Wiley for top ten! :D

OMG @ Read All About It used again. Why do the same songs get performed over and over on these talent shows? There's thousands of songs out there, why is it always the same ones?!?!

Still think it's all about deals!

Random note but Leah McFall's single 'artwork' is just... the worst.

Second worst. I saw P!nk's artwork in the Hate thread for the first time  Can anyone sayyyy pretentious?

Did Keith Lemon's track make the top 40 at all on itunes? Hilarious!

Whilst I agree Icona Pop should come out asap I don't necessarily think it will affect long term sales too much. Many songs are held back and it just means they end up having massive first week sales. Payphone was held back for 6 weeks and a fake version even went top 10 and yet Payphone opened with 140k and sold 700k. So there are always exceptions to the rule IMO.

I think releasing it next week would be perfect. The John Newman Vs Icona Pop could be quite exciting. Even though John is now ahead in pre-orders, that doesnt necessarily mean it will win it. Could be quite close in the end. I can see both doing over 100k anyway.

This is why I'm pretty sure there's deals going on between labels + X Factor/ BGT. Westlife weren't played non-stop throughout X Factor for the quality of their music, after all. And excessive hammering of the same song by Sade over and over? Expect it to be the song of every second audition this year on X Factor too, followed by it being sung in the final.

I went to a presentation done by someone from the IFPI, and he said the thing record companies hire most people for at the moment is for synchronisation teams. They're people who go to companies and suggest them songs from the artists on the label to be used in their adverts, video games, TV shows, movies, etc.

Ahh see this makes a lot of sense Mr Blob. I knew there must've been something going on, Adele's song reemerging just as 21 was about to drop, EMelie Sande and all the other songs getting pillaged, by both acts and background music/ vts/ segments (and adverts).

But 'Payphone' was held back a lot less time than 'I Love It'. Plus, more importantly, long-established acts like Maroon 5 have a stronger fanbase who have more loyalty to them, so people who liked them would've been more willing to wait until the song came out legally to buy it so as to support them .... whereas people who like 'I love It' will feel no such loyalty to a faceless unknown act like Icona Pop (just as they didn't with Sak Noel or Chris Malinchak) and so will have no qualms about downloading it illegally rather than waiting for it to be released, so they'll definitely be losing out on a lot more sales than Maroon 5.

Yeah, for example, We Are Young, might have been pitched by synchronisation teams to the makers of Glee, and also to that company which used it in the Superbowl advert, and then after that it became a big hit all over the world.

However, you can never be sure. They can't force anybody to use a song if they don't want to.

'Everything Has Changed' is doing very well imo. It was never going to jump straight into the top 3 on iTunes within a few hours or anything like that -- most people need to hear a song a few times before they buy it, and tonight would've been the first time most people had heard the song (I know some people were suggesting it could do what 'Beneath Your Beautiful' did, but that song was an anomaly because it had such an immediate impact on people).

Hopefully though, this performance will kickstart airplay for the song and keep the song creeping up for another week or two (a bit like Rihanna's Stay, which "only" went top 20 on iTunes in the immediate aftermath of its X Factor performance but kept rising after that).

What on Earth? Can you say anything regarding P!nk without being biased? :/
And if Wiley sells enough for top 200 tomorrow, is there potential of a record leap as the single is released tomorrow?

No - the record within-chart climb is unbeatable, since Westlife once climbed 200-1 (thanks to leaks).

Firework will get a nice boost towards a million now hopefully :D By far Katy Perry's best song.

The last total I have is 931,752 @ 13/4/13, and it seems to sell 1k-ish a week normally, so ~940k now.

She looks like she's squeezing out a shit

More like trying, but failing! :P

What on this EARTH is WRONG with you? There's nothing wrong with P!nk's artwork?!

 12. Taylor Swift "Everything Has Changed" (also #21)

 25. Wiley "Lights On"

Wiley outdoing my expectations. Could peak around #21/22 at this rate.

I'd like 'Lights On' to go top ten to maybe spark some interest in Angel again, also it's a much better song than 'Reload'.

Did you ask P!nk out on a date and she stood you up or something? You seem to be obsessed with her, almost all your posts are about her.
