finger in the air move as he sang "you" in the line "if you love someone...". It was the most important part of the whole performance. :D

...but on the flip side, do the UK really need to send a ballad three years in a row? :D

The irony is, the one year the BBC do send something uptempo, a ballad will probably win. Probably Azerbaijan too!!!

I would've still said an act like Hurts could potentially deliver the goods but the singles from their second album aren't a patch on their debut so I doubt even Hurts would win Eurovision representing the UK.

BBC would be crazy not to act on it and get her signed up, she could then have the time to come up with a stomper of a song and do well in the competition. It is the BBC though we are talking about so they will probably let this opportunity just slip away and send another dud into the competition.

Simon Cowell has reconfirmed interest in finding an artist for the UK for next year's Eurovision! Read Digital Spy's article here!

I think Simon would do a much better job than the BBC has managed the last couple of years!

I still believe in the idea that we don't need to send someone well known. It's a song contest - sending Bonnie Tyler who was a big name, made f*** all difference. IDK how I feel about Simon - I think if it happened, it would be good, he knows the right people to work with to create a modern hit.

But, he's an ITV man, biggest problem there.

Completely agree with this. Big names make no difference whatsoever.... I mean Cascada were probably the best-known name in this year's Contest around Europe, and they bombed.

We definitely need a public vote of some sort to choose our entry next year. The public may be bad at making good choices, but if the last couple of years have shown anything it's that the anonymous BBC bureaucrats are even worse at making these decisions.

Are people seriously expecting Little Boots to do well if she did this? Although I suppose she could do well if she chose the right song. It's ridiculous, why don't the BBC take inspiration from the winners instead of investing in their dusty old traditions (not talking about Little Boots by the way)?

They are looking for someone young and they are sending Little Boots?

I meant the last couple of years...

I bet they send of the Reunion bands next year like 5ive etc. Little Boots wouldn't be too bad though. They need to get back to providing the UK with showstopper song imo. Not bland old ballads by past it singers. Sorry Bonnie :(

Sarah Dawn Finer has revealed that she would "would love to write a song or sing for the UK". Read the full story here!

...in 2015.

This MUST happen. She is such an incredible singer with a brilliant personality. If only the BBC had enough sense to make this happen.

As if the BBC would even consider it. They would risk actually winning Eurovision so I'm sure they'll pass and ensure we get represented by another "no chance" next year.
