By the sounds of it, Icona Pop were too scared to go up against her! :basil:

But seriously, I am a bit annoyed it's been brought forward a week (if true)! I was looking forward to a genuine, close chart battle! :(

I think it will be closer than we think between The Wanted and Icona Pop tbh.

I hope you're very wrong Jack. :( The Wanted need to be as far away from number 1 as humanly possible!

Wanted are going to smash Icona Pop sadly. Faced with a choice between a brilliant worldwide chart smash and OMG THE WANTED ARE MENTIONING RIHANNA, the latter's gonna win out every time.

Saying that, please prove me wrong!!

I hope Icona Pop open with 150k+!

So glad they have brought the release date forward a week. Now we can be sure The Wanted won't get to #1

I know that 'Call Me Maybe' was brought forward more weeks than 'I Love It' is going to be, but I wouldn't be surprised if sales increased in the second week like 'Call Me Maybe' did - especially as many people may not be expecting it to be released this Sunday who had seen the June 30th release date on iTunes and in magazines and newspapers that it has possibly been in.

If Walks Like Rihanna gets #1 over I Love It, it would probably be one of THE biggest chart travesties ever. WLR is such utter shit it makes The Club Is Alive look like Bad Romance by comparison!
It looks like Arctic Monkeys will be Top 10 officially on Sunday which would be their first since Fluorescent Adolescent, six years ago :o

I feel alone in wanting Walks Like Rihanna to go to #1 over I Love It

Of course, I would prefer Delta Goodrem to rise up and beat them both, but i wont hold my breath.

I hope Icona Pop open with 150k+!

:yahoo: Excellent

There's goes Wanted of getting a #1, its gertting slimmer now.

I'm not sure why either would be affected by bringing it forward a week?

Yes, that's what I said in my original post :P It's pointless to bring it forward a week now when it'll make precisely no difference, they may as well have stuck to their guns.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Icona vs. John would be close at all? I think John would be lucky to sell 75% of them head-to-head. He has much more of a chance on their second week.

Surprise Surprise

Well, he's not a r*pper, so my not liking the song should be a *bit* of a surprise, at least... :P

I would say it's the other way round. The UK does propel a lot of fanbase acts to #1 but the majority of the time it is the big worldwide hits that win out when they're in competition. See 'We Found Love' beating several boybands to #1. There's no way The Wanted will beat Icona Pop.

Anything over 'I Love It' would be good. Robin Thicke for a 5th week somehow please.

Is Woke Up This Morning (Got Myself A Gun) in the iTunes chart? the man from The Sopranos sadly didn't wake up this morning :(

 101. Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning (Official Theme Tune of 'The Sopranos')

Rest In Peace fat Tony!

lol, I don't think that'll help the song really. I can think of quite a few songs mentioning (or referring to) Rihanna that haven't even charted top 200.

To be fair, I think the instrumental of the song could've easily been the beat to a hip hop song. I'm sure a rapper will sample it soon lol.

Bye Bye Robin Thickle i guess!

So how many pages long will the iTunes thread be next week? 100?

I think the iTunes thread will probably be longer if Icona Pop actually miss #1, since it'll be full of melt-downs. I really wish I posted here when Remedy by Little Boots missed #1, that would've been hilarious.

'Remedy' was a post-album single so there wasn't a single week of concentrated meltdowns over it. I think it actually did a lot better than most people expected.

I'm more worried about the mid thread -_-
