Really interested to see how the albums pan out this week, iTunes is rarely a good example of what the official chart will look like.

I could potentially see as many as 6 (+ Ellie) of the new releases being top 10 at least in the mids - the likes of Bob Dylan and The Fisherman's Friends are probably heavily physical-oriented so a bit surprised to see them even top 100 on iTunes, while Newton Faulkner would be doing pretty badly to miss the top 10 after a #1 album and Franz Ferdinand should also still get a top 10 despite the lack of support as Editors and White Lies have done recently.

Looking like Naughty Boy might get the number one album this week but either way it would be great for NB or Ellie to get it!

Good to see both versions of Franz Ferdinand's album top 40, hopefully it will chart on Sunday

Deluxe edition of Hotel Cabana still top 10, but the other's dropped down to #13. Hmm, I think Halcyon Days is gonna get #1.
Have Avenged Sevenfold ever done really well in the UK with any of their albums? I'm not necessarily interested, but my brother certainly will be! I knew they'd do well in this climate, but quite surprised to see them doing so well on iTunes of all places. They'll probably be rather front-loaded, but I would quite like them to get number 1 for the lolz. I mean can you imagine Vidcapper's reaction? :D

A7X got to #5 with their last album and they're one of those acts that have so far done better with each successive album - I don't think they'll actually get #1 but I think a top 3 will be very achievable for them.
This is the equivalent week to when Slipknot got a Number One album in 2001, so it's still all to play for. The bank holiday might improve their chances of being Number One on the mids too.
If "Hail To The King" is half as good as "Iowa" (I seriously love how an album that heavy, with a song called "People = Shit" on it can get to #1) then it'll be well worthy of making it.

Plus, with album sales in general falling off a cliff, cult rock fans are probably some of the only dedicated music fans/album-buyers left so a lot of those types of bands are getting higher chart placings than usual by default even with about equal/lower sales than previous lower-charting albums.

Lovely to see this climbing. Should climb a lot more in the coming weeks! :cheer:

 19. Hall of Fame - Big Sean

Big jump since the last update. I'm surprised Big Sean has still not charted other than as a feature / not the main artist in the singles chart, but it looks like this might make the albums chart (although not the top 40 unless it can somehow climb in when it wasn't there in the mids).

73. Stay Trippy - Juicy J

169. The Shadow of Heaven - MONEY

Added these 2 to the list of new releases this week, both have a release date of 23/8 according to iTunes (as do several of the other albums that were actually released on 26/8).

Nice to see this climb following Diana's Daybreak performance!

The 1975 potentially for #1 this week with Nine Inch Nails and Rizzle Kicks top 5/10? Babyshambles and Glasvegas could be top 10 contenders too, this is the first I've heard of either release but lots of indie bands are getting top 10 albums with completely anonymous releases recently (Editors, White Lies, Franz Ferdinand). Babyshambles' album being a comeback might help it too.

Ariana Grande's album did well on pre-orders when it was first added so will probably chart somewhere but it's download only which won't help it much. UB40 will probably chart somewhere too, not sure if they've had any support from Radio 2 and the like for this album. And John Legend's album should be at least top 40 especially with the revival of 'Ordinary People' in the last couple of years. On for a decent number of new entries then!

Lol wut at Goldie Lookin Chain, who knew they still existed?

Radio 2 had the UB40 as Album of The Week last week but I haven't noticed them playlisting the single (in fact I don't even know which track was the single).
Definitely 1975 vs Nine Inch Nails. Glasvegas' last album did dreadfully so I'm surprised they have any hype at all, wouldn't expect them to go top 10. Babyshambles might.
