October 9, 201312 yr Tea and Toast is a great song, id also like it to enter the top 40, i hope her album can achieve a decent position too.
October 9, 201312 yr Midweek Charts: Cyrus aiming for chart-topping double Source: MW by Paul Williams Miley Cyrus could debut at No 1 on both UK singles and artist albums this weekend with Wrecking Ball and Bangerz leading their respective markets. The RCA-issued Wrecking Ball has opened up a comfortable lead of around 18,500 sales on singles, but Bangerz faces a tougher battle to top Sunday's chart with Chase & Status only about 4,500 units behind, according to the Official Charts Company. Wrecking Balls leads the busiest week of the year so far for brand new singles with seven of the week's top eight sellers new releases as it looks to become her second No 1 after last single We Can't Stop topped the chart. They others come from Eminem, Conor Maynard, The Saturdays, James Blunt, John Newman and Justin Bieber with the pattern broken only by Interscope/Polydor act OneRepublic's Counting Stars, which climbed to No 1 last Sunday but drops to 5 in the midweeks. Eminem's own Interscope/Polydor single Berzerk is new at 2 in the latest midweeks as it looks to become his first Top 10 hit since Love The Way You Lie with Rihanna reached No 2 in 2010 and finished as the year's overall top seller. R U Crazy will deliver Conor Maynard a fifth consecutive Top 10 hit as it registers as a new entry at 3 in the midweeks and will become the first Top 10 single for Parlophone since it came under Warner ownership. The Saturdays are looking for their 13th Top 10 hit with the Polydor track Disco Love new at 4 in the week so far, while Atlantic's James Blunt could be shaping up for his first Top 10 success since the track 1973 in 2007 with Bonfire Heart new at 6. Just behind it at 7 is Island act John Newman's brand new Cheating, the follow-up to his chart-topping Love Me Again, while Def Jam/Virgin EMI's Justin Bieber completes the Top 10 entries with Heartbreaker new at 8 in the week so far. Besides OneRepublic, the other two survivors from last Sunday's Top 10 are Virgin act Katy Perry's Roar and Jason Derulo featuring 2 Chainz' Warner Bros-issued Talk Dirty, which fall 4-9 and 3-10 respectively at this stage of the week. EMI act The Vamps are down to 11 having debuted at 2 last weekend with Can We Dance. Miley Cyrus' place at the top of midweek artist albums could lead to her first UK No 1 in this market and follows her previous albums under her own name - so excluding any Hannah Montana releases - all going Top 10. She could condemn Chase & Status to a second album peaking at No 2 after 2011s No More Idols with follow-up Brand New Machine presently in runners-up position. Also new to the Top 10 at this stage of the week are Lucy Spraggan, arriving at No 6 with her Columbia debut Join The Club, and Panic At The Disco whose Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic album Too Weird To Live Too Rare To Die is at 8. Its final chart position should be a big improvement on the band's last album, Vices & Virtues, which reached No 29 in 2011. Polydor's Haim beat Justin Timberlake to No 1 last album and their album Days Are Gone is holding up better in week two, despite dropping to No 4 in the midweeks with a 64% decline. Timberlake's RCA set The 20/20 Experience - 2 Of 2 drops 2-9 with sales declining 75%. Despite the high number of new entries in recent weeks, Domino act Arctic Monkeys' AM is continuing to hang around at the top end of the chart, holding at 4 in the week so far, while the Columbia-handled Mechanical Bull by Kings Of Leon drops 3-5. Drake also loses a couple of places, down 5-7 with the Cash Money/Republic/Island set Nothing Was The Same, while London Grammar's Metal & Dust/Ministry of Sound set If You Wait drops 8-10. Korn lead the new entries outside the Top 10 with The Paradigm Shift, released through Spinefarm, new at 11 and likley to result in a much bigger first-week splash than their last efforts, The Path Of Totality, which made it to No 68 in 2011. Prefab Sprout are also enjoying improved fortunes in terms of chart positions with Crimson/Red, out via Icebreaker, new at 13. It is the act's first album since 2009 and likely to deliver their best peak since Andromeda Heights reached No 7 in 1997. Other brand new albums set to debut in or around the Top 40 this Sunday include Sunday Best's Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Domino's Anna Calvi, Rhino's Rush and a pair from BMG with new sets from The Fratellis and The Feeling. October 9, 201312 yr Hopefully Bonfire Heart can keep its no 6 position given that it is so close to no 6 on iTunes (plus the EP sales will help). Edited October 9, 201312 yr by iain
