October 3, 201311 yr Well obviously she wasn't stealing him away, it's the image she's putting across. To someone with a weird imagination maybe :P When Kylie did the video for All The Lovers, I doubt people thought she was about to take part in a masive street orgy. It's all just a performance at the end of the day.
October 3, 201311 yr I wouldn't say writing a letter so everybody could see is dignified in the slightest. And Miley is in any better position herself by retaliating the way she did? Somebody offers you advice about just how cruel a mistress the industry really can be and she exploits a long-gone affair from said person's past in a bid to humiliate her...? Sinead's approach was definitely more dignified than Miley's response was. Since she returned with this new image and era the media has pretty much centred her, but mostly for all of the wrong reasons. (Not my own opinion, because I'm generally not fussed at all by her image (it's rather HOT to be fair), nor do the videos affect me or set a bad example (the VMA's performance was a bit vulgar, though.), but it's so easy to see exactly how other people are perceiving this - most of which is down to a bad representation of Miley on the media's behalf.
October 3, 201311 yr And what when Britney and Madonna kissed at the VMAs, Britney was a cuckoo in the nest trying to steal Madge away from Guy Ritchie?
October 3, 201311 yr I never said that Miley was try to steal away Robin. Ffs why would you think that's what I meant? All I was saying that it's no wonder everyone's branding her a sl*t if that's how she acts.
October 3, 201311 yr I honestly think that if Rihanna/Katy Perry was doing the same thing, they'd probably be lauded for being so sexually open, and I'm not even a Miley stan. I know that they weren't Disney stars and are maybe 'sexier' in the first place, but still. Rihanna has been slammed for similar reason in the past, remember the whole S&M thing/her X factor performance a few years ago? This isn't a double standard, the media pretty much always attempts to take the 'moral high ground' or young female teen stars suddenly being 'sexualised' and taking the 'ZOMG think of the kids!!11' approach, which is rich when its a toerag like the Mail/Sun... I don't really find this whole Miley thing 'WRONG ZOMG' and all, I just find it rather cringeworthy and desperate as she has very little sexual appeal anyway (and is becoming quite an abhorrent personality herself) but I don't think we should be surprised, this was always coming, remember when she pole danced on the VMA's a few years back? This letter wasn't the best way to go about it, I do agree with her general point though of how the music industry does not care. I think Miley may discover that in the future.

Perhaps, but it wasn't to this extent at all. In fact, I'd actually argue that the Wrecking Ball video (aside from the hammer licking part, which totally asks for the penises that have been photoshopped onto it across the web ) is quite artistic and fits/adds to the song. We Can't Stop was a mess admittedly but everything that stemmed from the reaction to that is just totally OTT.
October 3, 201311 yr I never said that Miley was try to steal away Robin. Ffs why would you think that's what I meant? Perhaps because you explicitly said she looked like a $l*t for dancing provocatively on stage with a married man.
October 3, 201311 yr To put my two cents in: It seems to me Sinead's rambling words are just a projection of her own experiences within the music industry and actually have little/no relation to Miley. They've had very different careers at different times. I hate all this faux-feminist musings that Miley has to be 'dumb' or 'controlled by men' to explain her actions, isn't that anti-feminist in itself. Just because she's a young woman is it not possible she's very aware, having grown up in the public eye and is working a very savvy campaign for her album. As she has said herself it's all about being a 'strategic hot mess'.
October 3, 201311 yr I don't get the feeling that this is all against her will, or that it's the men in suits making her act this way. It really does seems like she's having a lot of fun while creating all of this controversy. I think she knows full well what she's doing. The only thing I've found a bit bizarre in all of this was the imagery of her licking the sledgehammer, but hey... each to their own!

The only thing I've found a bit bizarre in all of this was the imagery of her licking the sledgehammer, but hey... each to their own! Same here, the rest is all just the same as what you'd see in any music video (just a huge weird turnaround from 'YOU GET THE BEEEST OF BOTH WORLDS') but the sledgehammer thing ruined an otherwise actually quite artistic and fitting video for the song! Also, she definitely is intelligent enough to know what she's doing, and that it would cause some sort of uproar - I think if she didn't want to be doing all of this, she wouldn't be. She doesn't seem that type of person.
October 3, 201311 yr I watched Miley the movement and it's clear that she knows what she's doing, I loved the moment she says " I will continue laughing while people continue being angry ". Miley has done exactly what she's said and at some speed is becoming one of the biggest popstars in the world.

