June 12, 201313 yr Hopefully 'Mirrors' can hang in the top 40 for another week! Getting a little frustrated with Mariah Carey though. PEAK HIGHER GODDAMNIT! :( EDIT: Omg. Salad Fingers <3 Takes me back!
June 12, 201313 yr Not sure if Leah McFall will hold onto top ten this week - depends how much of a boost the track gets on Saturday!
June 12, 201313 yr One new entry in the Top 40 chart update (plus a re-entry for "Summertime" - though looking outside my window right now I think it's rather an ironic re-entry), holding back releases does make the chart interesting doesn't it?
June 12, 201313 yr Author Midweek Charts: Sabbath battling Beady Eye for No1 Source: MW by Paul Willams Black Sabbath are heading for their highest-charting album in the UK since 1970 with 13 challenging Beady Eye for the No 1 spot. The Vertigo-issued set, the long-coming follow-up to 1995's Forbidden and the band's first to feature Ozzy Osbourne since Never Say Die in 1978, is currenty around 4,500 sales ahead of Beady Eye's second album Be, according to the Official Chart Company. The last time Sabbath managed to penetrate the top two positions on the UK abums chart was back in 1970 with their first and only chart-topper Paranoid, while Forbidden in comparsion only rose as high as No 71. Beady Eye look likely reaching a new albums peak, even if the Columbia-issued Be does not end up at No 1 this Sunday, as it seems destined to debut somewhere in the top two. Their debut and last album Different Gear Still Speeding reached No 3 in 2011. Completing a top three comprising entirely new entries at this stage of the week is Tomorrow's Harvest, the new album from Warp's Scottish electronic duo Boards Of Canada. It is new at 3 in the latest midweeks, some 18 places better than their current chart peak of 21 achieved with the album Geogaddi in 2002. KT Tunstall is looking to make it four albums out of four in the Top with ther Virgin-issued Invisible Empire/Crescent Moon presently sowing up as a new entry at 7. Her first two albums Eye To The Telescope and Drastic Fantastic both peaked at 3, while 2011's Tiger Suit made it to No 5. Sales of Mercury act Taylor Swift's Red leap 331% on the week to send it 25-10 in the midweeks after she performed Everything Has Changed with Ed Sheeran on last Saturday's final of ITV1's Britain's Got Talent. The track itself races 53-5 on the midweek singles chart. The new entries and rising demand for Swift's album send all of last Sunday's Top 10 heading downwards, some sharply. PMR/Island act Disclosure drop 1-4 with debut album Settle, Rod Stewart's Capitol/Decca set Time is down 4-5, Daft Punk's Columbia album Random Access Me further drops 3-6, Nettwerk's Passenger slips 5-8 with All The Little Lights and Queens Of The Stone Age's Mator debut Like Clockwork drops 2-9. Status Quo are heading for a chart return with what in Bula Quo is the soundtrack to their first ever feature film. Featuring nine new songs and six re-recordings, the album on their own Fourth Chord label is new at 13 in the midweeks. Although set to miss out on a Top 10 place, The Art Of Doing Nothing should become Mark Owen's highest-charting solo album yet with the Polydor release showing up at 18 in the midweeks. His current solo peak is 33 with first post Take That offering Green Man in 1996. His last solo effort, How The Mighty Fall, which was released in the year before Take That's 2006 comeback album Beautiful World, failed to chart. Following BBC Two's broadcast of the documentary the History of the Eagles, the band's Rhino retrospective The Complete Greatest Hits leaps 61-12 in the midweeks with sales increasing nearly seven-fold, while Hotel California re-enters the midweek singles chart. The RCA-issued Damage, Jimmy Eat World's eighth studio album, is new at 19 in the midweeks, while other new arrivals include a Bruce Springteen retrospective on Columbia on a new Good Goo Dolls album through Warner Bros. The Robin Thicke featuring TI and Pharrell Williams single will be No 1 for a third week on the singles chart and on course for another 100,000-plus sales tally having already shifted nearly 90,000 further copies this week. The Interscope/Polydor track was boosted by a performance on Graham Norton's BBC One chat show last Friday, giving it a 50,000 unit sales lead over Virgin act Naughty Boy's La La La featuring Sam Smith at No 2. Passenger's Nettwerk single Let Her Go single moves 4-3 ahead of Swift/Sheeran's Everything Has Changed as Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams' Columbia track Get Lucky falls 3-4. Sales of Olly Murs' Epic cut Dear Darlin' are up 5% on the week, but it slips 5-6, while Jessie J's Lava/Republic-issued single Wild with Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal gains a place to 7. The Voice UK contestant Leah McFall's UMTV-issued cover of I Will Survive jumps 16-8 as Wiley's One More Tune/Warner Bros cut Lights On featuring Angel surges 189-9 and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's Can't Hold Us with Ray Dalton on the Macklemore label is down 9-10. Also performed on the Britain's Got Talent final, PSY's Republic/Island single Gentleman rises 51-15 with sales up 414%. June 12, 201313 yr Oh whoops, I forgot to do the chart this week. Maybe I'll remember next week. Maybe.
