So, Buzzjack's favourite music festival is BACK. Well, it's almost back. Dates are yet to be set! But it's SOON! *.*

For those who are familiar with Melodifestivalen and participated last time, you know how this all works. For the members who are new to the concept, it takes the format of the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen. There are four 'heats', each containing around 8 songs (ALL of which must be exactly 3 minutes, or under, in length). The top two songs from each heat will qualify directly to the grand final, while the songs ranked 3rd and 4th from each heat will go to Andra Chansen (Second Chance), where they will battle it out for the remaining slots in the grand final. If you would like to read about our previous version of this competition, you can catch up by using these links:

Hype.

I'm sure I'll flop epically in this but I will make sure to actually enter this time!

I'm just waiting for Phil to come dressed up as a crazed Essex lady who can't pronounce 'Caerfyrddia', and it'll be JUST like Melodifestivalen has arrived in the forum.

Giving me so many idea's!

Welcome to the a-MAY-zing country of New-MAY-nia

I think I've got an idea for this (it's a kinda retro song and Bre is gonna hate it!). I expect to do even worse in this than in regular BJSC.
I'm guessing this is first come, first serve with regards to entering?
Oooh I know exactly what to send! :D Have been toying with it for the next contest as it's a pretty big risk, but seeing as it's under 3 minutes it'll be perfect for this!

Can we basically send anything or do the same rules as BJSC apply (plus a song length restriction)?

I feel like I may have trouble finding a song that's 3 minutes or less unless I send something quite old and probably well known ish.

Sort of.

Initially there are 28 spots up for grabs (Mods don't have to compete for a spot as we're hosting this shit) and then depending on the demand we may add extra spots to it in batches of four.

It's standard Spin-off rules as in the rules all apply but we're more relaxed towards them than usual but we ban all Eurovision/Junior ESC National Final songs in BJFEST in addition to the usual ban on ESC songs.

If it's ridiculously cheap we'll kick it out just to make sure it's as unpredictable as the contests have been lately.

Cheers! I have a song ready if I decided to enter this. I can always enter it in the next proper contest if not though.

Finding a song under 3 minutes is actually quite tough, but I really want to take part, so I will ensure I find one.

I NEED IN

(the promo video just made my day, not enough *.* faces in the world for it)

Why do the songs have to be three minutes or under?

Melodifestivalen is Sweden's ESC selection and the ESC rules state that songs can only be a maximum of 3mins long.