As she has said herself it's all about being a 'strategic hot mess'. Pretty much agreed with all of this. I refuse to believe that she is not aware of what she is doing, i.e. using the very clichéd 'good girl gone bad' act to sell a few more records - only in a more extreme example. The faux moral outrage of the media is laughable, and Sinead just comes across as very patronising/bitter.
October 3, 201311 yr Oh honestly. Anyone with a bit of sense should know Miley is completely in control of what she's been doing. She's had sexual imagery creeping in for years now, this is just an extension of that in an almost amusingly overzealous way. The way the media has reacted is both hilariously predictable and so dumb as to be somewhat saddening. Sex is the absolute easiest way to get attention, Miley found that out quite a while back. It is so tiresome to see people attack women who ever do anything slightly sexual. She's being smart and having fun along the way - that should be celebrated, not complained about.
October 3, 201311 yr Author The faux moral outrage of the media is laughable, and Sinead just comes across as very patronising/bitter. I don't think Sinead comes across as bitter at all. She's just voicing her opinion, albeit in a very public manner, and she probably thinks she's giving Miley good advice. What Miley chooses to do with that advice is up to her, but I do think it's a bit bloody rude how she's responded so far. She could have been a bit more dignified about it. As for the whole acting like a $lut thing, of course Miley's in control of it and Sinead's a bit deluded if she thinks that there are sleazy men behind those decisions, exploiting her for all she's worth etc. Yes the media are making a big deal of it, probably because Miley is meant to be a role model to young girls. But as others have said, she's not the first to use sex to sell music (just look at Rihanna's new video) and she certainly won't be the last. I expect she will end up in rehab at some point though.
October 3, 201311 yr Miley… Really? Who the f*** is advising you? Because taking me on is even more f***in’ stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism. You have posted today tweets of mine which are two years old, which were posted by me when I was unwell and seeking help so as to make them look like they are recent. In doing so you mock myself and Amanda Bynes for having suffered with mental health issues and for having sought help. I mean really really… who advises you? have you any idea how stupid and dangerous it is to mock people for suffering illness? You will yourself one day suffer such illness, that is without doubt. The course you have set yourself upon can only end in that, trust me. I am staggered that any 20 yr old woman of the 21st century could behave in such a dangerous and irresponsible manner as to not only send the signal to young women that its ok to act like prostitutes but also to the signal that those who have suffered or do suffer mental health problems are to be mocked and have their opinions invalidated. Have you no sense of danger at all? or responsibility? Remove your tweets immediately or you will hear from my lawyers. I am certain you will be hearing from all manner of mental health advocacy groups also. It is not acceptable to mock any person for having suffered. It is most unbecoming of you to respond in such a fashion to someone who expressed care for you. And worse that you are such an anti-female tool of the anti-female music industry. I hope that you will apologise to Amanda Bynes and to any person who has been wounded by your mockery of those who have suffered. And I hope that you will wake up and understand that you in fact are a danger to women. Furthermore you posted a photo of me tearing the pope’s photo .. as if to imply insanity.. by doing so all you have achieved is to expose your staggering ignorance. I suggest you read The Philadelphia Report, The Boston Report, all the reports which will illuminate for you why that action of mine remains sane and valid. By mocking it you mock every child who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of priests and had it covered by the Vatican. You could really do with educating yourself, that is if you’re not too busy getting your tits out to read.

October 3, 201311 yr LMAO. All this over reaction towards Miley is getting boring now. People jumping on bandwagons and shit. Get over it. They all supposedly know how "the industry works" so why are they surprised and why are they even getting involved and even pretending to "care"? I'm loving everything about this campaign for Miley! It's all working perfectly and I honestly believe that she is just laughing so hard at peoples reactions and stuff. She doesn't give two shits to how people perceive this persona, she's getting the attention she needs to be successful!

You could really do with educating yourself, that is if you’re not too busy getting your tits out to read. Yeah, I don't agree with what Miley did at all in regards to the way she responded to Sinead, but oh well, let her come across as a careless brat if she wants to. Poking fun at somebody who made tweets when they were clearly at an extremely low point in their life, something which she was obviously fully aware of, is just disgusting. On the flip side of that, though, one minute Sinead is 'advising' Miley and telling her she should be made aware of this and that, yet turns around and calls her a prostitute? This is exactly where Miley's behaviour (be it erratic or not) is blown out of proportion far too much and the media contrive it so much, and people just latch onto that blindly. She doesn't act like a prostitute at all. It's really rather ridiculous that people are continuing to care so much about her image and try and slag it off as much as they are when she probably really doesn't give a shit. The only problem with that is that when it does boil down to the seriousness of what's happening between her and the label, she probably won't respond well to advice that other people who have experienced the same thing have to offer her. Why did Sinead bother to respond after that, though? :drama:
October 4, 201311 yr Sinead. I don't have time to write you an open letter cause Im hosting & performing on SNL this week. So if youd like to meet up and talk lemme know in your next letter. :) QUEEN.
