July 30, 201312 yr Is the Avicii track selling as others expected here? 100K for a 3rd week seems a little less than I'd have imagined given the pre-release hype built up around it. I know I'm jumping ahead here, but does this mean Miley Cyrus is a shoe-in for #1 next week then?
July 31, 201312 yr Author As usual I won't be available for the Weds Update, Bre will be your host for today

July 31, 201312 yr Avicii seems to have increased its lead on itunes, might be around for a while yet.

July 31, 201312 yr It's like a proper chart so far with the new entries all clustered in the 31-40 range and prepared to CLIMB next week. :D
July 31, 201312 yr No sales info at all in the OCC reports this week. Ah well. Fingers crossed for the MW report. Sir Newman runnin' ting back up to #2 *.* Probably going to decrease in sales even if it holds onto #2 but he's still holding up great and there's hope that he may overtake Icona Pop's to date sales, never expected him to still be ahead of them this late into his run. Pretty dull singles chart otherwise but good to see Clean Bandit, Disclosure, Imagine Dragons and Rudimental ('Right Here' has finally grown on me) sneaking into the top 40. Clean Bandit will probably drop out by Sunday of course :( Jahméne's album still #2, maybe it won't have such awful overall sales... or maybe sales are just so horrific outside #1 that he's only dropped a place even on a huge sales decrease. David Guetta looks like he could be coming for yet another week at #2, would be the fourth week there for this album and the fifth for David Guetta including one for 'One Love' as well, he's still yet to get a week at #1. Who is actually buying that Scouting For Girls GH enough for it to be at #6 even in a low sales climate?! Martin Simpson providing the 'who the fuck is this' of the week in the albums chart although that might just be me being ignorant because he seems to have been around for ages, just never charted before.
July 31, 201312 yr Author No mid report from MW, mind you the writer that usually writes them has not posted any articles for the past 2 days, maybe he is on holiday.
July 31, 201312 yr I never thought Lana Del Ray and Cedric Gervais would have gone top 10 a week ago!!!! So happy to see it shooting up the chart, I'm hoping for a 5/6 finish by Sunday!! And to think I thought it would only get top 20 at best I'm so glad this track is exceeding my expectations! Good to see those new entries on the singles chart, hopefully Rudimental and Disclosure will climb through the week but I have a feeling Clean Bandit could drop out but Russ Chimes entered at 33 but fell to 40 on Sunday so fingers crossed!! Sales in the albums must be low for Jahmene to be at 2, I'm expecting a drop by Sunday or a very low sales week
July 31, 201312 yr 11 Backstreet Boys - In A World Like This Wohoo! Never thought they'd have a chance for top 20 (obviously they'll drop out but still)
July 31, 201312 yr Loving the new entries today, I hope they stay and climb by Sunday! Also, it's nice to see John Newman re-overtaking Blurred Lines! Am I the only one hoping Summertime Sadness stays at number 8 to keep up Lana's interesting chart history?
July 31, 201312 yr Update from OCC Facebook: Singles Avicii’s Wake Me Up set to break through the half a million copies sales barrier before the end of this week. The UK’s love affair with Avicii shows no sign of letting up as Wake Me Up looks set to top the Official Singles Chart for a third consecutive week. The 23-year-old superstar Swedish DJ and producer scored the fastest selling single of 2013 when Wake Me Up clocked up nearly 267,000 sales of the single during its first week. By last Sunday, that figure had risen to 421,000 and according to Official Charts Company predictions, the track will smash though the half a million copies sales barrier before the end of this week. “Being the fastest selling record [of 2013] is obviously a huge deal to me,” Avicii told Jameela Jamil on Sunday’s Official Chart Show on BBC Radio 1. “I never thought being on the Official Chart was an option. Dance music has its own things; we have our own charts and lists. So just being Number 1 is insane!” John Newman’s former chart topper, Love Me Again, climbs two places to Number 2, while Robin Thicke’s million-selling single Blurred Lines FT TI and Pharrell Williams holds firm at Number 3. One Direction’s Best Song Ever (4) and Icona Pop’s I Love It FT Charli XCX (5) completes the Top 5. High Climbers and New Entries Rudimental are on course for this week’s highest climber. Right Here FT Foxes, from their former Number 1 album Home, surges 25 places to make its Top 40 debut at Number 38. Meanwhile, the Cedric Gervais remix of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness helps propel the US singer’s track into the Official Singles Chart Update Top 10. It has climbed 24 places to Number 8 today. London-based singer / songwriter Eliza Doolittle is on course for this week’s highest new entry with Big When I Was Little, which looks set to debut at Number 11. Meanwhile, Clean Bandit look set to score their second Top 40 single this weekend. Dust Clears is at Number 33 on today’s Update. Albums Britain’s Got Talent brothers on course for Number 1 with debut album The Impossible Dream. They may have come third in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent final, but Richard and Adam Johnson are poised to finish in pole position on this week’s Official Albums Chart. Richard And Adam thought their dreams of becoming recording artists were over when a member of the orchestra stormed the stage during their performance in Britain’s Got Talent’s live final and pelted judge Simon Cowell with a carton of eggs. But now, it looks like the brothers from Holywell, North Wales may knock Jahmene Douglas’ Love Never Fails (Number 2) off Number 1 this weekend, according to today’s Official Chart Update with their debut album, The Impossible Dream. “We can’t believe how well the album’s doing,” Adam tells OfficialCharts.com. “We’re absolutely overwhelmed with all the support, so thank you to each and every one of you for making our dreams come true.” “Everyone I’m sure saw our final performance, which was interrupted by an unfortunate case of some egg throwing,” laughs Richard. “But we’re so happy now to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Simon Cowell gave us some wise words after the show. He said ‘Just keep working hard, doing what you’re doing, and I’m sure everything will work out really well for you.’ His wise words have really come true, and we just hope we can continue on the path we’re on.” David Guetta’s Nothing ButThe Beat climbs five places to Number 3 on today’s Update, while Passenger holds firm at Number 4 with All The Little Lights. This week’s Official Chart Update Top 5 is completed Aluna Francis and George Reid, AKA AlunaGeorge. The BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice nominees are set to chart at Number 5 with their debut album, Body Music. New Entries There are four other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart Update. Scouting For Girls look set to debut in the Top 10 with their new Best Of Collection. Greatest Hits, which features their Top 10 hits This Ain’t A Love Song, Elvis Ain’t Dead and She’s So Lovely, is new in at Number 6. Meanwhile, Backstreet Boys, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, are on course for their ninth Top 40 album this weekend with In A World Like This (11). US metal heavyweights Five Finger Death Punch look set to score their highest charting album to date with The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 1 (12), while veteran folk singer Martin Simpson is at 20 midweek with Vagrant Stanzas.
July 31, 201312 yr Lana Del Rey and Calvin Harris in the Top 10! :cheer: At the expense of Eliza Doolittle missing out mind. :( I was expecting AlunaGeorge to manage at least 10k this week, so for them to be #5 is quite disappointing, unless sales are a little better than I think. I would love 'Nothing but the Beat' to finally make number one - after three release formats and a load of successful hits, it would only be right! I think it would have been best off naming Scouting for Girls' collection a "singles collection" considering they've only had about 5 hits! :P Still, very happy it is in the Top 10 - hope it stays!
July 31, 201312 yr I think it would have been best off naming Scouting for Girls' collection a "singles collection" considering they've only had about 5 hits! :P Still, very happy it is in the Top 10 - hope it stays! And they're also practically the same song anyway.
July 31, 201312 yr Am I the only one surprised to see Dust Clears in the top 40? :o Hope Clean Bandit can stay there by sunday.
