62k is a decent figure for Miley considering it's lacking preorders but 40k for eminem after 2 months of preorders isn't great & if One Rep end up at no3 Maynard's sales will be liaison only 50k?!

Brand New Machine is number 1 on iTunes right now...is it too much to hope they might be in with a slim chance of beating Miley......

Probably

Midweek Charts update: Cyrus heading for another 100,000 opener

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

Miley Cyrus is heading for her second 100,000-plus week-one total of 2013 in the UK as Wrecking Ball heads to No 1.

Her newly-issued RCA single had sold around 85,000 copies up to the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company, giving it a comfortable lead of nearly 30,000 units over its nearest rival Berzerk by Interscope/Polydor act Eminem.

Wrecking Ball will become Cyrus's second UK No 1, coming immediately after the first, We Can't Stop, which led the market for a week in August. It sold 128,159 copies first week and has now reached total sales of around 375,000.

Cyrus and Eminem's singles are among six brand new tracks within the Top 10 in the week so far with Parlophone act Conor Maynard's R U Crazy at 3, Polydor's The Saturdays at 5 with Disco Love, James Blunt's Atlantic-issued Bonfire Heart at 6 and Island signing John Newman's Cheating at 7. Just outside the 10 is Def Jam/Virgin EMI artist Justin Bieber's newly-issued single Heartbreaker. Last Sunday's No 1, Interscope/Polydor act OneRepublic's Counting Stars, is now down to 4.

Cyrus is also leading the artist albums market at present in her quest for a first No 1 in that market with Bangerz around 4,500 sales ahead of EMI act Chase & Status's new set Brand New Machine at 2. Domino act Arctic Monkeys' AM has moved back up 4-3 to swap places with Columbia-handled Kings Of Leon's Mechanical Bull, while Polydor's Haim drop to 5 with Days Are Gone after debuting at No 1 last Sunday. The Top 10 also includes brand new albums from Columbia's Lucy Spraggan and Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic's Panic At The Disco.

NO SALES INFO

6 new entries for Sunday more of less confirmed :D

Bieber was just an addition that came out of nowhere so that don't change the fact that 6 new songs in the top 10 is really exciting imo.

It was far more exciting last week when we still didn't know what the number one would be right up until it was announced

6 new entries in the Top 10 is too many in my opinion, but as long as it doesn't go back years and become the norm I can put up with it.

I much prefer more new entries! It keeps it more fresh and interesting, and we need a good clearout every now and then.

Remember 2008? That was a horrible period.

Its looks better if the new entries were spread out, not just allocated to the top 10, there isn't anything else new between 15-40 apart from Ylvis.

Looks like Miley to do the double than :(

James Blunt is creeping up the chart. I suspect One Republic could be no3 by sunday.

Anyone knows why the big jump for Bruno Mars album

People keep on about 2008 being a horrible period but actually when you look at the stats it tells a different story.

Total Top 75 entries 2008 (487), 2012 (466), 2013 (350*)

No of new entries in Top 75 per week 2008 (9.36), 2012 (9.14), 2013 (8.75*)

There were just as many new entries, but they tended to enter lower and rise for a few weeks. I find that a lot more interesting than 1-7 being new entries and the rest of the Top 40 falling 7 places each.

I listened to the chart show and every song would just move down a place every week. That is in no way interesting, it's just stale.

The Saturdays might actually peak at 6 then if James Blunt has Graham Norton!

He'd have to get a tremendous boost to be able to overcome the gap between them (which is around 9k)!

Are The Vamps top 10 again?

They are indeed - #10! ^_^

Oh I didn't realise they were that far ahead :o

Ylvis and Jasmine Thompson both #30 apparently? :P

Bieber's new single has done dreadfully, already down to #25 on iTunes! Looks like his career really is dying in the UK at least - 1D next please.

Looks like The Sats are going to be top 5, will they ever get that #6?

Maybe if they release Not Giving Up? That seems to have the best hit potential! I can't see any other post-album songs of theirs going top 10 without a single mix tbh!