October 9, 201312 yr It would appear the Vamps will spend a second week top 10 this week then as Bieber will drop out taking the new entries down to 6. I would've preferred 7 but 6 is still great. Blunt possibly securing his first top 10 hit in over 6 years is nice to see and I'd expect Newman to drop a bit but still just holding on by Sunday. All in all a very exciting chart this week :D
October 9, 201312 yr Author All the new entries in the top 10 has pushed everything down there is hardly any new entries in the rest of the 40 apart from Ylvis which is basically a new peak. The last person that did the double was Olly Murs last year with Troublemaker/RP,RT
October 9, 201312 yr Really exciting week all round, i think the number 1 album is more important to Miley than Chase and Status in terms of how it will come across in the press etc so in a way id like her to do the double. Delighted delighted delighted to see Lucy Spraggen so high in the album chart i really want it to hold up. Both charts will be so exciting to see unfold with so many new entries, i want James Blunt to achieve a single digit peak and i think he is in with a chance of achieving that now.
October 9, 201312 yr Return to form chartwise for Korn and Panic!, despite them having less successful singles than last time. I understand it with Korn with The Path of Totality being a December release (although it still should have done better with all the hype over them going dubstep) but I never quite understood why Vices & Virtues did so poorly with a top 40 lead single and as the follow up to a #2.
October 9, 201312 yr If there's only 4.5k in it, I'd like to think Chase & Status have a chance of overtaking Miley. Problem is, I'm not really sure who would be more front-loaded. How annoying that that would be their second #2 album in a row! Edited October 9, 201312 yr by Chez Wombat
October 9, 201312 yr What did The Other Side sell at this point when it was released? Berzerk might beat it to become the fastest selling #2 of the year.
October 9, 201312 yr What did The Other Side sell at this point when it was released? Berzerk might beat it to become the fastest selling #2 of the year. 91,650 to debut at #2.
October 9, 201312 yr What a week for the singles chart!! Can't believe James Blunt is at 6, I can see it holding up quite well and shouldn't fall any lower than #8 on Sunday!! Hopefully Justin will miss out on a top 10 and hopefully The Saturdays can hold on though I expect it may finish the week at #5 or 6! I was expecting Miley to be further ahead on the albums...is it too much to hope that Chase and Status could 'do a Haim' and deny her a number one album, I really hope so I'm going to buy Brand New Machine on Friday just to help the cause!! It's going to be an exciting week
October 9, 201312 yr I'll predict a Miley-Eminem-OneRepublic-Conor-Saturdays T5 with Katy Perry, James Blunt, John Newman, Chase & Status and Jason Derulo occupying the last five slots. Chase & Status to overtake Miley on the albums chart please!
October 9, 201312 yr I want to believe 'Brand New Machine' has a chance at #1 but really I'd be thrilled if it can just hang onto #2. Despite how huge their last era was I didn't expect Chase And Status to do quite as well this time around. Woop for Ylvis making the top 40 and London Grammar climbing (hopefully they'll stick around for a sixth week top 40 then) but away from the high new entries it's a pretty boring week. Hopefully there should still be six newies on Sunday (Bieber isn't going to make it I don't think, but that's no bad thing). So many new entries lining up just outside the top 10 in the albums! Of course they'll pretty much all plummet by Sunday though :P Really (pleasantly) shocked at how well the new dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip album is doing! HAIM, AM and KoL still in the top 5 is great to see too.
October 9, 201312 yr So pleased to see Miley doing the double! Fantastic single and album. Was hoping Lucy's album would be Top 5 however pleased to it in the Top 10 with hopefully quite decent sales - 'Tea & Toast' has moved into the Top 40 on iTunes so really hoping that will be a 4th Top 40 single for her on Sunday and keep sales of the album steady.
