Oh Davidson. I normally agree with what you have to say but Wake Me Up is amazing and could definitely be his best by some distance as well soon. :( I can't remember the last time a song gave me goosebumps when I first listened to it!

Nice to see the Backstreet Boys make the Top 100 but i suspect its late for them to get an official top 100 entry with it now.
As much as Icona Pop have been criticised for their release strategy, they were right (imo) to wait until they achieved US success to give the song a push in the UK (proven by R1 not playlisting it originally). If Zedd had followed this strategy, it could've definitely been top 3 at least.

No it wouldn't  If being a hit in the US automatically meant a song becomes a hit (which isn't always true anyway, since even songs by British artists like Cher Lloyd and Ellie Goulding that were big in the States didnt do anything here), then what's stopping people buying it right now? It's still out and available for anyone to buy at any time. Why would releasing it now make any difference?

You might have a point if it was still physicals that mattered, where it made sense for record labels to hold off releases until some momentum had been built up purely because the major shops would only be willing to stock it for a certain amount of time (and might have stopped stocking them by the time the songs had reached a certain level of exposure), but in the download era where an infinite number of downloads are available forever, there's never anything to lose by releasing it early.

101 & 184. They might sneak in.

I think he meant more giving it a push again (which equates to a re-release if you will).

It's not even like 'Clarity' has been a massive hit in the USA, it's a middling top 15 hit so far...

On a COMPLETELY unrelated note I notice Kendrick Lamar hasn't re-entered the top 100 after the weekend effect died, currently at #123 - I guess it was mainly doing well due to Nick Grimshaw having it as his record of the week and it doesn't have that push now :(

Clarity deserved to be a huge hit :( That and 'Magnetic Eyes' two dance songs that charted around the same time just sorta disappeared (Although I didn't really expect much from the latter).
Oops, guess my prediction of Chase & Status was wrong, though looks like I was right about the Wanted.

Urgh, It's criminal how much 'Magnetic Eyes' and 'Clarity' underperformed, especially the latter.

24. John Newman - Love Me Again

132. The Saturdays - Gentleman

Can I be the *only* person here who thinks that the John Newman song has been overrated?

Yes.

Im so excited for the day Gent. is release! Team Sats! I'd love to see it top 5 at least!

Oh my god, the Sats looning has begun!

Don't worry, I'll take care of it!

Expecto Spiceium Girlium Patronusssssssssss!

I cant wait. its the most stressful time of the season when a Saturelease occurs.

Last time I was so DP if WAU wasn't number one, this time i need a number six! otherwise i dont know what im gonna do

I'm no way near as hyped up for the 'Gentleman' release, it should scrape the top 10 and have a 30 days chart run, it's airplay has been underwhelming and if Stooshe missed the top 10 with more airplay, I dread to think what awaits for 'Gentleman'.
I see no reason why 'Gentleman' won't be #4...

I assume they will need to sell around 55,000 to be #04 next week, something I heavily doubt will be achievable. I'm desperate for 'Gentleman' to peak at #06 though!

So are we all agreeing now, weeks after I was laughed oot the thread, that it'll be a no. 28 peak?

For the first time in the past few weeks, this song has re-entered the top 1500 on Pop iTunes!!!

:cheer:

And 30 minutes later...

 1324. Diana Vickers - Cinderella

Given it's still #3 in the Friday mids then no, you're not.
