Snow Patrol look likely to chart for yet another week pushing it one step closer to the inevitable million seller.

13.5k to go... B-)

What are the big contenders for next week? Ellie could get a third week if there's no big release :o

And wow! Clearly impressed by Gaga climbing all the way back up to #9 thanks to the video! :kink:

I wish people would stop taking what the loons are saying as gospel/any sort of accurate prediction. Applause is doing *decent* for an oa/os release, yes it's underperforming based on the mammoth expectations but it's stable in the top 10 which is better than free-falling like most songs released this way do at this stage. And it will hopefully be back ahead of the songs above it that were held back for weeks/months eventually.

 12. Drake - Hold On, We're Going Home (feat. Majid Jordan) - can hopefully claw back into the top 10 if it keeps increasing at this rate. Needs a lot of Radio 1 support and it can be huge.

The only possible contender would be Rizzle Kicks but I think they will finish top 5!

There is the possibility of Katy Perry maybe releasing early but I suspect this wont happen but Roar will be the track to beat Ellie so Burn could have 4 weeks at number one if Katy sticks to releasing on September 8th

Random question, do music videos sold on Itunes count towards the UK singles chart? I have always thought they don't.

No, music video's are not included in the chart thankfully!

True, but an oa/os release for Lady Gaga (or the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry, etc.) is not the same than for less popular artists who have to build up the hype for weeks and weeks before reaching a peak.

Yes, 'Applause' was technically an oa/os release, but the hype around it was HUGE, online (blogs, twitter, FB, forums, EVERYWHERE) as well as on radio (played straight away with HEAVY rotation) and literraly everywhere (even on TV I heard about it during the news + quite everyone was talking about it).

My point is that the "peak" of the hype/media attention for 'Applause' was clearly focused on its release (even if it was oa/os), while for casual artists the hype gradually grows for weeks after it goes to radio. That's why I think fans shouldn't expect it to re-peak IMO, it will be hard for it to top the hype it got last week (except with the VMAs maybe but still, I don't see it happening).

That's basically what i was getting at too - i was more aiming it at the fans of the song expecting it to shoot up miraculously and then everyone else jumping on that and branding it a flop because it hasn't shot up. It's underperformed based on the hype that it had before release, but for a normal song (because let's face it, that's what it is at best) to be released this way, it's doing decently. As much as i'd welcome it, i'm not for a second expecting it to repeak, but decent sales aren't out of the question if it can continue to stabilise. No doubt it will go into freefall soonish because that's what usually happens, but with her stint at the iTunes festival coming up, hopefully the decline won't be too harsh.

It's not going to have decent sales though unless something dramatic happens. It will fall to around #9 this week and that is with the video out. Next week it is more than likely going to drop out of the top 10 and I don't see anything recovering it.

Which ever way you put it, a new Lady Gaga song that has a video out and all the hype that is #9 on Itunes and likely to keep falling is a 'flop'.

It's Grimmy's Record of the Week this week, so they'll most likely add it to the playlist on Wednesday, I'd say this is a definite Top 10!

In other news 'Applause' is increasing rapidly, but so is 'Lifted' with it's 59p effect, both should leapfrog Lana Del Rey anytime soon now! G'WON GAGA! :cheer:
Yay for Lifted 59p! :cheer: Movement pls. Seems like they've been at #8 forever.
The top 10 just looks so busy, anything could happen, pardon the Ellie pun
Has Colbie Caillat's When The Darkness Comes not made any impact? :snif: such a great song.