June 12, 201313 yr One new entry in the Top 40 chart update (plus a re-entry for "Summertime" - though looking outside my window right now I think it's rather an ironic re-entry), holding back releases does make the chart interesting doesn't it? Well technically if John Newman/Icona Pop/etc. had released OA/OS there would still only be 1 new entry top 40 because they would have entered a few weeks ago. In fact there would probably be 0 new entries as Wiley would have already been available as well if he hadn't 'held it back' by making it album only. :P 'Summertime' has dropped a lot on iTunes since the weather took a turn for the worse again. Would have been quite nice to see it in the top 40 last week, just 1 place off...
June 12, 201313 yr Author I knew it was going to be a dead week in the singles, another 90k for Robin Thicke, I should imagine 150-160k for the week. Surprised KT Tunstall is top 10 with her album is it really that good. I wouldn't have thought of seeing Black Sabbath at #1, its a bit of a rock week in the albums chart
June 12, 201313 yr Would not be a fan of either of the top 2 groups in the album chart would rather see Disclosure hold on.
June 12, 201313 yr Would not be a fan of either of the top 2 groups in the album chart would rather see Disclosure hold on. Would also like to see Olly Murs sneak back into the top 5 singles which i think he will and also sneak back into the top 10 albums which may not happen as he may stall at #11.
June 12, 201313 yr I would predict similar sales as last week for Thicke. Seeing as on Friday midweeks last week he had sold around 120k he is ahead of that ATM. However no Graham Norton boost this week should see week end sales similar IMO.

However no Graham Norton boost this week should see week end sales similar IMO. I wouldn't, I would estimate around 1.8-2X (end of Tuesday sales) which is the range 162-180 K, so around a 10-20% decline.
June 12, 201313 yr Surprised KT Tunstall is top 10 with her album is it really that good. I wouldn't have thought of seeing Black Sabbath at #1, its a bit of a rock week in the albums chart Oh, I knew it'd be top 10 in the midweeks but I'm fairly certain it'll enter at #13 on Sunday.

June 12, 201313 yr I thought songs usually sold just over 2x their Wednesday midweek total? Well it varies, but even 2x(the upper value) would suggest a fall of about 10%. I would expect it to be closer to around 1.8x though because the biggest sales day is Sunday and he was still benefiting from the Graham Norton boost then.
June 12, 201313 yr Surprised KT Tunstall is top 10 with her album is it really that good. I wouldn't have thought of seeing Black Sabbath at #1, its a bit of a rock week in the albums chart Well, that's because it's a bit of a Father's Day week...
June 12, 201313 yr So Black Sabbath may top the albums chart 43 years after their last number one. Does anyone have a list of the longest gap for albums of new material?
June 12, 201313 yr So Black Sabbath may top the albums chart 43 years after their last number one. Does anyone have a list of the longest gap for albums of new material? MW confirmed the biggest gap was Bob Dylan's 1970-2009 gap when Rod Stewart went to #1 (taking the British record). So Black Sabbath will take the British record by nearly 10 years and the overall record by about 4.
